We hypothesize that the high quality of binocular coordination of saccades in reading is progressively learned during childhood, and this oculomotor learning is based on a synergy between saccades and vergence. In present work deficits in the binocular control of saccades in six dyslexic children (mean age was 11±2.48 years) are studied for two tasks (text reading and Xs-C scanning), and at two viewing distances (40 cm and 100 cm). Fixation durations resulting are longer in Xs-C scanning task than in text reading task. We postulate that while reading motor preparation processes are executed with less demand for attentional resources. Importantly all physiological parameters of the saccades were the same for the two conditions and in either distance. Namely disconjugacy of saccades and disconjugate post-saccadic drifts were high but similar for the two conditions. Time analysis applied on saccade amplitude disconjugacy, on disconjugate post-saccadic drift and on fixation duration showed no significant effect of repetition or time. we believe that the binocular coordination deficits in dyslexic children reflect some type of microdyspraxia due to reduced oculomotor learning, perhaps related to inefficiency of the magnocellular visual system and the cerebellar functions.

Smooth pursuit (SP) was explored in dyslexics and non-dyslexics. Dyslexic children show similar gain of SP, and number and amplitude of catch-up saccades (CUS) as non-dyslexic children. The quality of binocular coordination is good for both groups; the only significant exception is for pursuit to the right for both smooth phase and CUS; dyslexics show higher disconjugacy. Decrement of binocular control during rightward pursuit only could reflect immaturity of oculomotor learning mechanisms needed to optimize binocular coordination for all directions. Yet, these observations need to be confirmed in a larger population including older children and compared with other populations, e.g. with right-to-left reading.

Nursing records and their implications for the quality of careAbstract: To evaluate nurses' records in the electronic and conventional patient charts, with a view to improving the quality of care. Descriptive study, case study type. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 8 nurses from the coronary artery disease ward and the analysis of the records in the two types of patient records. In the 25 revised records, the number of 51 records was verified, being 37 of the electronic records and 14 of the conventional medical records, average of 31 days of hospitalization. There was a lack of achievement of the insufficient number of nursing professionals in the sector compared to the complexity of the patients attended. The number of nursing staff and their workload stands out as an obstacle. Consequently, there is a need for quantitative and qualitative adjustments in the work process related to the execution of this and other tasks so that they can be properly conducted.Descriptors: Nursing Care, Eletronic Health Records, Workload. Abstract. Environmental modelling is complex, and models often require the calibration of several parameters that are not directly evaluable from a physical quantity or a field measurement. The R package caRamel has been designed to easily implement a multi-objective optimizer in the R environment to calibrate these parameters. A multiobjective calibration allows to find a compromise between different goals by defining a set of optimal parameters. The algorithm is a hybrid of the Multiobjective Evolutionary Annealing Simplex method (MEAS) and the Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (ε-NSGA-II algorithm). The optimizer was initially developed for the calibration of hydrological models but can be used for any environmental model. The main function of the package, caRamel(), requires to define a multi-objective calibration function as well as bounds on the variation of the underlying parameters to optimize. CaRamel is well adapted to complex modelling. As an example, caRamel converges quickly and has a stable solution after 5,000 model evaluations with robust results for a real study case of a hydrological problem with 8 parameters and 3 objectives of calibration. The comparison with another well-known optimizer (i.e. MCO, for Multiple Criteria Optimization) confirms the quality of the algorithm.

<p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Tracking and Chromakey as Visual Effect Design Technique (Study Case: Video Clip Visual Effect. Visual effect in audio visual media and animation is commonly use, especially chromakey technique or usually described as green screen or blue screen, a certain color element to acknowledge the alpha channel. In compositing technique, the using of tracking and chromakey technique are both known as visual effect technique. But on online editing works, the result seldom not at its best. This problem is usually occurred from early production process until the final process in the process of video making. The quality of final result based on early raw footage used. The objective of this research is to know the technical factors to achieve better method appliance in order to enhance the quality of final result. The study case is video clip that has short duration, more variative and has natural compositing result. The literature studies of software and user approached is the method use to analyses the problem. The result of this research is the understanding of tracking and chromakey method in video clip making process to achieve the visual effect needed. </p><p> </p><p><strong> Abstrak</strong></p><p>Tracking dan Chromakey Sebagai Elemen Teknik Desain Efek Visual (Studi Kasus: Efek Visual Video Klip). During text reading, the durations of eye fixations decrease with greater frequency and predictability of the currently fixated word (Rayner, 1998; 2009). However, it has not been tested whether those results also apply to scene viewing. We computed object frequency and predictability from both linguistic and visual scene analysis (LabelMe, Russell et al., 2008), and Latent Semantic Analysis (Landauer et al., 1998) was applied to estimate predictability. In a scene-viewing experiment, we found that, for small objects, linguistics-based frequency, but not scene-based frequency, had effects on first fixation duration, gaze duration, and total time. Both linguistic and scene-based predictability affected total time. Similar to reading, fixation duration decreased with higher frequency and predictability. For large objects, we found the direction of effects to be the inverse of those found in reading studies. These results suggest that the recognition of small objects in scene viewing shares some characteristics with the recognition of words in reading.
