Abstract We intend to problematize the agroecological “dialogue of knowledge” and survey the conditions of anthropology for such problems. The fundamental argument is that, despite the proposal of non-hierarchical construction of agroecological knowledge (between “scientific” and “non-scientific” knowledge), its epistemological basis does not comprises the complex interactions produced among the agents in question, ambivalently contributing to a hierarchical and asymmetric relationship of power. We suggest that: the idea that agroecology promotes harmonious relations between scientists and farmers simplifies interactions tensioned by the dynamic approximation/estrangement; the conception of culture and cultural diversity implicit in the dialogue of knowledge is based on the dissociation between “thought” and “action”; a “political dynamics of alterity” would better define the agroecological relational scheme; the anthropological conception of translation would contribute to the promotion of a “double extensionality,” not based on the capacity to teach, but rather on the capacity to learn.

Abstract Limited understanding of the complex interactions of factors that influence the sustainability of access to improved water services poses a threat to rural livelihoods. The study assessed the complex interactions of the factors using a network approach. The assessment was to understand the complex interaction of the factors resulting from their cause-effect relationship that influence the sustainability of access to improved water services in a rural municipality of South Africa. The results highlighted that limited budget, limited or no water supply and improper operation and maintenance were critical factors resulting from the cause-effect relationship of other factors that influenced the sustainability of access to improved water services in the study area. We conclude that critical factors with a cause-effect relationship can influence the sustainability of access to improved water services. As a result, this deprives rural communities of the benefits derived from accessing improved water services. We recommend the use of the findings by the relevant authorities responsible for water services provision to inform planning, management, policies to address challenges identified to contribute to sustainability of access to improved water services.

Having written and compiled from memory, over 700 Setswana proverbs when he was briefly resident in London, around the 1900s, Sol T. Plaatje exhibited unusual ethnographic knowledge and remarkable, creative translation skills in diaspora-like circumstances.  While most literary researchers attest to those achievements, few have been the theories that account sufficiently for Plaatje's multilingual proverb renditions. The view propounded here is that Plaatje's paremiological enterprise was probably never only an exercise of his polyglot abilities. Rather his quest appears to have been to assert the cultural similarities and convergences between African and European people's histories.  His socio-political beliefs propelled deep pride over his Setswana identity and became the driving force for highlighting the human bonds among nations of the North and the South. For Plaatje, seeing the overlaps and equivalences in and through the proverbs of the Dutch, English, French, Germans and the Batswana peoples, firstly validated orality as the bedrock of modern literary expression.  Secondly, the relationship of the two seemed to recapitulate the communicative connections among people and their languages, across time and space. Lastly, the paper makes the point that Plaatje's search for unity in the cultural diversity as exhibited in his 1916 Diane tsa Setswana collection and the 1924 A Sechuana Reader stories, provides instructive lessons that present-day South Africa would ill afford to ignore considering the social cohesion challenges the nation faces.

This paper analyses the research approach on the relationship between scientificscholar knowledge of the teacher and common previous knowledge of students inschool within the context of teaching, learning and conceptual change in sciences. The paper shows two sections: the first is about conceptual historical development ofthe research question. ln this sense the first question was How the students learnsciences and its transformation into the second, third , fourth and fifth question wasjustified on the light of the reading of the following works, mainly: Piaget, A usubel ,Driver, Vygotsky, and Bachelard, Canguilhem, Kuhn, Lakatos, Popper and othersauthors. The second explains the research question taking into consideration themeaning of the teacher, the pupil and the scientific knowledge in the classroom. Forthis purpose it is necessary to design a conceptual structure in order to analyze therelations, the concepts and the research problems of the teaching, learning andassessment in sciences. The structure shows the relationship of the teacher and thepupilas knowledge relationship. This is the cause why scientific knowledge must beconsidered as the hard core of the science teaching. But scientific knowledge in thiscase is seen as a product of the its historical and epistemological development andthe way as scientific knowledge changes in science is the basis forthinking aboutconceptual change of students in the classroom. The paper ends showing the aimsof the researcher engaged in this approach.

Several studies have analyzed the relationship between the firms’ technological diversification and the innovation performance outcomes. We use information coming from patents portfolio of a sample of firms that operate in a nanotechnology sector and analyze the effect, in this relationship, of the use of scientific knowledge in the development of patented inventions. We find, firstly, that the trend of the quality of innovation with the technological diversification of a firm appears similar to a Gaussian with positive asymmetry. Secondly, we find that with the increase in the percentage of the used science by year, in one side, firms appear to obtain the maximum impact of the innovation, in average, with a less technological diversification in the patent’s portfolio and, in the other side, innovations with more impact are obtained in average.

The results of the analysis of suicidal issues in the stories of V. Nabokov “Blow of a Wing”, “Fairy Tale”, “Accident”, “Lycus”, “Notification”, “Letter to Russia”, “Vasily Shishkov” are presented in the article. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that it makes it possible to clarify the writer’s ideas about being and the otherworldly, as well as to contribute to the development of such an interdisciplinary branch of scientific knowledge as thanatology. It is argued that the suicidal situations in the stories are similar: the characters take this step in a state of acute crisis as a result of long-term indulgence of weaknesses and passions (including addictions). The problem of the environment is also noted — despite the fact that the heroes are surrounded by people, they are in an atmosphere of misunderstanding and loneliness. Attention is also paid to the relationship of a number of characters with God and infernal forces (in particular, an intertextual parallel with the novel “Demons” is drawn). It is proved that suicide in the overwhelming majority of texts is a consequence of the metaphysical disintegration of heroes prone to irresponsibility, consumerism, escapism, and in some cases to the fight against God. It is concluded that the phenomenon of suicide in Russian-language Nabokov’s stories is devoid of a romantic and / or heroic halo — the writer comprehends it within the framework of European-Christian culture.

It is argued in the article that a number of modern psychotherapeutic directions represent in fact scientific-ideologic communities and an attempt is done to demarcate scientific and ideologic knowledge in these psychotherapeutic approaches and to identify the degree of their ideologization. In the course of theoretical and empirical analysis of the relationship of ideology and scientific knowledge in modern psychotherapeutic concepts, it has been shown that the culture conformable and behavioral approaches meet fewer ideological characteristics, indicating a lower level of data ideologized psychotherapeutic approaches.

From an interdisciplinary approach, focused on human sciences, this work is concerned with action situations that have occurred in protected environmental areas. these action situations do not involve only questions regarding socio- environmental rights and obligations seen from a state juridical point of view – here we are dealing with the superposition of two constitutionally protected domains: environment and cultural diversity. these actions also lead us to reflect on the importance and limits of scientific knowledge, on the positivated rights, and on the state itself as legitimate delineators, capable of defining and managing brazilian public policies, in particular those destined to the protection of the environmental and cultural.
