AbstrakPada saat mempelajari bahasa asing, pada umumnya kita tentu akan mempelajariya huruf dari bahasa tersebut. Setiap bahasa memiliki fonem yang berbeda-beda. Pembelajaran huruf dan bagaimana cara melafalkannya merupakan pembelajaran dasar dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing. Fonem adalah bunyi terkecil yang dapat membedakan makna, sedangkan huruf adalah lambang bunyi atau lambang fonem. Misalnya, dalam bahasa Indonesia yang membedakan kata “kelas” dan “keras” adalah fonem /l/ dan /r/. Contoh lainnya yang berhubungan dengan bahasa Jepang. Pada penulisan bahasa Jepang, sering kita temukan kata dari bahasa asing yang ditulis dengan fonem yang sama. Misalnya, kata “light” (cahaya) dan “right” (kanan) yang memiliki makna yang berbeda, namun sama-sama ditulis dengan huruf atau lambang fonem yang sama yaitu 「ライト」/raito/. Dengan kesalahan seperti ini akan mudah sekali terjadi kesalahpahaman dalam berkomunikasi. Terutama, komunikasi verbal.Setelah membandingkan fonem yang dimiliki oleh bahasa Jepang dan bahasa Indonesia, salah satu fonem bahasa Jepang yang tidak terdapat dalam bahasa Indonesia adalah fonem [ts]. Penelitian ini dilakukan di kampus Showa, Gunma University kepada 15 orang mahasiswa Indonesia, yang terbagi 2 suku bangsa dengan 2 bahasa daerah yang berbeda (Sunda dan Jawa). Pada penelitian kali ini, pertama-tama, penulis memperdengarkan sebuah rekaman yang berisikan kalimat yang sama dengan teks yang telah dibaca oleh responden, lalu meminta responden untuk mengulanginya dan kemudian merekamnya. Selanjutnya, penulis meminta responden untuk mebaca sebuah teks, kemudian merekamnya kembali. Setelah data terkumpul dan di periksa oleh penutur asli bahasa Jepang, penulis menganalisisnya berdasarkan teori yang ada. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa bahasa ibu (bahasa daerah) tidak berpengaruh dalam kealahan pelafalan bahasa dikarenakan responden melakukan kesalahan ditempat yang sama dan persentase jumlah responden yang mampu melafalkan dengan baik dan benar, dengan yang tidak, dapat dikatakan seimbang (50:50). Kemudian, huruf “tsu” yang berada diawal kataatau tidak didahului oleh bunyi apapun lebih rentan terjadi kesalahan. Dengan kata lain, bunyi yang keluar sebelum huruf “tsu” berpengaruh dalam membantu melafalkan fonem [ts] dalam huruf konsonan “tsu”. Kata kunci : Fonetik, Huruf Konsonan Tsu, kesalahan pelafalan, linguistik  Abstract At the timen of learning a foreign languange, in general, we would learn the letters of the language. Each language has different phonemes. Learning letters and how to prounounce it is the basis of learning a foreign language learning. Phoneme is the smallest sound that can distinguish the meaning, while the letter is the epitome of sound or phoneme emblem. For example, in the Indonesian language, phoneme /l/ and /r/ differentiates the word “kelas”(class) and “keras” (hard). In relatiom to Japanese languange learning, particulary in writing Japanese loan word, we often find the word of the foreign language written with the same phoneme. For example, the word “light” (cahaya) and “right” (kanan) which have different meanings, but written in the same letters or phoneme symbols /raito/.  Such an error will lead to misunderstandings to take place in communication, especially in terms of verbal communication. After comparing of characteristic of phoneme of both Japanese and Indonesia language, it was found out that the phoneme [ts] in the Japanese phonemes does not exitst in the Indonesian language. The research was conducted at the Showa campus of Gunma University involving 15 Indonesian students who were divided into two different ethnicities with two different local languages (Sundanese and Javanese). In her study, the researcher firstly the author played recording of the same sentences as the next text will read later by the respondents. Furthermore, the author asked the respondents to recite it and then record it. Then, the author asked respondents to read a text, and then to record it. again. Once the data were collected and checked by native Japanese speaker, the author analyzed them. The results showed that the local language does not affect the pronouncation errors because the respondents made the misktake at the same place and the percentage of respondents who were able to recite properly, compared to those who were unable to, was equal (50:50). Then, the letters “tsu” located at the beginning of words or not preceded by any sound is more susceptible to errors. Vocabulary plays an important role in foreign language learning, but teachers are often confused about what vocabulary should be taught or targeted so that learners can communicate well according to their level. This study aims to produce a list of the most frequently used vocabulary, knows as High Frequency Words-HFW, in Beginner Indonesian as Foreign Language (ILF) level. The results of this research will be great used for IFL students, teachers, writers, and observers, as well as parties related to IFL. The use of HFW in foreign language learning is proven to have positive effects, such as increasing learning motivation, increasing self-confidence to produce one's own sentences, helping to understand texts, and using repeated words that will make the vocabulary familiar to learners. This qualitative research used corpus of BIPA books for the beginner level based on the level one and two IFL Competency Standards according to the regulation of education ministry Number 27 of 2017 then processed using the AntCont application. The results showed that 1) HFW for IFL is different from Indonesian HFW in general; 2) the form of word classes taught varies; and 3) limited of affix used.  AbstrakKosakata memegang peranan penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing, tetapi pengajar sering bingung menentukan kosakata apa saja yang harus diajarkan atau dijadikan target agar pemelajar dapat berkomunikasi dengan baik sesuai dengan tingkatannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan daftar kosakata yang paling sering digunakan, High Frequency Words-HFW, pada pembelajaran BIPA pemula. Hasil penelitian ini akan sangat bermanfaat bagi para pemelajar, pengajar, penulis, dan pengamat BIPA, serta pihak-pihak yang berkaitan dengan kebipaan. Pemanfaatan HFW dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing terbukti memberi efek positif, seperti meningkatkan motivasi belajar, meningkatkan rasa percaya diri untuk memproduksi kalimat sendiri, membantu memahami teks, dan pemanfaatan kata berulang-ulang akan membuat kosakata tersebut familiar bagi pemelajar. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan korpus data buku-buku BIPA untuk level pemula dengan berbasis Standar Kompetensi Lulusan BIPA level satu dan dua sesuai Permendikbud Nomor 27 Tahun 2017 kemudian diolah menggunakan aplikasi AntCont. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) HFW bahasa Indonesia untuk pemelajar BIPA berbeda dengan HFW bahasa Indonesia secara umum; 2) bentuk kelas kata yang diajarkan bervariasi; dan 3) bentuk imbuhan yang digunakan terbatas

