Background: Serious games are the addition of game elements in order to motivate the user to participate more in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to design PharmQuiz educational game application in order to learn pharmaceutical information in the introductory internship course of pharmacy for incoming pharmacy students in2020. Methods: After reviewing the studies, the puzzle and matching mechanisms were selected for the game. The RAD software design model was used in order to design and implement, the game application was coded in Java programming languages. The game engine is unity and MySQL and PHP languages were used to implement the game database, which contains learners’ scores. Results: A total 70 students participate in the study. The mean age of the study participants was 22 years. Average student scores show that most students have used the PharmQuiz game app repeatedly. A survey of faculty members of the Clinical Department of the School of Pharmacy showed that 100% of the members agreed that the game improves the quality of learning. Conclusion: According to the positive attitude of students regarding the PharmQuiz educational game application and their welcome in using this application, it can be said that PharmQuiz game application is a useful tool to increase the motivation of students to study the introductory internship course of pharmacy and also to participate more in the educational process. This application can be used at higher levels as well as for learning pharmaceutical information in other medical sciences.

BACKGROUND: Doctor-patient relationship [DPR] refers to verbal and non-verbal communication between doctor and patient, which is of great importance in consultation sessions. AIM: Therefore, the present study attempts to explore the importance and value of DPR in Iran. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The method used in the study was conventional content analysis. The data were collected from 21 faculty members (FMs) of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS), Shiraz, Iran, who participated in three focus group discussions (FGDs). Transcribed data were analysed using Conventional Content Analysis (CCA) which identified condensed meaning units, subthemes, and themes. RESULTS: Four themes were extracted from 198 meaning units, 87 condensed meaning units, and 17 subthemes. These included gateway [the role of DPR]; nonlinearity [the nature of DPR]; distortion (quality of DPR in the context); and dysfunctional system (weakness in health system). Generally, results showed DPR to be the gateway to consultations based on non-verbal communication and doctor empathy. The study showed distorted DPR which was due to the dysfunctionality of the health care system. CONCLUSION: As indicated DPR plays an important role in medical contexts, but if distorted it leads to an unsuccessful outcome. Therefore, to promote DPR, it is necessary to reinforce its structure. Thus, the infrastructure has to be modified and developed at all levels.

The role and place of applied tasks in the learning process are analyzed, their didactic functions, methods of formulation and solution are analyzed. Ways to improve the methodology of application of tasks in the learning process are identified. On the basis of the theoretical analysis the possibilities of increase of level and quality of knowledge as a result of wide application in educational process of such tasks are shown; the ways of expansion of their functions, improvement of a technique of their application in the course of training are described. The possibility of using the projectmethod in educational activities, ways to solve the problem of using modern digital technologies at different stages of students' project activities are partially outlined. It is noted that the subject specificity of professional activity of teachers gives the chance to use means of modern communication at various stages of performance of creative projects, combining technical means with the newest educational technologies. The training of future teachers it is effective on the basis of ICT (programming languages, application software, cloud services, Internet resources, etc.).

Radiology gamification articles were examined to determine the purpose and effect of games on the target audience and to provide a basis for researchers who aim to develop a new gamification. The articles related to radiology gamification, games, and simulations were retrieved from databases, including ProQuest, Springer, Cochrane Library, Ovid, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science via electronic search. To assess the quality of the articles Prisma and CASP checklists were used. Finally, according to the inclusion criteria, the appropriate articles were selected. Among 6917 retrieved articles, only 13 articles were related to radiology gamification, two of which were related to the analysis of the effects of radiology gamification in different areas such as differential diagnosis, education, dental radiology, and the number of drugs taken for imaging. These studies show that radiology gamification is few, and there are different forms of gamification, including but not limited to board games, physical games, and video games. Furthermore, in designing an educational game, learner’s characteristics, educational goals, and developing educational content are major steps. © 2019 Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Nurses' professional and ethical performances are influenced by the health organizations' environment, and high quality and holistic care can only be provided by observing the principles of professional ethics and organizational commitment. Therefore, this study aimed at investigating the relationship between professional ethics and organizational commitment in nurses. This descriptive-analytic study was conducted in hospitals affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) in 2019 in Iran. The study participants included 210 public ward nurses selected using the stratified random sampling method. Data were collected using Petty Professional Ethics and Allen-Meyer Organizational Commitment questionnaires, and then analyzed by SPSS V.25. Both the mean score of the nurses' professional ethics (102.21 ± 10.89) and the mean score of the nurses' organizational commitment (95.30 ± 16.54) were at high levels. Moreover, a direct and significant relationship was found between professional ethics and organizational commitment (P= 0.009, r = 0.179). In other words, a positive correlation was found between professional ethics and organizational commitment. Considering the relationship between professional ethics and organizational commitment in nurses, managers should enhance nurses' level of adherence to ethical principles, organizational commitment and organizational attachment. Additionally, training courses can help improve nurses' professional capabilities, and hence enhancing the quality of providing healthcare services.

