According to the results of processing satellite images of mining landscapes formed during the extraction and processing of diamond-containing ore, the coefficients of self-restoration of vegetation cover are determined. It has been established that in the mid-mountain and subpolar climate, at intensive rates of open-pit diamond mining, a very slow formation of all types of vegetation cover occurs, which does not meet the requirements of restoring the ecological balance when conducting business operations by diamond mining enterprises.

The results of processing satellite images of mining landscapes formed during the extraction and processing of diamond-containing ore are presented, the coefficients of self-restoration of vegetation cover are determined. It has been established that in the conditions of a sharply continental climate, transitioning to a subpolar one, at intensive rates of developing diamond deposits by an open method, all types of vegetation cover are slowly forming, which does not meet the requirements for restoring the ecological balance when conducting business with diamond mining enterprises.

In the article, the process of water purification mainly from suspended particles of clay mineral saponite is considered. Those particles are formed during the process of diamond mining in the quarry water of M.V. Lomonosov Mining and Processing Plant owned by PJSC «Severalmaz». The scheme of the existing technology of sedimentation of suspended particles using the acoustic method is shown. Using the granulometry method the size of suspended particles in free volume was studied, and the sedimentation rate of suspended substances was calculated using Stokes' formula. The mineral composition of suspended particles in the quarry water is determined using Х-ray phase analysis. Calculations of the sedimentation rates of suspended particles are given for aluminum sulfate – traditionally used in water clarification – and for calcium-aluminosilicate reagent developed when taking into account the mineral composition. The results of measurements of pH of the clarified water, the content of residual aluminum, and the indicator of turbidity of the water are shown

The article presents the results of a research study of anthropogenic affects of gold mining on forest landscapes in Northern Transbaikalia, Russia and processes of natural reclamation of vegetation cover of the disturbed areas. The study area is located northwest of the Maliy Amalat River, which flows along the Vitim Plateau; in the floodplains of its two tributaries the Aunik River and the Bagdarin River. It is an area where a large number of alluvial gold deposits have been discovered. Some of these deposits are currently being developed, some have already been explored, and some have been abandoned. The authors consider the current state of vegetation cover in a key area of the Amalat River basin, near villages of Malovsky and Bagdarin. The problem of natural resources development and conservation is becoming extremely important for the area under study because open-pit gold mining methods that are used here drastically change the environment and affect water, land and forest resources.

<p>Musan mine in North Korea is the largest open-pit iron mine in Asia with the proved reserves of about 2.06 billion tons and more than 9 square kilometers. Open-pit mining is one of the surface mining technique extracting minerals from the surface. Vegetation is rarely distributed at the mining site because the topsoil is removed and the ore is mined directly from the surface. Therefore, it is effective to observe surface displacement at the mining site using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technology. InSAR coherence detects random surface change that measures the activity or stability of the interferometric phase of InSAR data. High coherence will be maintained on the surface where there is no movement and only surface scattering. On the other hand, the surface where there is a lot of movement and volumetric scattering has low coherence value. Therefore, using 12-days InSAR coherence images from Sentinel-1 satellites, for example, it is possible to analyze how active the open-pit mine is during the 12 days. Sentinel-1A satellite images were acquired from June 11, 2015 to May 24, 2016, followed by Sentine-1B satellite images from September 27, 2016 to April 21, 2019. A total of 102 SAR images were downloaded from European Space Agency (ESA) portal. There is a gap between May 24 and September 27, 2016 due to the transition of the data acquisition plan. Over 100 12-days coherence data were obtained by applying InSAR. Stable spots and target spots were selected through average and standard deviation of the entire coherence time series data. Coherence values include not only the mining activity but also the effects of perpendicular baseline, temporal baseline, and weather. Therefore, NDAI (Normalized Difference Activity Index) was newly defined to remove the noise and only the coherence value due to the influence of the mining activity was extracted. The degree of activities can be observed by the time series coherence and NDAI images. This study needs other references related to mining activities in order to analyze the mining activities in more detail. This method can be applied to other open-pit mine.</p>

The results of remote monitoring of the rates of restoration of vegetation cover are presented. It is concluded that for a full restoration of the ecological balance on the lands disturbed by mining operations, a long period of time will be required.

