Creative and Innovative Thinking in the Holistic Development of Students’ Potentials through ‘Sekolah Bitara’ Visual Art Program

UPSI-Sekolah Bitara Visual Art Program was a smart, collaborative project involving Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and SekolahKebangsaanDato’ Kamaruddin, BehrangStesen, Perak. The UPSI’s Sekolah Bitara Visual Art Program was a smart collaborative project held at the SekolahKebangsaanDato’ Kamaruddin, BehrangStesen, Perak. This program was implemented based on the concept of sharing and exchange of the knowledge of visual art involving several teachers and students, aged 8-12. This ‘visual art expression’ program was carried out in several series, which began in 2014 and ended in 2018, consisting of six (6) visual art projects as follows: batik craft, print art, ceramic art, fine metal art, wall murals, and textile art.The program involving art appreciation, textile art, and legacy of art helped exposed students and provided a rich experience for such participants in learning visual art through activities that enhanced their higher-order thinking skills. This six-series project produced 180 visual art works in various disciplines of art, which were put on display at the UPSI’s Art Gallery. In addition, students’ creative wall murals were displayed on the walls of the school building. Surely, such accomplishments signify their innovative and creative thinking that can help develop students holistically with strong intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical attributes, which are in line with the aspirations of the National Education Philosophy. Surely, more efforts of similar nature are required in the future to further enhance such a program to develop students who are highly creative, innovative, and competitive.

The Curriculum of 2013 mandates that learning carried out by teachers in the classroom can foster a high-level thinking process including the ability to think creatively. Modules that can help creative students have been developed but not as good as the help of the GeoGebra Software module that can promote student’s creative thinking. This research focuses on the effectiveness of the tangent equation curve module GeoGebra Software assisted which aimed to make the students have the ability to think creatively. The subjects of the research were students of class XI of SMA 3 Banda Aceh. The instruments carried out in this research were creative thinking questions and observation sheets. Data analysis was performed by using descriptive analysis techniques. This research showed that the students' mathematical creative thinking ability was 85.98% which included in very good and good category, and overall student activity reached 91.1%. it means that the activities of students have run well. In conclusion, the teachers and students can use this module to improve mathematical creative thinking skills and the interest of students in learning mathematics assisted by GeoGebra software.

This study aims to produce teaching materials in the form of CTL-based worksheets for class XI at Senior High School. The method used in this research is the method of development. The initial stage is an analysis of the teaching materials used by teachers at school. Before being tested on class XI students, the worksheets were validated by experts as well as physics teachers and students at Senior High School 1 Gunung Tuleh. After being validated, improvements were made according to the suggestions given. The average results of the validation of learning experts, physicists, and linguists were 0.77, 0.90, and 0.81 from all aspects. The practical value of teachers and students is 79.68 and 87.43 with the valid category. After testing the validity and practicality of the physics learning videos, the results of the effectiveness test of the learning videos were obtained to measure students' critical and creative thinking skills. The average N-gain values are 0.22 and 0.26. With the overall results obtained, it can be concluded that the contextual-based worksheets that have been developed are suitable for use in learning activities

This study seeks to investigate the degree of enhancing creative thinking skills in the English for Palestine and math curricula from the teachers of English and math perspectives. To accomplish this aim, the researchers used a 20-item questionnaire and a 5-question interview. Findings of the research showed that the degree of using creative thinking in schools and curricula is low and inadequate. In the light of these findings, the researchers recommended divergent methods of teaching, adequate training for teachers and students on different techniques and the inclusion of activities in the curricula to improve students’ creative thinking.

