MODERNIZATION AND GLOBALIZATION IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE MASS MEDIA

Purpose of the study: This research is a humble effort to ascertain what constitutes the connection between our prevailing societies, culture, and mass media; it is an effort to delve into the realm of the circumstances and conditions that cause the three of them to be intertwined. Methodology: Qualitative research method has been used to analyze & explore the confusing and increasing connection between predominant societies and mass media. Main Findings: The cultural effervescence, richness, and vibrancy of the globe are at stake and this cannot be further ignored. Because of the unrelenting cultural promotion of the dominant powers by the use of the media in the developing world, the younger generation is blissfully unaware of the rich local cultures, traditions, and values that their predecessors held in these countries. Application of the study: The present study may be applied to understand the consequences of Mass media after its advancement & globalization.

The objective of this article is to determine how event organizers collaborate with stakeholders including the media, particular community, sponsors, participants, venue providers, accommodation providers, carteres, legal and finance personnel, production, local trade, transportation providers, government and associations for implementation Public Relations event. This paper discusses about the things that must be done for the cooperation and the benefits of cooperation undertaken. The method used in this paper is qualitative research method based on observations, literature and case studies. The results of this research note that the event organizers or companies can together with the stakeholders (the other party) make an event as mutually beneficial Public Relations. This means that all parties can achieve through the event. At the conclusion of an event Public Relations, all stakeholders involved for their own purposes. Event organizer must ensure that all stakeholders work together effectively in accordance with the agreed schedule and budget. One important feature of the agreement is to maintain a good flow of communication according to the needs of its stakeholders. All information is documented to avoid misunderstandings. Collaboration between stakeholders continuously until the event is completed. Discussion of issues that arise during the event takes place between the committee with various stakeholders is an important thing for the evaluation and response to the events that occurred.

This research is motivated by the development of the spread of symbols of satanism in the modern era that mushroomed in various mass media, especially video clips to give and deliver messages. One of the top bands named Dewa 19 has symbols associated with symbols of satanism and spread the symbol through the media video clips of the songs of God 19. The focus of this study is the meaning of video clip symbols scattered on each video clip kara band Dewa 19. The theory used is Charles Sanders Peirce Semiotics theory which has a triadic model and trichotomy concept consisting of Representamen, interpretant, and object. The research method used in this research is qualitative research with descriptive type. The results of the research found that the meaning of the symbols scattered in each of the video clips of the band Dewa 19 is the result of the symbolic representation of satanism, among others: Horus's Eye, Pyramid Terpanchung, Chessboard Chess, Photo of Satan Church Founder, God Ra, ANKH SymbolKeywords: semiotics, satanism, Dewa 19, symbols.

Libraries have used media development as part of the culture to influence people to use the library. An example of the use of media as a means of mediation is the PerpuSeru program. Previously, this program partnered with 34 libraries, but currently, the PerpuSeru program has partnered with more than 400 libraries and reading parks in Indonesia. One of the media used in transferring information is Instagram; PerpuSeru has an Instagram account namely @perpuseru in which various information about the PerpuSeru program is available and the extent to which the program is running. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the followers’ perceptions in receiving information provided on the @ perpuseru Instagram by decoding-encoding theory, to examine the extent this theory developed in a media in the present era, and the role the theory played in the media. This study used the descriptive qualitative research method by interviewing some followers of the @perpuseru account. The result found two different views from followers, namely followers with a hegemonic dominant point of view who accepted all the content of information conveyed, and others with a negative perspective who had other considerations in receiving information on the posts of @perpuseru account. However, there were no followers with optional viewpoints. It can be concluded that the two perspectives of @perpuseru Instagram followers are the hegemonic and negative perspective.

The implementation of a scientific approach is something that needs to be studied more deeply in order to create an active and efficient learning process. This study aims to determine the implementation of learning plans and the application of the scientific approach by science teachers. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method which is also known as naturalistic research. The result of this study is that the science teacher understands the theoretical scientific approach, and is equipped with a plan in the RPP document which is prepared before the lesson takes place. In the process of applying the scientific approach, it takes a longer time to carry out observations, where the media displayed is limited to the use of simple paper, due to the limited supporting learning media such as LCD projectors, and so on.

The aims of this study are to know the Teachers’ Strategies on Teaching Reading Comprehension of Recount Text at Grade X of SMA Negeri 1 Simpang Empat. It was conducted by using qualitative research method. The subjects of this study are two English teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Simpang Empat. The two teachers taught at Grade X. They chosen as the subject which were observed and interviewed. The writer used two instruments, they were observation and interview. This study found that the teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Simpang Empat used appropriate strategy in teaching reading comprehension of recount text and using the media to make the students be motivated and interested in learning. The teachers guided and managed the students in comprehending the material. The teachers' reason in using strategies is because the students get difficulties in comprehending the material if the teachers were used the traditional teaching strategies. The implementation of the strategy adapted by the teachers with the material, the indicator, the purpose of learning on the syllabus and curriculumn. All of the students were active and motivated in teaching and learning process. They were also brave to share the idea, asked the teacher when they found the problem on learning the material and answer the question that given by the teacher.

This study aims to describe: 1) the implementation of centers of preparation in developing verbal linguistic intelligence, 2) supporting factors and obstacles to the implementation of preparation centers in developing verbal linguistic intelligence. This type of research is a qualitative research method with the principal subject of research, teachers, students aged 5-6 years. Data collection is done using the method of observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that: 1) the implementation of the method of preparation center in developing verbal linguistic intelligence was carried out with 3 stage, 2) supporting factors in the implementation of preparation centers, namely: a) the media provided varies or the availability of complete facilities and infrastructure, b) learning based on age classification c) programmed learning. while the inhibiting factors are: a) the condition of the guardian of the student who does not understand the method of preparation center, b) the mood of the changing child c) the media that do not support the difficult theme d) not all teachers graduate from PAUD.

