The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of inclusive and segregative physical education classes for students of various medical groups, taking into account sociopsychological indicators and indicators of psychoemotional state. The study involved 1,414 schoolchildren aged 10–16 years (M=12.7, SD=1.6). Through the survey, pupils’ wellbeing, needs, motivations, and motor preferences at their leisure and physical education classes, level of situational and personal anxiety, degree of integration of the group, and motivation for success were ascertained. Data comparisons were made between schoolchildren who studied in segregated and inclusive ways of organizing physical education in schools. Attitudes towards schoolchildren’s physical education and leisure patterns make it possible to assert that an inclusive model is effective. Integrative physical education classes are less mentally traumatic, more convenient, and psychologically comfortable than segregative ones. The way physical education is organized does not affect the level of anxiety and the class’s degree of motivation in achieving success in schoolchildren’s activities. Positive changes in the integrative conditions in the mental state come with all schoolchildren, but they are most noticeable among schoolchildren with low functional reserve capabilities.

With chapter 6 having described the way norms for mental-state ascriptions operate in a top-down manner in discourse domains, chapter 7 explores how individual narratives can in turn have a bottom-up impact on the ascriptive norms circulating within particular domains. To this end, the chapter discusses how Thalia Field’s 2010 experimental narrative Bird Lovers, Backyard employs a strategic oscillation between two nomenclatures that can be used to profile nonhuman as well as human behaviors: (1) the register of action, which characterizes behavior in terms of motivations, goals, and projects; and (2) the register of events, which characterizes behavior in terms of caused movements that have duration in time and direction in space. In braiding together these two registers, Field’s text suggests not only how discourse practices can be repatterned, but also how such repatterning enables broader paradigm shifts—in this case shifts in ways of understanding cross-species encounters and entanglements.

Chapter 4 discusses a “positive” account of madness. The Zhuangist, among others, focuses on the way we can understand an inherent value in madness depending on how we conceive of situations in given perspectives, and that we have reason to resist understanding particular people as mad or disordered objectively. The idea here is to include any mental state that is regularly seen as problematic or getting in the way of efficient or proper human functioning. This chapter also discusses a host of mad or mentally disordered individuals found in early Chinese texts, with the aim of understanding how they fit into the structure built thus far, and how various appearances of these characters (such as the “Madman of Chu”) in different texts will often serve to illustrate the divergent messages about mental disorder we find in these texts.

In this study, the factors affecting the success of university students were analyzed by logistic regression analysis. In the study, success variable was defined according to the survey information applied to 360 university students studying in School of Physical Education and Sport in Çukurova University and Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University in Turkey, in 2017–2018 academic year. The relationship between the answers to the Likert-type scale questions affecting success variables and the course success was estimated by logistic regression analysis. According to the results of the research, because independent variables such as mother’s education status, age, and class were statistically insignificant, they were not included in the multivariate model. According to the findings, variables such as gender, the university they studied, the way they chose their department, and father’s education are seen as important in the growth of students’ academic success. In addition to this, the variables such as counseling about their profession, support of department’s instructors, and communication with instructor have been found to be considerably effective on success. It was observed that the way they chose their department (willingly–compulsorily) was the most effective factor, and father’s education was the second effective factor. As a result, the success levels of the students were found to differ according to the sociodemographic characteristics and their relations with the instructors. On the contrary, as the instructors’ guidance, support, and communication skills are effective contributors on student’s success, it has been concluded that instructors should take these factors into account.

In this article the actual questions arising at the organization and carrying out of discipline of physical education of students of special medical groups in higher education institutions are considered. The authors, based on many years of experience in the University, propose to develop and implement a model of formation of the profile-developing environment for students of special medical groups. Ways to increase the interest of students with disabilities (with diseases of the musculoskeletal system) to systematic physical education are divided into blocks and studied from a scientific point of view. The General model consists of three blocks. In each block, the issues of rehabilitation of students with diseases of the musculo-skeletal system are comprehensively studied.

The results of research of feeding, physical training and medical care of the teenagers who are trained in the establishments of primary professional education are presented. It is established that the hygienic assessment on an indicator “the characteristic of beading” is reflected by UNPO in percentage compliance to standard sizes which fluctuate from 20% to 78%. In the majority of UNPO the equipment of medical offices doesn’t conform to standard requirements. In many UNPO there is a faulty sports equipment, work on physical culture with pupils preparatory and special medical groups isn’t organized.

Scientific progress is fundamentally different from other human activities in that it involves both a venture into the unknown and a desire to change the environment. This type of work cannot be carried out on a routine basis and it requires a certain amount of mental health for its successful completion. The mental state of a researcher is to a large extent influenced by his or her environment; the environment is a crucial factor in the way people react and in a broader context on the development of one’s personality. One of the best‐known writers on personality development is Abraham Maslow (1954), who describes the various levels at which human beings actually function. His view is succinctly formulated by Takacs (1986).

AbstractIt seems important to consider students’ attitudes towards physical education (PE), and the way they learn sports. The present study examines students’ perceptions of motivation and achievement in PE after experiencing three consecutive sport units. Two hundred and thirty seven students from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade in a high school in Burgos (Spain) and two teachers agreed to participate. They were divided into two groups in order to compare two instructional approaches. The experimental group (A), 128 students, experienced Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU), while the control group (B), 109 students, experienced a technical-traditional approach. Each group was taught by a different teacher. The study followed a mixed-method research design with quantitative (questionnaire) and qualitative (interview) data. Results revealed that group A showed greater motivation and achievement in PE than group B. Significant differences were found in achievement. Participants with better academic results in group A were more positive in sport participation. Meanwhile, students who practiced more extracurricular sports in group B were more actively involved in sport. Teachers disagreed greatly on the way sport should be taught in PE.