Existing measures for the suppression of dust and gas emissions during mass explosions at the quarry of a mining and processing plant were investigated. Measures have been developed to reduce dust and gas emissions, taking into account the analysis of existing measures to suppress dust and gas emissions from mass explosions in the open pit of the mining and processing plant of Lebedinsky GOK. The studies of surface active substances on the wettability of dust particles. In order to improve working conditions, it was proposed to reduce dust and gas emissions by suppressing them at the source of education, using the method of wetting and sticking of dust particles. The proposed engineering - technical solution can be used to reduce dust and gas emissions during massive explosions in the quarries of various mining and processing enterprises. The developed method is proposed to be used to ensure environmental safety and improve working conditions in industries with high dustiness by increasing the efficiency of dust collection.

The study, which covered "study the dynamics of the Minawao vegetation cover and its surroundings (Far North, Cameroon), took place in five villages: Minawao, Gawar, Sabongari, Windé and Zamay. The main objective was to help manage the impacts of populations on the Minawao vegetation cover and its surroundings in order to improve the living conditions of refugees and local populations. In each village, floristic surveys were carried out in 5 plants formations (shrub savannah, forest gallery, tree savannah, field and dwellings). For satellite images, the 14-year interval (2006 to 2020) was retained. Analysis of the data identified 23 species, 21 gender and 14 families over the 120 hectares of study area. The annual rate of regression indicates that the village of Minawao and the river side villages are experiencing more degradation after the settlement of refugees than before, with their respective regression rates of -10.81 ha/year and -8.93 ha/year. The maximum carbon is stored by Acacia albida (11.77 tC/ha) and Tamarindus indica (8.11 t/ha). The total amount of carbon in this area is 32.32 tC/ha.

O mapeamento e monitoramento da cobertura vegetal receberam consideráveis impulsos nas últimas décadas, com o advento do sensoriamento remoto, processamento digital de imagens e políticas de combate ao desmatamento, além dos avanços nas pesquisas e gerações de novos sensores orbitais e sua distribuição de forma mais acessível aos usuários, tornam as imagens de satélite um dos produtos do sensoriamento remoto mais utilizado para análises da cobertura vegetal das terras. Os índices de cobertura vegetal deste trabalho foram obtidos usando o NDVI - Normalized Difference Vegetation Index para o Agreste central de Pernambuco indicou 39,7% de vegetação densa, 13,6% de vegetação esparsa, 14,3% de vegetação rala e 10,5% de solo exposto. O NDVI apresentou uma caracterização satisfatória para a classificação do estado da vegetação do ano de 2007 para o Agreste Central pernambucano, porém ocorreu uma confusão com os índices de nuvens, sombras e solos exposto, necessitando de uma adaptação na técnica para um melhor aprimoramento da diferenciação desses elementos, constituindo numa recombinação de bandas após a elaboração e calculo do NDVI.Palavras-chave: Geoprocessamento; sensoriamento remoto; índice de vegetação. Mapping and Quantification of Vegetation Cover from Central Agreste Region of Pernambuco State Using NDVI Technique ABSTRACTIn recent decades, advanced techniques for mapping and monitoring vegetation cover have been developed with the advent of remote sensing. New tools for digital processing, the generation of new sensors and their orbital distribution more accessible have facilitated the acquisition and use of satellite images, making them one of the products of remote sensing more used for analysis of the vegetation cover. The aim of this study was to assess the vegetation cover from Central Agreste region of Pernambuco State, using satellite images TM / LANDSAT-5. The images were processed using the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) technique, generating indexes used for classification of vegetation in dense, sparse and scattered. There was a proportion of 39.7% of dense vegetation, 13.6% of sparse vegetation, 14.3% of scattered vegetation and 10.5% of exposed soil. NDVI technique has been used as a useful tool in the classification of vegetation on a regional scale, however, needs improvement to a more precise differentiation among levels of clouds, shadow, exposed soils and vegetation.
