Background: Adequate health systems and effective strategies are needed to increase trust and acceptance in vaccines. Generation Z is more concerned with environmental issues related to the pandemic situation. Objective: This study aimed to assess the acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine in Generation Z.Methods: This was an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design on generation Z in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, from May to July 2021. The samples were taken by cluster sampling using faculty classification. Data was collected using a questionnaire with a google form, included the characteristics, knowledge regarding COVID-19 and vaccine, and the media information. Results: There were 396 participants. Most of them were 20 years (52.6%), female (74.8%), and Muslim (93.7%). About 61.6% live outside the city and had insurance (77.3%). Half of the participants knew the COVID-19 symptoms (51.26%), some participants were hesitant (11.8%) and did not even know (0.76%). Almost all participants were aware of the COVID-19 vaccination program (99.2%), benefits (95.2%), side effects (84.1%), and knew the contents of the COVID-19 vaccine (62.1%). Most of them were willing to take the COVID-19 vaccine (77.8%). However, 17.93% were hesitant, and 4.29% were unwilling to participate. Most participants were not trusting vaccines (43.9%), did not feel the need (29.3%), and felt access was not easy (26.8%). Most of them used social media to get information about COVID-19 (89.1%).Conclusion: Generation Z has a good acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine, even though there are still doubts and rejects. Accurately and sustainable information is needed.

Background: The emergency departments of the hospitals and emergency medical services (EMSs) centers have a critical role for providing urgent medical care for patients. The statistical data of the present study were provided by the EMS headquarters of the city of Isfahan, from August to November 2017. Results: The findings showed that on average, 210 missions were accomplished each day by the emergency call center, with an average duration of about 53 minutes, for each mission. In addition, the average time for response time (the time between a call and dispatch of the ambulance) was less than 3 minutes, and the average time for arrival time (the time between request of ambulance and the arrival to the scene) was 8.1 minutes. Adequacy of current number of ambulances and staff is evaluated. Conclusion: Considering an average of 8.1 minutes for arrival time, we conclude that the EMS of Isfahan is within an acceptable range, compared to the international standards. In fact, it is shown that the infrastructures of EMS system including ambulance fleets, staff, and equipment are sufficient, and as an effective step for reducing the total time of the mission, the EMS has to operate seamlessly with the patient’s admission process in hospitals. Information such as workload hours, availability of resources and staff, etc. ought to be shared between the EMS and the hospital.

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the conformity of the set of good practices for preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in the emergency department of a university hospital. Method: A cross-sectional analytical study with a quantitative approach, conducted in a university hospital in the city of São Paulo. The study sample consisted of opportunities for care observations that comprise the set of good practices for preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia provided to intubated patients hospitalized in the emergency department. Results: A total of 209 observations were performed in 42 patients. Of the hospitalized patients, 23.8% developed VAP, and 52.4% died. Of the five recommended measures for preventing VAP, only two presented compliance above 50%. Conclusion: The care provided to patients is not in line with what is recommended in the literature, which demonstrates the need for periodic renewal of the team’s educational practices and the development of auditing projects to ensure improvements in the care process.

With an aim of characterizing the cysts of flagellated enteric protozoa present in groundwater of the town of Yaoundé, a descriptive and analytical study was carried out from February to July 2015 on the samples of 6 springs and 6 wells in 6 quarters of the city. The physico-chemical analysis proceeded at the same time on the field and at the laboratory. The observation of the cysts of the flagellated protozoa was done under the inverted microscope of mark Olympus CK2 to the objective 40X after concentration of the samples according to the method of sedimentation and the method of floating. The physicochemical analysis revealed slightly acid water (6, 04 ± 0, 49 U.C), average mineral-bearing (533, 70 ± 346, 18 µS/cm) and rich in suspended matter (14, 14 ± 11, 35 mg/L). The biological analyses revealed the presence of the cysts of the flagellated Protozoa with average densities of 162±115 cysts/L for Giardia intestinalis, 262 ± 280 cysts /L for Chilomastix mesnili, 89±101 cysts /L for Enteromonas hominis and 72 ± 80 cysts /L for Retortamonas intestinalis. In general, the greatest densities of cysts were recorded during the rainy season. The statistical tests revealed positive correlation between the cystic densities with MES, the color, turbidity and the organic matter (p < 0,05), and also negative correlation with nitrate (p < 0,05).This very high parasitological pollution makes water unfit for consumption. The use of untreated spring waters and wells could constitute a significant heath for the households living in the zone of study.