Background and objectives: Medical consultations became undeniable elements for the quality of health care and training of medical residence. This study aimed to assess the quality of performed consultations. Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study at Shohadaye Tajrish hospital, affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, in Tehran, Iran between 20th April 2018 and 4th May 2019. The reported items and quality score of medical consultation requests and responses between emergency and non-emergency consultations and between the faculty members and medical residents were assessed by SPSS version 21.0. Results: Among 431 medical consultations, most were non-emergency, requested by residents, and responded to by faculty members. The quality of consultations requested (p < 0.001) or responded (p < 0.001) by faculty members was higher than by medical residents. Higher year residents performed higher quality consultation requests (p = 0.008) and responses (p < 0.001). The quality score of consultation requests (p = 0.51) and responses (p = 0.1) had no significant difference between types of consultation. Conclusion: Underreported items of consultation impressed its quality. Faculty members and higher-year residents performed higher quality consultations.

Abstract Background The growing need for clinicians with antimicrobial stewardship (AS) skills has resulted in an examination of educational methods for pharmacy and medical learners. This study explores characteristics associated with student assessment of didactic infectious diseases (ID) education quality and variables associated with a career interest in ID and/or AS. Methods Infectious diseases faculty from US pharmacy schools were sent a 15-question survey in September 2017. Faculty members e-mailed the survey link to graduating pharmacy students. Results Participants from 29 pharmacy schools, representing 21 states, resulted in 537 student responses. Quality of ID didactic education was rated as Very Good by 41%, Good by 40%, Acceptable by 14%, and Poor by 4% of participants. The mean number of faculty-provided learning resources differed by quality rating and was significantly associated with perceived educational needs. Infectious diseases was identified as a career interest by 29% of students. These students more frequently rated their ID didactic education as Very Good (52% vs 37%, P &lt; .01) and were more likely to become interested in ID during or after it was taught in pharmacy school (39% vs 21%, P &lt; .01). Conclusions In this cohort of graduating pharmacy students, the perceived quality of didactic ID education was associated with a career interest in ID and/or AS. Factors associated with quality of education were quantity and quality of faculty-provided resources. Increasing the quality of the didactic ID curriculum has potential to increase interest in ID/AS careers among pharmacy students.

The process of implementing a systematic and integrated evaluation program for the faculty members of universities needs svarious resources and methods. In this regard, a portfolio has been introduced as a tool that reflects the performance of the faculty members, and represents the activities and developments of teachers through the evaluation of educational documents. In recent years, the use of electronic portfolios has been considered in the medical universities an example of which is Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Accordingly, the document/electronic portfolio of the faculty members was developed which aimed at registration and evaluation process in determining duties of teachers at this University. The electronic educational portfolio was designed electronically which includes panels on teaching quantity, quality of educational performance, evaluation of documentation, research and technology, and executive-managerial activities. The results of the project can be used in the process of annual promotion, achieving grants, rewards and presenting performance and management report.

The purpose of the paper is to improve the methods of using test technologies in the educational process and to develop an optimal schedule for conducting tests in higher education when teaching programming languages. The article considers the advantages and disadvantages of test technologies. The author investigates the effectiveness of one-time and step-by-step testing and studies the role of testing at different stages of the educational process. In the course of the study, the author used written and computer forms of testing. The paper shows that step-by-step testing is more effective than one-time testing. The article identifies the expediency of testing that precedes the implementation of practical work. The results of the study allow us to develop an optimal schedule for conducting tests, which contributes to improving the quality of learning material and increasing students’ motivation.
