Abstract Objective To assess if the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict MODE Instrument predicts residents’ performance. Study Design Nineteen residents were assessed on the Thomas-Kilmann conflict modes of competing, collaborating, compromising, accommodating, and avoiding. Residents were classified as contributors (n  =  6) if they had administrative duties or as concerning (n  =  6) if they were on remediation for academic performance and/or professionalism. Data were compared to faculty evaluations on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) competencies. P value of < .05 was considered significant. Results Contributors had significantly higher competing scores (58% versus 17%; P  =  .01), with lower accommodating (50% versus 81%; P 5 .01) and avoiding (32% versus 84%; P  =  .01) scores; while concerning residents had significantly lower collaborating scores (10% versus 31%; P  =  .01), with higher avoiding (90% versus 57%; P  =  .006) and accommodating (86% versus 65%; P  =  .03) scores. There were significant positive correlations between residents’ collaborating scores with faculty ACGME competency evaluations of medical knowledge, communication skills, problem-based learning, system-based practice, and professionalism. There were also positive significant correlations between compromising scores and faculty evaluations of problem-based learning and professionalism with negative significant correlations between avoiding scores and faculty evaluations of problem-based learning, communication skills and professionalism. Conclusions Residents who successfully execute administrative duties are likely to have a Thomas-Kilmann profile high in collaborating and competing but low in avoiding and accommodating. Residents who have problems adjusting are likely to have the opposite profile. The profile seems to predict faculty evaluation on the ACGME competencies.

ABSTRACT   Background: Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a strategic learning system design which aimed at enhancing and optimizing the collaborative learning, contextual and self- directed. Factors that influence PBL’s success are a good scenario, responsible facilitator and students who can be able to active in PBL. Factors such us lack of preparation, communication skills and anxiety can affect the activeness. This study aims to determine the relationship between anxiety level of communication with activeness on PBL. Methods: The design of study was cross sectional quantitative. The sample in this study were 240 respondents. with a total sampling technique. Anxiety level of communication’s data obtained through anxiety scale communication and activeness on PBL get by instrument of activeness. The analysis test using chi- square. Result: There is a significant relationship between anxiety level of communication with activeness on PBL with p = 0,000 (p<0,05). Conclusions: There was a relationship between anxiety level of communication with activeness on PBL medical student of Lampung University.

The article is devoted to the role and possibilities of using phraseology in teaching professional communication skills in Russian to foreign students. As an example, phraseological units are discussed that are used in professional communication in the field of economics and business. The article contains such linguistic characteristics of phraseological units in the economic discourse as semantics, stylistic properties, etymology, communicative value. Teaching professional communication with the use of phraseology assumes acquaintance of foreign students with the main linguistic characteristics of phraseological units, i.e. with their grammatical properties, lexical and syntactic compatibility, features of functioning in speech. Control tests are aimed at mastering the semantics of phraseological units, at developing the skills and abilities of using phraseological units in professional speech. The author of the article comes to the conclusion that the use of phraseological expressions in teaching professional communication allows to consider phraseology as one of the linguistic resources that contributes to the formation of communicative competence in the professional sphere among foreign students.

Persentase siswa yang tuntas pada tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika mencapai 84,38% dan pada tes prestasi belajar mencapai 81,25%.Kata Kunci: perangkat pembelajaran, pembelajaran berbasis masalah, kemampuan komunikasi matematika, prestasi belajar Developing a Problem-Based Learning Instructional Kit Oriented to Junior High School of Mathematical Communication Skills and Learning Achievement AbstractThe research aims to produce a good quality problem-based learning mathematics instructional kit oriented to mathematical communication skills and learning achievement consisting of lesson plans, student worksheets, communication skill test, and learning achievement test. This study was a research and development. The procedure of this model consisted of three steps are define, design and develop. The result shows that the mathematics instructional kit is valid with a “good” category. Learning kit that has been developed was practically shown by results of practicality votes by teachers in category “good”, “very good” category based on student’s responses and “very good” category based on the observation of learning implementation. Learning kit that has been developed was effective based on student’s learning mastery. The percentage of students who achieved the mastery level in communication test is 84.38% and in learning achievement test is 81.25%.Keywords: instructional kits, problem-based learning, mathematical communication skills, learning achievement

This research was motivated by the lack of learning tools that can improve students' Mathematical Communication Skills (KKM). Activities that can encourage students to improve KKM have not been designed by the teacher in the learning device properly. This study aims to produce learning tools by applying Problem Based Learning models to improve KKM. This development research used the ADDIE development model with the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results of Syllabus, RPP, LKPD and KKM validation results showed highly valid criteria with percentages of 91.67%, 91.30%, 89.09%, and 87.15%, respectively. Practicality results indicate a very practical criterion with the percentage of small group trials at 95.57%, large group trials at 96.07%, and teacher responses at 96.25%. The effectiveness test results state that KKM of students who use learning tools with PBL models is better than KKM of students who use conventional learning.

The article focuses on the essence of professional communication and on efficient ways of developing professional communication skills. The investigation enables the authors to define methodological foundations for research. The authors provide their definitions of the following concepts: “educational paradigm”, “professional communication”, “readiness to professional communication”. The article maintains that to ensure modern specialists’ readiness to professional communication, to secure systematic and comprehensive training, to guarantee the quality formation of professional communication, it is essential to integrate personality-oriented and synergistic approaches and to ensure personalized education and synergistic relationship between forms, methods and means of education.
