Purpose: The purpose of this research is to describe the different empathy for children in late childhood with secure attachment, avoidance attachment, and ambivalent/resistant attachment patterns. The subjects consist of children aged 10/11 – 12/13 years old that were born and lived by the mothers. Methodology: The method used in this research is the quantitative method by conducting significance testing. The data of child empathy variables are taken by semi-projective measuring tool of questions in order to explore the cognitive, affective, and motivational aspects. On the other hand, the data of attachment patterns for mother-child variables are obtained through the measuring tool in the form of force choices in which each item directly indicates the attachment pattern of the child. Results: The result of the hypothesis depicts that F = 0.673 with p = 0.415, that is p > 0.05 refers to the decline of the hypothesis. It clearly states that there is no difference found on children in late childhood with secure attachment, avoidance attachment, and ambivalent/resistant attachment. Implications: As a summary, the child empathy reviewed on each attachment pattern to the mother is not evident. This might happen due to the not-varied data as the research sample which is merely obtained at the school and other factors that affect the development of empathy of children in addition to the attachment pattern of the child with his mother.

AbstractThis study aims to discover the influents of Mudharabah and Musyarakah income towards BRI Syariah profitability. The researcher applied the quantitative method using two variables. They are mudharabah and musyarakah (x) and profitability (y). The research samples are quarterly financial report published by BRI Syariah during 2010-2015 periods. Research data are initially exposed to a classical assumption test in order to check whether those data are compatible for hypothesis test. The classical assumption test includes normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelations and heteroscedasticity test. Based on the hypothesis test, the dependent variable which can be explained by the independent variables is 29,9 % while the rest 71,1 % are explained by other variables. The simultant test (F) shows that variable x is influenced by variable y. it is proven by a p-value that is smaller than the level of significant (0,027 < 0,05). On the other hand, musyarakah is not affected since the p-value is bigger than the level of significant (0,319 > 0.15).Keywords :Mudharabah, Musyarakah, Profitability

This chapter examines the history of some challenges to John Bowlby’s and Mary Ainsworth’s ethological attachment theory (EAT). Bowlby and Ainsworth argued that the mother-infant relationship is a natural dyad designed by evolution in which the instinctual responses of one party activate instinctual responses in the other, and that secure attachment is an adaptation. This chapter focuses on EAT’s two fundamental tenets: the universality of attachment patterns and the biological foundations of the attachment system. It shows that several scholars have challenged those tenets over the years and argues that attachment researchers have not addressed those challenges successfully.

Phobia on the other hand is an intense feeling of fear towards objects, animals, activities, situations or persons. However, many people do not know they suffered from phobia. Any fear during childhood might develop into phobias. People with phobias are most likely to avoid any place or situation that might trigger their fear so that they feel relief. They also keep their phobia to themselves and not telling other people about it. Besides, they are most likely refuse to go to receive treatment from psychiatrist or therapist. This is due to the norm of the society that seeing psychiatrist or therapist means that person suffering from mental health, which is embarrassing. This paper identified the types of phobia among Malaysian for preliminary investigation for reducing phobia through gaming approach. The quantitative method based on questionnaires, which contains of 18 questions used in the random online survey. The set of questions are adapted from Fear of Spiders Questionnaire. The higher the marks are the higher the state of phobia of the individuals will be. It is hope that by identifying the types of phobia may use to suggest an alternative gaming tool in reducing phobia.

This study aims to examine the use of lexical elements in kid talks. Mila Stauffer is a four-year-old celebrity who has four million followers on her Instagram account. Mila is known as a child who frequently shares her thoughts about particular topics, expressively, and comprehensively. The researchers are interested in Mila Stauffer because her Instagram videos have many viewers and comments. Numerous Instagram users also like her because she is different from the children that have the same age as her. In order to analyze Mila’s opinion about some topics through videos, lexical cohesion played an important role in the present study. To obtain an in-depth study of lexical cohesion, this study then analyzed ten Instagram videos with the available subtitle. The data of the study were collected through the Instagram account, Kcstauffer. The researchers applied a quantitative method in analyzing the lexical cohesion. Furthermore, the lexical cohesion analysis proposed by Halliday & Hasan has been used in the present study. The study revealed that, as analysed from Mila’s talk, there are differences between kids and adults in terms of the use of repetition. Further, repetition plays an important role in kids talk; one of which is to achieve cohesiveness in speaking. On the other hand, the least lexical cohesive devices used in a kid talk is superordinate.

This research work investigates pragmatic transfers in Okedokun’s Mopelola: The Tale of a Beauty Goddess. It aims at identifying, analyzing and interpreting pragmatic features through which specific meanings are conveyed in the selected play. In the attempt to reach this goal, the data are randomly collected from the whole play on the basis of a quantitative method. Then, the statistical results are qualitatively discussed and interpreted in terms of their frequency distribution. The findings show a predominance of pragmatic transfer of loan words representing 33.33% followed by proverbs 32.14% and loan-blends 16.16%. Transfers of greetings, insults and apology are low as they represent respectively 3.57%, 3.57%, and 2.38% whereas other transfers such as request, gratitude, offer, blaming/reproaching and advice are almost nonexistent. The high proportions of loan words as well as proverbs suggest the author’s determination to value Yoruba culture and tradition. The almost important proportion of loan-blends constitutes a strategy for the author to attract readers’ attention on the various authentic Yoruba expressions. The presence of transfer in greetings stresses the peculiarity of Yoruba culture characterized by the expression of profound respect to elderly people. On the other hand, the presence of insults indicates that though Yoruba culture is characterized by the expression of profound respect, some Yoruba people, as the black sheep, do develop arrogance in contradiction to their culture.

Introduction. Many automatic computers employ magnetic drums or ultrasonic delay lines as their main store. A part of the time taken by a computation on such a machine is spent in waiting for words to become available from the store. A number of methods and devices have been used or suggested to reduce this waste of time. This paper attempts to evaluate these methods by determining on the one hand the amount of waiting time eliminated and on the other hand the design or programming complications introduced. No quantitative method for determining the amount of eliminated waiting time was known. Available estimates were based on the feeling of the programmer and varied accordingly. It was therefore necessary in the first place to develop a process by which the amount of waiting time eliminated by any given method could be determined. This process is set out while being applied to the methods discussed. The methods themselves are not new, except that closer analysis has shown that the method adopted with the ACE pilot model and known as ‘optimum programming’ is in fact not a single method but a combination of several methods with different features. Also, it appeared that, contrary to an opinion expressed elsewhere (2), there is a simple way of staggering locations in the store even with words of two lengths.