This research is motivated by the difficulties of students in learning teaching materials are considered the main factor in these difficulties, because the material in the textbook seems stiff or tied to the main material in the curriculum so that it does not develop students creative thinking skills. Therefore, the researcher developed a book supporting Arabic writing skills based on the RAFT strategy (Role Audience Format Topic) for eighth grade students of MTs as an effort to foster students creative thinking skills in Arabic writing skills. This research uses qualitative and quantitative research with a research and development design (Research and Development). The research stages that were passed in this study only reached the fifth stage of the ten stages, namely potentials and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, and design revision. The results of this study are as follows. First, teachers and students want the development of books to support Arabic writing skills based on the RAFT strategy for grade VIII students of MTs. Second, this supporting book prototype contains vocabulary, grammar guidelines, examples of writing with RAFT strategy, writing exercises using RAFT strategy and pearls of wisdom. Third, the assessment of the content feasibility aspect obtained an average value of 90.56, the feasibility aspect of presentation was 90.95, the language feasibility aspect was 89.66, and the graphic feasibility aspect was 89.77. The average score of all aspects of book eligibility is 90.23 in the range 86-100 and is in category 4 (very suitable).   Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kesulitan siswa dalam mempelajari bahan ajar dianggap sebagai faktor utama kesulitan. Hal ini dikarenakan materi pada buku teks pelajaran terkesan kaku atau terikat pada materi pokok dalam kurikulum sehingga kurang mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Oleh karena itu, peneliti mengembangkan sebuah buku penunjang keterampilan menulis bahasa Arab berbasis strategi RAFT (Role Audience Format Topic) untuk siswa kelas VIII MTs sebagai upaya menumbuhkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dalam keterampilan menulis bahasa Arab. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development). Tahapan penelitian yang dilalui dalam penelitian ini hanya sampai pada tahap lima dari sepuluh tahap, yaitu potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, desain produk, validasi desain, dan revisi desain. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. Pertama, guru dan siswa menghendaki adanya pengembangan buku penunjang keterampilan menulis bahasa Arab berbasis strategi RAFT untuk siswa kelas VIII MTs. Kedua, purwarupa buku penunjang ini memuat kosakata, pedoman gramatika, contoh menulis dengan strategi RAFT, latihan menulis dengan strategi RAFT dan kata mutiara. Ketiga, Penilaian aspek kelayakan isi memperoleh nilai rata-rata 90,56, aspek kelayakan penyajian 90,95, aspek kelayakan bahasa 89,66, dan aspek kelayakan kegrafikan 89,77. Nilai rata-rata dari keseluruhan aspek kelayakan buku adalah 90,23 pada rentang 86-100 dan termasuk kategori 4 (sangat sesuai).

This study aimed to identify the effect of a STEAM-based learning approach in teaching the educational robot's subject on academic achievement and creative thinking among eighth-grade students in Jordan. A purposive sample was selected and divided into two groups. An experimental group (n=30) implements a STEAM-based learning approach, whereas the control group (n=32) studied in a traditional method. A pre- posttest was administered, and the data were analyzed using statistical methods to validate the study results, such as "t" tests and a one-way ANOVA test. The results showed statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in academic achievement and creative thinking. In conclusion, the STEAM-based learning approach significantly improved the students' academic achievement and creative thinking skills.   Received: 13 October 2021 / Accepted: 2 December 2021 / Published: 3 January 2022

OBJECTIVES/SPECIFIC AIMS: Explain the difference between creative and critical thinking. Practice and enhance the critical thinking skills. Display innovative thinking through creative solutions and insights. Critically evaluate evidence in research. Think imaginatively, actively seeking out new points of view. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: Offer an online course in Critical and Creative Thinking to junior researchers to improve their capacity to think and transforms their ideas in research questions and aims that bring new option to the field of clinical and translational research. Evaluate their improvement through evaluation forms and exercises that show their process to think imaginatively. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: The Scholars will understood the importance of critical and creative thinking in their careers, believed they could apply the insights and knowledge from the course in their grant and paper writing, recognized that they don’t always consider if they are being critical or creative in their thinking and actions. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: The course helped the participants to improve their capacity to think and saw a need to develop a more systematic thought processes in their life and work. The junior research will understand the difference between opinion, reasoned, judgment and fact and they will be able to judge the credibility of an information source using criteria such as authorship, currency and potential bias that can improve their grant submission and scientific writing skills.

