This chapter explores the role of sound in The Birds. It is well known that Hitchcock does not use a conventional score in The Birds and music is heard only twice in the film. The rest of the soundtrack consists of dialogue and sound effects. However, prominent among the sound effects are the sounds of the birds themselves that were created with the help of an electronic instrument called the Mixturtrautonium devised and played by Oskar Sala. The Mixturtrautonium was a more sophisticated, “solid state,” version of an older valve instrument called the Trautonium, invented by Sala’s mentor Friedrich Trautwein. The “processed” character of the bird sounds, the complex role they play in the film, and the fact that they sound as if they are made by an “instrument” rather than simply being a “naturalized” sound effect, the chapter argues, all contribute to the sense that sound of the birds functions, in certain respects, like an electronic score, as opposed to a source sound.

The article is devoted to the implementation of gamification methods in the educational process. The characteristic features of light and hard gamification are presented. The appropriateness of using gamification when applying e-learning technology is considered. Classification of courses based on hard gamification taking into account the technological features of development is proposed: courses-presentations, courses — computer games, VR/AR courses. The article also illustrates the use of various game elements of easy gamification using the example of the module “Level up! — Gamification” of the Moodle LMS. The capabilities of this module can be used in an electronic course by any teacher who has the skills of working with the Moodle. The authors present the analysis of the development of a training course in sales techniques using hard and light gamification technologies, where the course development was assessed for its complexity, manufacturability, and resource requirements. The results of the analysis showed that the development of courses using hard gamification requires much more financial and time-consuming than the development of courses using light gamification. The article evaluates the results of the educational intensiveness intense “Island 10–22”, held in July 2019 in Skolkovo, in which 100 university teams, teams of research and educational centers, teams of schoolchildren — winners of competitions, olympiads, hackathons (“Young Talents”) participated. The results of the intense confirmed the effectiveness of the use of light gamification methods in adult training. Thus, the conclusions presented in the article reveal a number of advantages that light gamification has in comparison with hard gamification.

Purpose of the article: to determine the essence of different elements ofsocio-economic space of the region. Construction of the structure and isolationof individual elements of socio-economic space as a multi-vector formation. This article highlights the essence and different approaches to defining theconcepts, structure and mechanisms of formation of economic and social spacesof the region, innovation space as a basic element of socio-economic space.Research Methods: The methodological basis of the research is the fundamentalprinciples of economic theory, regional economy, scientific views and approachesof foreign and domestic scientists. To achieve the purpose of the study, themethods used at the empirical and theoretical levels were used: axiomatic, abstract, system-structural analysis, analogies and comparisons, graphoanalytic,by which the characterization of the nature of the concepts of space, socioeconomic space, as well as innovation space region. Their general properties, structure and functions are described. The criteria of optimality and balancesof interests in the formation of different types of space in the region areconsidered. The classification of the regional space is proposed, and the networkconnections of the innovation space according to components and elements arerevealed, which allows to study deeply the social, economic and other problemsof development of the region.Scientific novelty: the classification of regionalspace by separate constituent elements is proposed. The concept of “innovationspace” was introduced into scientific circulation, the scheme of networkconnections of the innovation space with other elements of the regional socioeconomic space was developed. Conclusions and Prospects for Further Research:In today’s context, it is possible to significantly improve the economic stateof development of Ukrainian regions by using a scientifically sound andcomprehensive approach to defining and studying the concepts of socioeconomic and innovative space. In the further study it is necessary to considerin detail the mechanism of organizational activity of innovation space in theregion. It is very important to pay attention to information support for theformation of the innovation space, the creation of a regional legal field ofinnovation space, mechanisms for coordinating regional innovation activitieswithin the innovation space, as well as the influence of internal and externalfactors on the formation and development of the innovation space.

: Recent studies implicate microbiota-brain communication as an essential factor for physiology and pathophysiology in brain function and neurodevelopment. One of the pivotal mechanisms about gut to brain communication is through the regulation and interaction of gut microbiota on the host immune system. In this review, we will discuss the role of microbiota-immune systeminteractions in human neurological disorders. The characteristic features in the development of neurological diseases include gut dysbiosis, the disturbed intestinal/Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) permeability, the activated inflammatory response, and the changed microbial metabolites. Neurological disorders contribute to gut dysbiosis and some relevant metabolites in a top-down way. In turn, the activated immune system induced by the change of gut microbiota may deteriorate the development of neurological diseases through the disturbed gut/BBB barrier in a down-top way. Understanding the characterization and identification of microbiome-immune- brain signaling pathways will help us to yield novel therapeutic strategies by targeting the gut microbiome in neurological disease.

Musicians have long framed their creative activity within constraints, whether imposed externally or consciously chosen. As noted by Leonard Meyer, any style can be viewed as an ensemble of constraints, requiring the features of the artwork to conform with accepted norms. Such received stylistic constraints may be complemented by additional, voluntary limitations: for example, using only a limited palette of pitches or sounds, setting rules to govern repetition or transformation, controlling the formal layout and proportions of the work, or limiting the variety of operations involved in its creation. This chapter proposes a fourfold classification of the limits most often encountered in music creation into material (absolute and relative), formal, style/genre, and process constraints. The role of constraints as a spur and guide to musical creativity is explored in the domains of composition, improvisation, performance, and even listening, with examples drawn from contemporary composers including György Ligeti, George Aperghis, and James Tenney. Such musical constraints are comparable to self-imposed limitations in other art forms, from film (the Dogme 95 Manifesto) and visual art (Robert Morris’s Blind Time Drawings) to the writings of authors associated with the Oulipo (Ouvroir de littérature potentielle) such as Georges Perec and Raymond Queneau.

The aim of the work is to find relevant indicators for assessing the relationship between investments in fixed assets in agriculture, gross output of the industry, and agricultural exports using tools for modeling the impact of innovation and investment development on increasing production and export potential in the context of the formation of an export-oriented agricultural economy. The modeling methodology and the proposed estimating and forecasting tools for diagnosing and monitoring the state of sectoral and regional innovative agricultural systems are used to analyze the relationship between investments in fixed assets in agriculture, gross output of the industry, and agricultural exports based on the construction of the classification of Russian regions by factors that aggregate these features to diagnose incongruence problems and to improve institutional management in regional innovative export-oriented agrosystems. Based on the results of the factor analysis application, an underestimated role of indicators of investment in agriculture, the intensity and efficiency of agricultural production, were established. Based on the results of the cluster analysis, the established five groups of regions were identified, with significant differences in the level of investment in agriculture, the volume of production of the main types of agricultural products, and the export and exported food. The research results are of practical value for use in improving institutional management when planning reforms and transformations of regional innovative agrosystems.