ABSTRACTSmall Industry is one of the most potential industries in Sukabumi City. The stakeholders strive to always develop Small Industry because this industry has contributed to the improvement of people's economy and become one of the tourist destinations in the city of Sukabumi. Therefore, the participation of various parties is needed for the sustainability of this Small Industry. The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the inter-organizational linkages capacity of stakeholders in developing Small Industry in Sukabumi City. This research used the qualitative research method. Data were collected through observations, interviews, literature study and triangulation technique to ensure data validity. The results showed that coordination among stakeholders is still not working properly. In addition, communication between the parties is still not effective and promotion channels through the media are also limited. Para pemangku kepentingan (stakeholders) berupaya untuk selalu mengembangkan Industri Kecil karena industri ini telah memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan perekonomian masyarakat dan menjadi salah satu destinasi wisata di Kota Sukabumi. Oleh karena itu, peran serta berbagai pihak sangat dibutuhkan untuk keberlanjutan Industri Kecil ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh deskripsi tentang kapasitas inter-organizational linkages para pemangku kepentingan (stakeholders) dalam mengembangkan Industri Kecil di Kota Sukabumi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara, studi literatur dan teknik triangulasi untuk analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa koordinasi yang dilakukan diantara para pemangku kepentingan masih belum berjalan sebagaimana mestinya. Selain itu, komunikasi diantara para pihak juga masih belum efektif dan saluran promosi melalui media juga masih terbatas. Kata kunci: Kapasitas inter-organizational linkages

Quran is "the way of life" for Muslims. Reading Quran with tarteel is a must (Fardhu Ain). Therefore, TVRI as a public television that has a vision of educating the life of the nation contributed to invite audiences to improve their ability to read Quran with tarteel. This study aimed to determine what efforts made by TVRI to improve audiences’ knowledge in reading Quran with tarteel. Qualitative research method used in this study with in-depth interview. Informant in this study was a producer who has ideas to create programs TELETILAWAH Serambi Islami on Friday edition. The analysis used Theories of influences on Mass Media Content introduced by Pamela J Shoemaker and Stephen D. Reese. The results of this study found a large number of audiences’ attention to these programs and increased their awareness to read the Quran with tarteel.

The limited use of Jawi in the media has become a new challenge to Jawi enthusiasts. The influence of globalization and the community’s perception on Jawi has resulted in a state of concern regarding the use of Jawi especially in the mass media. Therefore, this study aims to obtain the perception of Malay students at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) pertaining to the use of Jawi in the mass media. The main objective of this study is to examine the perception of Malay students in UNITEN upon the use of Jawi and the preservation of Jawi in the media. The Malay students represent the young generation in the society. This study employed a quantitative research method using questionnaire survey as a source of information regarding the issue investigated. The data obtained was analyzed using SPSS software version 20. The results showed that majority of the respondents had the idea that Jawi should be well-placed in the mass media. One of the important recommendations provided by the respondents is the role of the local authorities to make it compulsory for Jawi scripts to be on billboards and advertisements. This study is important as reference for the concerned parties for actions to be taken for the preservation of Jawi. Keywords: Jawi script, Jawi preservation, media Penggunaan tulisan Jawi yang terhad di media telah menjadi cabaran baru kepada para pencinta tulisan Jawi. Pengaruh globalisasi serta persepsi masyarakat terhadap tulisan Jawi telah mewujudkan satu keadaan yang membimbangkan tentang tahap penggunaan tulisan Jawi terutamanya di media massa. Oleh itu, kajian ini berhasrat untuk mendapatkan persepsi dari kalangan pelajar Melayu di Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) berkaitan penggunaan tulisan Jawi di media massa. Objektif utama kajian ini adalah untuk menilai persepsi pelajar Melayu di UNITEN berkaitan usaha pemeliharaan tulisan Jawi dan penggunaan tulisan Jawi di media. Pelajar Melayu ini merupakan golongan muda yang mewakili generasi baru dalam masyarakat. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah penyelidikan secara kuantitatif yang menggunakan borang soal selidik sebagai sumber maklumat berkaitan isu yang dikaji. Data yang diperolehi telah dianalisis menggunakan perisian SPSS versi 20. Hasil kajian menunjukkan majoriti responden berpendapat bahawa tulisan Jawi perlu mendapat kedudukan yang baik di media massa. Antara cadangan penting yang diberikan oleh responden adalah peranan pihak berkuasa tempatan untuk mewajibkan penggunaan tulisan Jawi pada papan tanda dan iklan. Kajian ini penting sebagai bahan rujukan kepada pihak berkaitan untuk tindakan seterusnya sebagai salah satu usaha pemeliharaan tulisan Jawi. Grebeg Giling is one of the traditions of Karanganyar Regency which was held in the early days of sugar cane milling with various processions and applicable provisions. The tradition takes place at the Tasikmadu Sugar Factory and always held once a year on a certain date. Today's, millennial generation can be said to be indifferent to the existence of this tradition as evidenced by how their participation in the existing tradition. The purpose of this research is to convey the true meaning of the implementation of these traditions and make the millennial generation aware of the importance of the tradition as a local wisdom. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative research method with a terminology approach and content analysis. The results of this study show that the Grebeg Giling tradition is increasingly being pushed aside by the younger generation and the waning of the true meaning of the tradition. The implication of this research is to invite the community to preserve the traditions so that the true meaning of Grebeg Giling does not just disappear and the community is able to understand the existing values.
