The emergence of the new coronavirus resulted in the COVID-19 pandemic, which led several countries to adopt restrictive measures, such as the lockdown. As a consequence, several changes were observed in social, commercial, industrial and environmental dynamics. Thus, the present study aimed to make a brief review of some of the main effects of the Pandemic on the environment, in different parts of the world, gathering this information in a single document. To this end, a qualitative method was adopted, in which bibliographical surveys from scientific articles were carried out, as well from articles, news and reports from reliable sources. According to the sources consulted, the impacts observed in the air were mostly positive, resulting in the reduction of the concentrations of most of the atmospheric contaminants. With regard to water resources, positive effects were detected, such as the improvement in water quality in several places in the world, as well as negative effects, portrayed in the increase of the insertion of new aquatic contaminants, of difficult synthesis, in addition to the increase of residues, harmful to the marine fauna. The increase in the volume of waste, due to the new consumption habits imposed by the Pandemic, has also shown to influence soil properties. Finally, it is possible to conclude that the health crisis is linked to the cultural habits of a society that should seek to establish more harmonious relationships with the environment.

The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in an abrupt change in routines and livelihoods all around the world. This public health crisis amplified a number of systemic inequalities that led to populations needing to grapple with universally difficult truths. Yet some individuals, firms, and countries displayed resilient and creative responses in coping with pressing demands on healthcare and basic sanity. Past work has suggested that engaging in creative acts can be an adaptive response to a changing environment. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to describe how entities at the personal, community, and national levels cultivated and expressed creativity in an effort to make meaning during COVID-19. By overlaying the Four C model of creativity on such responses, we aim to (a) to connect mini, little, Pro, and Big creative behaviors with our attempts to make meaning of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and (b) to suggest how engaging in creative expression can be used to guard against the adverse consequences of this outbreak. Acknowledging that this time has been and continues to be distressing and filled with uncertainty, we propose some ways of making sense of current events by applying original thinking across domains. Further, we propose how engaging in creativity can serve to buffer against the negative effects of living through the pandemic.

There are many definitions of narcissism. In terms of common points of definitions, it is possible to define narcissism as appreciation at the higher level that people feel towards themselves. The purpose of the study was to reveal the positive and negative effects of the concept of narcissism in sports organizations. In this research, methodological qualitative method called "descriptive", "field scanning", documentary or "documentary work" has been used. The concept of narcissism has been examined in the historical process and evaluated in the context of sports. There are many successful sports people in sports organizations who work in any position and show narcissism behaviors. In the literature, it has been determined that the occurrence of narcissism is generally investigated with negative effects, but positive effects of the occurrence of narcissism in sports organizations are more likely to be benefited from these positive effects than other organizations. As a result, it has been stated that the existence of controllable narcissism in the sports environment has an effect on giving some opportunities, especially taking advantage of the positive effects that can bring about narcissism in the sports environment where self-confidence can be regarded as an important skill.Extended English abstract is in the end of PDF (TURKISH) file.

This study seeks to expand the horizon of existing literatures on the dialectic of religion, legal culture and local dynamics by comparing two great Muslim rulers in two different parts of the world in the first Islamic millennium: Mughal Emperor Akbar and Mataram’s Sultan Agung. It specifically aims to analyze historical accounts on the dynamic relations between Islamic norms and local culture with corresponding results of distinctive ways of ruling by these two great rulers. While both rulers Akbar and Sultan Agung shared similar concerns in political imagination, their difference was particularly shown in the representation of religion in the courts’ political and legal culture, with the latter was heavily determined by different challenges they faced during their rule. This paper argues that a comparative overview of these two great figures, who ruled in different parts of the world and at rather successive periods, would be beneficial for the studies of religion-culture relations in flagging the variation and extent of manifestation of Islamic global norms in local legal cultures which heavily determined by their corresponding local dynamics.

The first of these challenges of the current 21st century is undoubtedly the COVID-19 pandemic. Today it is stated that, according to the most optimistic estimates, the fall of the world economy may exceed the crisis of 2008–2009. In terms of social practices and communications, COVID-19 is already forcing us to design a new “normality” that will become a reality in the post-COVID-19 era. In the field of politics, it is stated that in authoritarian and authoritarian regimes, a more effective public response to restrictive measures was ensured. Conclusions and Relevance: at the present stage, the market and the signals it gives, by asset class, recession and recovery patterns, should be closely monitored not only by economists, but also by sociologists. political scientists, politicians and public figures. A dominant discourse in the social sciences theorizes that religious diversity puts individuals’ health at risk via interreligious hostility. However, this discourse overlooks the different subtypes of religious diversity and the moderation of political institutions. To better understand the issue of diversity and health, in this study, we distinguish between two subtypes of religious diversity—polarization and fractionalization—and argue that their impacts on health are heterogeneous. Using a sample of 67,399 individuals from 51 societies drawn from the 2010–2014 wave of the World Values Survey, our multilevel analyses show that religious polarization is negatively associated with individual health, whereas the health effects of religious fractionalization are positive. Moreover, the associations between religious polarization/fractionalization and individual health are found to depend on the democratic level of the state. In more democratic countries, the negative effects of polarization on health are mitigated, and the positive effects of fractionalization are stronger.