This study aimed to know the effect of questioning strategies to study psychology in the State of Kuwait on developing innovative thinking skills among high school students. The number of study individuals reached (83) students from the eleventh grade, distributed among four classes in two schools that were intentionally chosen , And the number of students of the experimental group reached (21) students, and the students of the control group (19), while the number of students of the experimental group reached (21) students, and the number of students of the control group was (22) students. The study tool was prepared by the researcher himself, which is a skills test Innovative thinking, after verifying their sincerity and reliability. The results showed that there are statistically significant differences in favor of questioning strategies by combining the strategies of the associative / focused probe question, the summit question, and the plateau question in developing innovative thinking skills. As for gender, the superiority in favor of females in innovative thinking skills. The interaction between them had no effect on that, and there were also no statistically significant differences attributed to gender.

The study aimed to reveal the degree of horizontal integration in life skills in the second grade curriculum in Jordan. To achieve the objective of the study، the researcher used the analytical descriptive method.The study sample included the Arabic and Islamic education books and social and national education. The results of the study indicated that manual in its first and second section. The life skills to be included in the sample study books included (51) skills divided into five basic skills: creative thinking skills، problem solving، the communication، dealing with others، decision making. Results also included a harezontal integration in the skills of life between the Arabic language and Islamic educationby (38.3%) ، which is high according to the criterion of the study. There is also a horizontal integration in life skills between the Arabic language book and the social and national education guide by (37.7%)، High percentage، and finally the existence of horizontal integration is very weak in the skills of life between the book of Islamic based on education and the huide of social and national education by (24%). The study came out with several recommendation، the most important of which are: Enrichment of the curriculum on the subject of life skills، and their inclusion in an integrative manner baser on a standard of integration developed by the directorate of curriculum. And taking into account problem solving skills during the construction and design of the curriculum.

Student worksheet (LKS) is one of the learning tools that can enable students in learning. LKS mathematics are widely used basically not in accordance with the characteristics of students and yet accommodate the students to develop their creative thinking skills to solve problems. Such circumstances become one of the triggers of low activity of the students than teachers in learning. This fact necessary to find a solution in the form of developing LKS. This solution is realized in the form of developing LKS Discovery Learning valid oriented, practical, and effective. This type of research is the development of research. This study adopts a model McKenny, consisting of the preliminary analysis phase, design phase, and assessment phase. LKS developed validated by linguists, content and construct. Kepratisan seen through the observation of learning implementation, the questionnaire responses of students and teachers. Effectiveness seen through observation of activities and results of students' creative thinking in finding the concept of learning. The results showed that the Discover LKS oriented Learning to fourth grade have developed valid criteria in terms of content, approach, format, and language. Validity of LKS developed in the category valid. Observation, questionnaires, and interviews indicate that the LKS has been practical in terms of ease of use, time of use, and readability by teachers and students. In addition, LKS developed has also been effective in increasing student activity in learning and can develop creative thinking abilities of students through the novelty of the concept, flexibility and fluency. Based on these results, we can conclude that the LKS oriented Discovery Learning that developed for fourth grade students declared valid, practical, and effective.Keywords:  Mathematics, Discovery Learning, LKS

The present study aimed to prepare a list of the skills of creative thinking and mathematical communication suitable for the students of the second cycle of basic education. The current research used the descriptive approach to suit the objectives of the study. The researcher relied on identifying these skills on previous studies and research related to the current research subject. Studies and examination so that the researcher to formulate a questionnaire, and the researcher through his analysis of those studies to prepare a questionnaire skills required for both innovative thinking and sports communication, and included the identification of innovative thinking skills (The creation of innovative solutions to some engineering problems- the production of geometric shapes- the identification of steps to solve engineering problems- the discovery of new mathematical relations- the solution of mathematical problems in a non- stereotyped manner), and the skills of communication sports three main skills (reading symbols- Mathematical Representation- Mathematical Representation). The importance and relative weight and the value of Ka2 were calculated on the skills of creative thinking and mathematical communication. In light of these results, the research recommended a set of recommendations and suggestions.
