The present work aimed at evaluating the quality of raw materials destined for animal feed production, as well as the quality of corn produced in different areas of the Minas Gerais State. The study was conducted in a feed mill for poultry, with production capacity of 1,000 t d-1. Samples of corn, soybean, flours, animal meals, and feed, during the year of 2008 were collected for analysis of moisture, acidity, peroxides, crude protein, ethereal extract, and physical classification of the corn for "type". The collection of samples, physical-chemical analysis and classification of corn according to "type" were performed at the Industrial Laboratory and at the Department of Agricultural Engineering of Federal University of Viçosa. It was concluded that: raw materials meet the minimum demands of quality (with regards to physical-chemical and nutritional aspects); the corn grains and some by-products present high indexes of moisture and are subject to microbiological contamination during storage; the corn produced in the different areas of Minas Gerais State can be classified as "type 1" for commercialization.

Foi utilizado como técnica de análise o Índice de Qualidade da Água – IQA, utilizado pelos principais órgãos de gestão das águas do país, como a CETESB/SP e o IGAM/MG.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Palavras-Chave: </strong>Sub-bacia do rio Capivari; Chapada do Norte; IQA.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>Water is one of the most precious natural resources and is indispensable to the maintenance of life. ABSTRACT The 'Ubá' mango tree cultivar is very important for the juice industry in the "Zona da Mata" region of the Minas Gerais State, in Brazil, but problems such as uneven flowering and low yield have discouraged producers. This study aimed at evaluating the effect of paclobutrazol, combined with branch tip pruning, on the flowering induction and quality of 'Ubá' mango tree fruits. Treatments were distributed in a 5 x 2 + 1 factorial arrangement, consisting of five paclobutrazol doses (0 g, 0.50 g, 1.00 g, 1.50 g and 2.0 g per linear meter of canopy), with and without branch tip pruning, in a randomized blocks design, with four replicates. The flowering percentage, number of panicles per branch, total flowers per panicle, male/hermaphrodite flowers ratio, number of fruits per branch and fruit quality were evaluated. Plants treated with tip pruning showed a higher flowering percentage. There was an increase in the flowering percentage in response to the paclobutrazol dose, reaching a maximum level at the dose of 1.62 g per linear meter of canopy. Plants submitted to branch tip pruning had a higher number of panicles per branch. There was an increase in the male/hermaphrodite flowers ratio with increasing paclobutrazol doses. Branch tip pruning increased the number of fruits per branch. There were no differences in fruit quality in response to the paclobutrazol application. It was concluded that the paclobutrazol application at the dose of 1.62 g per linear meter of canopy, combined with branch tip pruning, increases the flowering of the 'Ubá' mango tree and does not change the fruit quality.

Introduction. Currently, there are no bibliographic or statistical records that allow establishing a correlation between the physical-chemical quality characteristics of raw cow’s milk produced in the Republic of Panama and the classification it receives. Objective. To characterize and quantify the physical-chemical parameters of the quality of raw cow’s milk and correlate these characteristics with the classification that milk receives in Panama. Materials and methods. A stratified sampling was carried out according to the classification of raw cow´s milk (grade A, B, and C), 48 of grade A, 71 of grade B, and 393 of grade C. Random samples were taken in Cocle, Veraguas, Herrera and Los Santos during the rainy season from June to September 2018. In the Chiriquí province, the sampling was conducted during the dry season, from January to March 2019. In addition, it was necessary to have at least 512 producers or farms, so that the analysis reached a confidence level of 95 %, a standard deviation of 5 %, and a limit of error of 5 %. Results. The values found allow us to consider that the milk produced in Panama has the physical-chemical characteristics according to international standards. The correlation analysis indicated that the protein had a high relationship with solids non-fat (SNF), density (D), and lactose (L) (0.93, 0.91, and 0.96, respectively); also L is strongly related to SNF and D (0.94 and 0, 91, respectively). Conclusions. The analysis of variance did not allow to establish significant differences between the three existing classifications in the country, which allow a distribution of milk according to the grades of these parameters. However, it was possible to establish the existing correlation between some of these parameters.