ABSTRAK:Pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa asing sudah menjadi tren dan kebutuhan di era saat ini. Maka,  inovasi pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia sangat penting dilakukan sesuai dengan level pembelajar. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mempermudah pemahaman pembelajar dalam menguasai bahasa Indonesia. Salah satu caranya adalah dengan pembelajaran terintegrasi berbasis pengenalan lintas budaya. Oleh karena itu, digagaslah media AWAN ASA. Aplikasi ini berbasis software macromedia flash sehingga mudah untuk diaplikasikan dan interaktif bagi pengguna. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif persentase. Metode dan media aplikasi AWAN ASA yang dipakai dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa asing terintegrasi dengan pengenalan lintas budaya, didapati hasil keterampilan menulis siswa cukup bagus, dengan rata-rata mendapatkan nilai di kisaran 70 dan mampu menulis konjungsi dari 8-18 kata. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode dan aplikasi yang digunakan untuk mahasiswa BIPA UNESA benar-benar sesuai bagi mereka, serta metode dan media yang dipakai mampu meningkatkan pemahaman dan pengetahuan mereka mengenai bahasa dan kebudayaan Indonesia.KATA KUNCI: Aplikasi; Bahasa Asing; Lintas Budaya;Pembelajaran. BIPA’S LEARNING WITH AWAN ASA APPLICATION BASED ON CROSS-CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING  ABSTRACT: Learning Indonesian as a foreign language has become a trend and a necessity in the current era. Thus, it is very important to make innovations in learning Indonesian based on the level of the learner. This research aims to facilitate the learner's understanding of mastering Indonesian through integrated learning based on cross-cultural introduction. Therefore, the AWAN ASA media was initiated. AWAN ASA is an Indonesian language learning application which is integrated with wayang stories as Indonesian culture. The research method used quantitative descriptive research. The method and media of the AWAN ASA application is integrated with cross-cultural introduction, which was found that the results of students' writing skills were quite good, with an average score in the range of 70 and being able to write conjunctions of 8-18 words. It means, the methods and applications used in learning language for BIPA UNESA students are really suitable for them. Therefore, the methods and media can improve understanding and their knowledge of Indonesian language and culture.KEYWORDS:Application; Cros-Cultural Understanding; Foreign Language; Learning.

During the COVID-19 pandemic time, it is a requirement to deliver online learning since students can not have face-to-face meetings and they depend on gadgets such as a computer, mobile phone, iPad, and laptop to continue their study. One of the subjects is local language learning as this subject is a requirement in some provinces in Indonesia as a gesture concerning local wisdom. However, there is a lack of support for learning the local language since the local languages have a mouth to mouth learning knowledge without any dictionary support. This paper proposed the idea of using the Knuth-Morris-Pratt algorithm to translate the Palembang language to Bahasa Indonesia to help students to learn the Palembang language with the application.

Some studies have been conducted to relate motivation with second /foreign language learning. Belmechri and Hummel (1988) introduced intensity and desire in exploring motivation in the acquisition of a second language. In some studies motivation was classified into integrative and instrumental (Gardner and Lambert, 1972; Ely, 1986; Oxford and Shearin, 1994; and Sung and Padila, 1998), while some other studies motivation was classified into extrinsic and intrinsic (Dornyei (1994; Ramage, 1990; and Noels et al. 1999). Unlike the concept of motivation introduced by Oller et al.(1977 and Spolsky ( 1969), who did not separate attitude from motivation in language learning motivation in language learning in the study is separated from attitude. This study attempted to investigate how individual differences with regard to attitude and motivation are correlated in language learning. The participants in this study consisted of 75 students of a university in Indonesia who have been learning Lampungese language, a local language, since Elementary School. The data of attitude and motivation, which were collected through questionnaires, were analyzed by undertaking correlation analyses. The findings show that attitude and motivation was significantly correlated. The pedagogical implications were also provided in this study.
