This study appraised fabrication and welding students’ employability skills in Ogun State technical colleges. Two research questions were raised in relation to the focus of the study. A structured Questionnaire containing 15 items was developed and used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by 3 experts and tested for reliability using Cronbach Alpha Coefficient at 0.96. The questionnaire was used for collecting data from 57 respondents made by fabrication and welding industrial-based supervisors in Ogun State. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions raised in the study. The study affirmed that fabrication and welding students in Ogun State technical colleges possessed sheet metalwork skills and gas welding skills. The study recommended among others that adequate supervision and monitoring of TVET institution’s students on industrial attachment should be ensured by TVET institution’s administrators and that industrial-based supervisors should be objective in discharging their duties during students’ industrial attachment period.

Instructional supervision in schools in general and technical colleges in particular is a precursor to goal attainment. This study focused on enhancing effective instructional supervision in Ogun State technical colleges. Being a descriptive research of the survey type, the study raised two research questions focusing on activities for enhancing effective instructional supervision in technical colleges and mechanisms for enhancing effective instructional supervision in technical colleges. Also, two null hypotheses tested at 0.05 significant level were formulated. The instrument developed and used for the study was the Effective Instructional Supervision Questionnaire (EISQ). The EISQ contained 22 items which was validated by three experts, and tested to obtain 0.92 reliability coefficient using Cronbach Alpha method. The EISQ was used for collecting data from 21 respondents made of technical college administrators in Ogun State. The data collected were descriptively analyzed using mean for the raised research questions and inferential statistics of t-test for the formulated hypotheses. The study recognized the potency of instructional supervision and the need for embracing it in Ogun State technical colleges. The study recommended that technical college administrators should ensure effective instructional supervision in Ogun State technical colleges for overt instructional improvement and as well adopt global best practices to ensure that teachers are motivationally carried along in instructional supervision activities.

The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of automobile industries workshop craftsmen in relation to the integration of automobile mechatronics technology into the curriculum of automobile trade programmes in technical colleges in Nigeria. Three research questions guided the study. A survey research design was adopted for the study. The population for the study is 31 comprising 23 automobile industries workshop craftsmen who are currently working in automobile companies in Enugu state, and eight (8) automobile trades’ technical teachers in technical colleges in Enugu state. A structured questionnaire titled Instrument for Integrating Automobile Mechatronics Sub-systems (IIAMS) was used for data collection. Two experts from the Department of Industrial Technical Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and one expert from Anambra Motor Manufacturing Company (ANAMCO) face validated the instrument. The reliability co-efficient of the instrument was found to be 0.87 using Cronbach Alpha. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the research questions, while t-test was used to test the null hypotheses. The results of the study indicate that that automobile craftsmen find difficulties in servicing some automobile mechatronics sub-systems, while 16 mechatronics sub-systems were agreed on to be integrated into the automobile curriculum. It was recommended that these mechatronics sub-systems should be integrated into technical college curriculum and that technical colleges should partner with automobile industries for effective training of craftsmen. The study will contribute positively to the understanding of automobile mechatronics technology, and how it can be integrated into the curriculum.

The current study examined training and retraining for skills improvement of teachers in technical colleges for sustainable national development in Nigeria. Three research questions and three hypotheses were raised for the study. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised 273 technical teachers in 9 approved technical colleges in Lagos state. A sample of 90 technical teachers was used for the study. A 20-item structured questionnaire constructed by the researchers was used for data collection. Reliability was tested using Cronbach Alpha and a value of 0.87 was obtained. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics of the mean and standard deviation to answer research questions. Independent t-test was used to analyse three hypotheses at 0.05 levels of significances. The findings revealed that teachers perceive the availability of training and retraining programmes and sustainable national development can be achieved through training and retraining of teachers as training and retraining programmes can improve teachers’ skills of duties performance. The researchers therefore concluded and recommends that more efforts should be made by relevant bodies such government, higher institutions, professional bodies and among others to put in place more training and retraining programmes for teachers of technical colleges and they should also be encouraged to attend and participate in such programmes to improve their skills in order enable them to function effectively for sustainable national development to be achieved.

This study was carried out to determine the measures for promoting democracy in a depressed economy through business education for national security in Enugu State. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were used for the study. The study adopted a survey research design. The population for the study was 41 business educators from four government owned tertiary institutions in Enugu State. There was no sampling since the population was manageable. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire developed by the researchers and validated by the experts. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha, which yielded an overall index 0.72. Mean and standard deviation were used in answering research questions while hypotheses were tested using t-test. It was found that governmental measures items promoted democracy through business education for national security. The study also revealed that lecturers‟ measures also promotes democracy through business education for national security. It was recommended that: government should make adequate budgetary provision for business education. Democrats should be involved in business teacher‟s conferences and seminars.