Kaizen is a Japanese concept that means improvement continuous process to constantly improve the quality and productivity output. Stage of the data processing is done in this study using seven quality control tools (seven tools). From the results of the data processing is done by using the seven tools of quality control so visible damage that occurs feed the ash High temperatures, low water levels and the color is not uniform feed. Histogram and Pareto diagram showing the greatest amount of damage to small, the color is not uniform feed as many as 6800 Kg (41.34%), high ash content as much as 5050 Kg (30.70%) and low water levels as much as 4600 Kg (27.96%).Based on a causal diagram can be seen several causes defects in animal feed products C-281 human factors, among others, due to lack of skill or abilities of the workers themselves, less rigorous labor in performing measurements so the size does not match the required specifications. And factors that usually raw materials can cause defects in animal feed products C-281 is due to the quality of the raw materials are not in accordance with the standards set by the previous company. From the calculation of the map control is obtained that no data which are beyond the control chart or no data outside the control limits.

Rice is one of the most cultivated cereals in the world and the increase in crop yield is associated with cultivars and levels of soil fertilization, and may suffer changes in grain quality after processing. The objective of this work was to evaluate the physical quality of grains of rice benefited as polished and integral of cultivars IR 424 RI and IR 431 CL as a function of different levels of fertilization. After the harvest, the grains were subjected to the debarking and polishing processes. Quality analysis was performed according to the physical classification of rice. The cultivar IR 424 RI obtained higher values of yellow, burned and plastered grains, and in the cultivar IR 431 LC more broken, chopped and stained grains were observed. The average yield of polished rice of cultivar IR 431 CL was 44.54% and cultivar IR 424 RI was 56.80%. Meanwhile, the average yield of whole rice of cultivar IR 431 CL was 65.02% and cultivar IR 424 RI was 73.08%. The increase in the fertilization levels of the rice influenced positively on the yield of whole grains, but did not present satisfactory results regarding the physical quality.

This study aims to evaluate changes in quality of life of cancer patients at the beginning of the first and the second cycle of chemotherapy (CT) in hospitals in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Longitudinal, prospective, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. We enrolled 230 patients, from a broader cohort, diagnosed with the five most frequent types of cancer (breast, colorectal, cervical, lung, and head and neck), aged 18 years or older, who were initiating CT for the first time. quality of life was assessed with the EORTC QLQ-C30 version 3, applied at the beginning of the first and second chemotherapy cycle. The paired Wilcoxon test was used to identify differences in quality of life between the two time points. A multivariate linear regression analysis was performed using the bootstrap method to investigate potential predictors of global health Status/quality of life. There was a significant increase in patients’ emotional function scores (p < 0.001) as well as symptom scores for pain (p = 0.026), diarrhea (p = 0.018), and nausea/vomiting (p < 0.001) after initiation of CT. Widowhood was associated with improvements in the global health Status/quality of life (p = 0.028), whereas the presence of cervical cancer (p = 0.034) and being underweight (p = 0.033) were related to poorer global health status/quality of life scores. CT has detrimental effects on patients’ physical health but, on the other hand, it leads to improvements in the emotional domain. Patients’ individual characteristics at the beginning of CT are associated with changes in their quality of life. Our study could help identify these characteristics.

Over a period of five years (2005-2009), the laboratory of the Department for Nutrition and Botanic analyzed 22 samples of mixes from the territory of Serbia, intended for the diet of two categories of cattle (fattening calves I and dairy cows with over 20 liters of milk). The analysis was performed using standard methods, and the obtained results were compared with the quality conditions prescribed under the Regulations on quality and other requirements for animal feed (SRY Official Gazette numbers 20/00 and 38/01). Intensive breeding of cattle implies the use of concentrated mixes for all categories which are adapted to the age and purpose of maintenance of the animals. The mixes are products of the animal food industry, and they are obtained through an established technological procedure using the required raw materials. The inadequate quality of raw materials causes problems involving the quality of the finished products, so that strict adherence to the established recipes does not necessary result in a satisfactory quality of the mixes. All of the above imposes the need for the constant monitoring of the nutritive value of the mixes, and consequently also of their quality. On the grounds of the analysis of the presence of the elementary nutritive matter, no significant differences were established with regard to the prescribed quantity of nutritive matter, so that the use of the examined mixes in the diets of the respective categories of cattle can be expected to yield satisfactory production results. .