Marriage is a partnership between man and woman who have been baptized. It is monogamous and inseverable in nature. Dealing with the characteristic of catholic marriage, the church forbids the mixed marriage to occur. The prohibition is an attempt of the church to protect the Catholics’ faith from the risk of mixed marriage. In the other hands, the church creates a policy which is in the form of permission for mixed marriage. Further, this kind of marriage has impacts towards the church life. One of the impacts is causing intolerance in which the Catholics become inactive in the church life. Regarding the effect of interfaith marriage towards the involvement of church life as Christians, some problems are formulated such as : 1) what is the definition of interfaith marriage? 2) how is the church life of the people who commit interfaith marriage as Christians3) What are the effects of interfaith marriage towards their church life? In this research, Qualitative method is applied. Mean while, the method of interviewing (structural) is used to collect the data. The direct interviews are conducted privately between the parties. Moreover, the respondents of this research are the Catholics who undertake a mixed marriage at chapelry of Saint Vincentius A Paulo Jenangan. Based on the result of the research, there are three things which are found. First, people have lack of understanding about interfaith marriage. They are unable to differentiate between mixed marriage of different religion or church. Besides, they do not really understand the process of gaining permission to undertake the marriage. Second, people are not active in doing the activities in the church. They said that they only involved in 2 fields out of 5 church duties. Furthermore, there are negative effects of interfaith marriage, that is the intolerance of a party who is not catholic. In the case, the intolerance itself is the different opinion which causes anger and always be brought up. However, there are also some positive effects which appears from interfaith marriage. One of them is the tolerance of a non-Catholic party who always reminds his or her partner to go to the church.

The objective of this study is to analyze the (co)llateral effects of the pandemic in a general aspect, showing positive and negative effects. However, highlighting marked changes to the environment, given the time when the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere received a mandatory reduction as a result of social confinement. The methodological basis used is a systematic literature review, consulted in impact databases by the scientific community. We chose to search the Web of science, Science Direct and PubMed databases. The search keys were: pandemic, COVID-19, new coronavirus, effects of COVID-19. In addition, to analyze the presence of conceptual metaphors, opinion articles published in the world media, and published on the web during a pandemic were selected. The choice of texts is based on the theme of the new coronavirus and its impacts. The theoretical bias of Lakoff (1987; 2006) is adopted to explain metaphor on the cognitive plane, as a natural process of the human mind, that is, a way of thinking. This research is characterized in qualitative, bibliographic and analysis of content. The results show that the conceptual metaphors reveal an image of COVID-19 as the "savior" of the environment, for having forced man to stop as a need for carbon. It was concluded that the conceptual metaphors, being of a cognitive nature, appear in the form discourse, showing COVID-19 as agents of positive effects on the environment and business for the other areas of society.

Although small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are represented on a large scale around the world, the literature on earnings management (EM) has focused mainly on listed firms. In this sense, this chapter provides important insights on the determinants and main incentives for EM in the context of Portuguese and Spanish SMEs, over a period of 10 years, also considering two relevant macroeconomic events (financial crisis and entry into force of harmonized accounting regulations). The results obtained are similar for both countries and are intended to underline the possible positive effects of reducing these practices after the entry into force of a harmonized accounting standard with the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) standards and also to warn against the possible negative effects of managers' opportunistic behavior during a period of financial crisis. The close association between accounting and taxation, since the calculation of the tax income depends partly on the accounting income, remains an incentive to engage in EM practices.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has unsettled societies and economies of people and countries all over the world. Malawi is no exception. As such, the COVID-19 pandemic is more than just a health crisis. Countries have responded by instituting lockdowns and other restrictive measures among the populace. These have, in turn, elicited negative responses and legal challenges; most of which are rights-based. The main challenge has been that of the restriction of individual and religious freedoms. It is, thus, no surprise that reactions against government decrees restricting religious gatherings in the wake of the pandemic have been challenged in the courts. We will explore the Malawian traditional religious concept of healing and wholeness, give a chronological outline of government decrees and the responses to the pandemic, and conclude with an analysis using some reflections on Ferdinand Tönnies concepts of Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft and recollection of traditional religion and critique of the new evangelicalism leading to an understanding of the Malawian response to the pandemic.

Tourism has become a source of income, employment and economic growth for the country members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). This paper analyses tourism as a regional economic activity that interacts with the environment, with positive effects such as improving economic competitiveness; and negative effects such as overcrowding and poor management that can destroy the touristic asset on which the activity depends. These issues put the membership of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) of some APEC economies at stake, as well as the future of their local, regional and global economic and tourism competitiveness.