The focus of this study was to assess the influence of green recruitment and selection on the sustainability of selected tea factories in Kericho Highlands region, Kenya. The study was anchored on human capital theory. It adopted a correlational research design, with a targeted population of 915 respondents drawn from tea factories in the Kericho highlands region. A sample size of 278 respondents was determined scientifically using the Yamane taro formula. Primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire. The validity of the research was checked together with the supervisors and subject experts, while instrument reliability was determined through Cronbach's alpha coefficient, where a coefficient of 0.7987 was obtained. Descriptive statistics and regression analysis was used to analyse data. The findings established a significant positive relationship between green recruitment and selection and the sustainability of the tea factories. The study concluded that green recruitment and selection influenced the sustainability of the factories.

The study investigated the use of webinar tools for teaching and learning by library and information professionals in Nigeria. The research objectives were to determine the level of ICT skills for webinar utilisation possessed by library and information professionals in Nigeria; ascertain the devices used for participating in webinars by Nigerian library and information professionals; ascertain the webinar platforms used by library and information professionals, and two others. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design and structured questionnaire was adopted as instrument for data collection. The instrument was converted to an online survey using online Google forms which was posted on the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) platform soliciting responses from members of the platform. The survey response summary showed that 109 library and information professionals participated in the study. The data were retrieved and analysed using descriptive statistics of tables, frequency, percentages, mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed that the level of librarians’ ICT skills regarding webinar participation is high (3.40 grand mean), and the majority of LIS professionals studied in Nigeria used smart phone and laptop devices for webinar participation, followed by tablets. Most of the respondents use Zoom, followed by Youtube as platforms for participation in webinars and two other findings. It was concluded that webinars play a very significant role, therefore full adoption and use of webinars in all learning institutions in Nigeria should be encouraged.

Objective: The study was carried out to identify measures for preventing conflicts between farmers and cattle herdsmen in rural communities of Benue State, Nigeria. The specific objectives were to: Describe the socioeconomic characteristics of the respondents; ascertain the causes of conflict between farmers and cattle herdsmen in the study area; and identify measures required for preventing conflicts between farmers and cattle herdsmen. Methods: Data were collected from a sample of one hundred and eighteen (118) respondents in four communities in the study area using a well-structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were used for data analysis. Results: Majority (90.7%) of the respondents had farming as a major source of livelihood, 55.1% were male while 62.7% were married. Damage to crops by cattle (x̄=2.72), uncontrolled grazing (x̄=2.52), herders claiming the land as common property (x̄=2.40), and destruction of farmland (x̄=2.30) were the major causes of conflicts. Measures required for preventing conflicts between farmers and cattle herdsmen include herdsmen education on the effects of the conflict (x̄=2.21), signing of a peace accord by both parties (x̄=2.12), establishment of ranches (x̄=2.06), implementation of law prohibiting open grazing (x̄=2.05), and disarming both parties (x̄=1.87). Conclusion: Educating farmers and herdsmen on the effects of the conflict, signing of a peace accord agreement by both parties, establishment of ranches, implementation of law prohibiting open grazing, and disarming both parties were measures required for preventing conflicts between farmers and cattle herdsmen. It is recommended that law enforcement agencies should enforce law on open grazing to avoid conflicts between farmers and cattle herdsmen in the area.

This study is directed towards the identification of activities to be conducted by women in processing, storage and preservation of pepper (capsicum species) in Southern Nigeria. Three (3) research questions and three (3) hypotheses guided the study. This study adopted survey research design, with 39 structured questionnaire items used for data collection. The questionnaire was faced validated by five experts in food science and technology and vocational teachers' education (Agric); three were knowledgeable in pepper processing. Cronbach alpha method was used to determine the internal consistency of the items with a co-efficient of 0.90. The sample was 700, made up of 630 home economists, 30 home economic teachers and 40 female teachers of Agriculture. The data was analyzed using weighted mean, standard deviation to answer research questions Analysis of variance (ANOVA) to test the hypothesis. It was discovered that 39 items were identified as responsibilities (duties) of homemakers in planning, processing, storing and preserving and marketing processed pepper in Southern Nigerian. Recommendations for effectiveness towards processing and preserving pepper for food security was made; among others.

The study investigated the effect of loci-kit models on students’ academic performance in technical drawing in Edo State technical colleges using non-equivalent control group quasi-experimental research design. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The population for this study consisted of 864 vocational II students from the six technical colleges in Edo State. The sample for the study comprised of 110 (60 males and 50 females) randomly selected from all the technical colleges in Edo State. The instrument for data collection was Technical Drawing Achievement Test (TDAT). Three experts validated the instrument. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Kuder Richardson 21 (KR-21) formulae and a reliability coefficient of .85 was obtained. The research questions were answered using Mean and standard deviation while Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. Findings from the study revealed that Loci-kit model was effective in enhancing technical college students’ performance in technical drawing topic loci; there was no significant mean effect of gender on students’ Mean performance score in Technical Drawing. In line with the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that Technical Drawing teachers should employ innovative approaches such as loci-kit models during instructions of loci concepts in technical drawing to facilitate students’ academic performance in the subject.
