In this paper, the exterior envelope of prefabricated buildings in alpine areas is studied. This paper compares the wind resistance of the fabricated structure composed of two different connection modes, connectors with different thickness, lightweight ceramsite concrete peripheral wall panel and wood composite peripheral wall panel. The test results show that the wind resistance of the fabricated structure composed of wood wallboard mainly depends on the thickness of wallboard, connection mode and connector thickness. Whether sand packing is filled or not has no effect on the improvement of wind resistance of this prefabricated enclosure structure. For meeting the wind resistance of the fabricated enclosure used in the support room, it is recommended to use thick wooden wallboard and connect up and down. The wind resistance of the fabricated enclosure composed of wood wallboard mainly depends on the strength of the wood wallboard itself. The use of wood wallboards with higher thickness can improve the wind resistance of this fabricated structure.

The experimental investigation on the effects of granular fill and geogrid reinforced granular fill on the behaviour of the static liquefaction potential of the subsoil is reported in this study. A series of plate load test were carried out with different thickness of the granular fill, number of geogrid layers, and size/dimension of the footing. The test results were presented in terms of bearing capacity and subgrade modulus for the settlement ofδ10,δ15, andδ20. The experimental results revealed that the introduction of granular fill significantly increases the bearing capacity and effectively control the settlement behaviour of the footing. The introduction of geogrid in granular fill enhanced the Percentage of Control in Settlement and Bearing Capacity Ratio by a maximum of 328.54% and 203.41%, respectively. The introduction of geogrid in granular fill interrupts the failure zone of the granular fill and enhances the subgrade modulus of the footing by a maximum of 255.55%; in addition subgrade modulus of the footing was increased with an increase in the number of geogrid layers. Based on the test results it is suggested that the footing with large size has beneficial improvement on the reinforced granular fill.

Brick masonry is the principal part of the construction industry. This paper presents the result of the expanded wire mesh embedded into the masonry wall panel; expanded mesh (EM) is the inexpensive locally available material on the market. Through the experimental study, the primary affecting parameters recognized, and the methodology of the embedment details established, the preliminary survey was conducted as per the guidelines are given in the ASTM E518. Totally three numbers of control specimen and three numbers of EM embedded specimen are cast, and compressive strength test of masonry prism also evaluated to identify the crack propagation path. The test results turned out to be highly promising, out of plane damage was less in the EM embedded specimen also it was designated the cracks are reduced.

This paper presents an experimental program for testing glued-in dowel glulam timber joints. Hundred thirty glulam specimens, each with a single glued-in rebar parallel to the grain and perpendicular to grain with different size of dowels 12mm, 16mm and 20mm were tested to evaluate the effects of anchorage length and different dowel diameter for parallel and perpendicular to the grain on pull-out strength and bond behaviour of glued-in rebar timber joints. The test results showed that the maximum load for specimen with dowel glued-in parallel to the grain given the higher maximum load than dowel glued-in perpendicular to the grain direction. Failure modes were characterized by pull out failure in the mode of adhesive-dowel, yet one sample failed in timber-adhesive mode. This might happened because the surface of the timber was burned by drilling machine during the drilling process. The pull-out was tested with different thickness grain direction with different dowel size with a rate of 2mm/min and the failure modes were observed after the testing of pull-out test. PRF is the adhesive used for the strengthening purposes. Resistance to the withdrawal of dowels glued-in perpendicularly was 44.2% to 53.5 % lower than that obtained for dowels glued-in parallel to the grain direction. The result shows that the dowel glued-in parallel to the grain given the higher maximum load than dowel glued-in perpendicular to the grain direction.

With the development of energy-saving in buildings, new energy-saving block masonry with multi-row cores is commonly used. In this paper, from the study of typical bearing capacity of multi hole concrete block masonry of combining multiple rows of holes, holes in the multi block wall masonry capacity test of heat insulation material characteristics. Test results show that, in the process of multi hole masonry brittle failure characteristics, built-in straw block in the insulation at the same time, can improve the compressive strength of masonry; masonry local diffusion mechanism under the action of stress is significant; and offer the engineering measures.

This paper presents the results of investigation on structural behavior of the load bearing walls of interlocking bricks system called Brickcool. The model of Brickcool load bearing walls with and without reinforcement were tested in the laboratory until they failed. Both models were prepared with the same dimension of 1.3 m height, 1.0 m wide and 125 mm width. The influence of reinforcement on the deflection and strain of the load bearing walls were examined. Physical and mechanical tests of the individual brick were also been carried out. Results of this study proved that the model of load bearing wall with reinforcement have higher failure load with lower displacement at the top of the wall. The presence of reinforcement in strengthening the wall panel also increase the compression and tension strain compared to the wall panel without reinforcement. The physical and mechanical test results also found that the bricks have satisfied the minimum requirement values set by the British and American Standards.

In this paper, three different types of tail domes were designed based on the mechanism of reducing pressure drag between the front and rear of vans, and it takes the van without a dome as a comparison to discuss the drag reduction effects of three different sizes. The three-dimensional model of the van is established in PRO/E, and the pressure and velocity distribution of the van model were analyzed in Fluent; In addition, the wind resistance test of the van model is proceed in the variable speed motor wind resistance simulation test device. The results of CFD simulation have good consistency with the experimental test results, and it verifies the conclusion that the tail dome is good for drag reduction. It provides basis and reference for the optimization of drag reduction for the vans.

The ultrasonic method can be used for testing and analyzing the pore size of concrete. By studying the spectrum curves which is formed by ultrasonic transmitting at different thickness concrete panels can we get different time regular patterns of head waves formed by ultrasonic going through homogeneous concrete, compact grouting pore, grouting incompact pore, not grouting pore. All these provide a basis for predicting prestressed bellows pore grouting quality and judging whether there is interspace in pore. By artificially setting defects in bellows pore, for example, filling the pore to completely empty, 1/4 compact, 1/2 compact, 3/4 compact, fully compact and then embedding them in a concrete slab for ultrasonic testing. Test results show that the ultrasonic method can effectively evaluate the grouting quality of prestressed bellows pore.

In order to obtain the total cutting energy and the ratios of the three parts of the total energy during cutting off the rubber, a test method was proposed and a test apparatus was constructed to perform the rubber cutting experiment. In the test, the friction force and the cutting force were obtained. Through the analysis of the test results, the friction work, the deformation energy, the surface fracture energy in cutting different thickness of the rubber were calculated. This work originally proposed a test method to acquire the friction force, the friction work between the cutter and workpiece during punching process.
