In the last few years, bibliometric studies have proliferated, seeking to provide data on world research. This study analyzes the profile of the Brazilian scientific production in the A (H1N1) influenza field between 2009 and 2011. The research was conducted in MEDLINE, SciELO and LILACS databases, selecting papers in which the term "H1N1" and "Brazil" were defined as the main topics. The data were analyzed taking into consideration the Brazilian state and institution in which the articles were produced, the impact factor of the journal and the language. The research revealed 40 documents (27 from MEDLINE, 16 from SciELO and 24 from LILACS). The journal impact factor ranged from 0.0977 to 8.1230. A similar amount of articles were written in English and Portuguese and São Paulo was the most productive state in the country, with 95% of the Brazilian production originating from the Southern and Southeastern regions. Linguistic data indicate that previous efforts made in order to improve the scientific production of Brazilian researchers making their observations attain a broader scientific audience produced results. It is necessary to assess the scientific studies, especially those conducted with public funds, in order to ensure that the results will benefit society.

The objective of this study was to analyze the scientific production of the term Open Government in the Web of Science database from 2010 to 2016, using as search filter the titles of articles in all languages, considering the distribution of international intellectual productions. The research retrieved the most relevant journals in the area of applied social sciences, observing the impact of these journals to this area of knowledge. The research has a quantitative character, as it was analyzed the scientific production with online access of the Web of Science database covering a total of 3,165 documents. One of the main laws of bibliometrics was applied, Bradford's law for this analysis. If you used a spreadsheet tool for mining analysis, tabulation and data processing. The work reveals non-linearity in publications over the years recording a significant increase in production in an international context. It is concluded that the term Open Government has quality in scientific productions according to the core of the law of Bradford demonstrated in that study, however, the term is still gaining space in scientific publications nowadays in a society in transformation.

This article is motivated by the work as editor-in-chief of the Austrian Journal of Statistics and contains detailed analyses about the impact of the Austrian Journal of Statistics. The impact of a journal is typically expressed by journal metrics indicators. One of the important ones, the journal impact factor is calculated from the Web of Science (WoS) database by Clarivate Analytics. It is known that newly established journals or journals without membership in big publishers often face difficulties to be included, e.g., in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and thus they do not receive a WoS journal impact factor, as it is the case for example, for the Austrian Journal of Statistics. In this study, a novel approach is pursued modeling and predicting the WoS impact factor of journals using open access or partly open-access databases, like Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Scopus. I hypothesize a functional linear dependency between citation counts in these databases and the journal impact factor. These functional relationships enable the development of a model that may allow estimating the impact factor for new, small, and independent journals not listed in SCI. However, only good results could be achieved with robust linear regression and well-chosen models. In addition, this study demonstrates that the WoS impact factor of SCI listed journals can be successfully estimated without using the Web of Science database and therefore the dependency of researchers and institutions to this popular database can be minimized. These results suggest that the statistical model developed here can be well applied to predict the WoS impact factor using alternative open-access databases.

Abstract Objective: To describe the combustion process of sugarcane RAC with CO2 capture by manganese-based oxygen transporters during the period 2015-2021. Design: Bibliometric observational study. Location: Combustion of cutting waste with CO2 capture by manganese-based oxygen conveyors.Main measures: Magazine, year of publication, first/last author, workplace and autonomous community were obtained in each register. Subsequently, the articles were classified according to their content or research area. The impact factor was obtained from the bibliometric analysis base of Scopus and Vos viewer. Results: Through the search criteria used, 475 documents were recovered in the 2015-2021 semester, excluding 2637 because they did not correspond to affiliation to centers or institutions directly related to documents related to chemical combustion and CO2 capture. In total, 73 documents were selected, in which an increase and interest in the study of these processes was verified both in the research areas and in the journals in which they are published. Most of the studies have been published in universities or research centers and differences were observed in terms of the volume of international and national scientific production, so it is necessary to increase these investigations in the country of Colombia.

The work is a continuation of the study of the influence of the Russian history of psychology on the material of an array of publications indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index. The work implements methods of formal assessment of scientific performance. The internal factors of the development of the history of psychology as a branch of science are analyzed. By selecting and categorizing historical and psychological publications indexed in the RSCI, thematic directions in the history of psychology are distinguished. Their bibliometric and scientometric indicators are analyzed. Using a formal assessment of scientific performance and publication activity, the influence of certain thematic areas of the history of psychology on the development of the industry in general is investigated. The aggregated impact factor for the industry is calculated by year for the period from 2014 to 2019. A two-year impact factor is calculated for each of the thematic areas of the industry by years for the same period. The value of the impact factor for the year of each thematic area is compared with the value of the aggregated impact factor for the industry of the same year. A conclusion is made about the contribution of one direction or another to the upward and downward trends of the industry impact trend. The indicators of the impact of thematic areas are compared by year. The most productive years are distinguished among the calculated ones in relation to each of the selected thematic areas. Based on the indicators of productivity / relevance of thematic areas of the history of psychology, conclusions are drawn about their comparative elaboration. Reproducibility of historical and psychological knowledge in publications in non-psychological sources is considered. The formal value of the plateau of the indicator of the influence (impact) of the industry is fixed.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to show that the journal impact factor (IF) is not able to reflect the full impact of scholarly journals and provides an overview of alternative and complementary methods in journal evaluation. Design/methodology/approach – Aslib Proceedings (AP) is exemplarily analyzed with a set of indicators from five dimensions of journal evaluation, i.e. journal output, content, perception and usage, citations and management to accurately reflect its various strengths and weaknesses beyond the IF. Findings – AP has become more international in terms of authors and more diverse regarding its topics. Citation impact is generally low and, with the exception of a special issue on blogs, remains world average. However, an evaluation of downloads and Mendeley readers reveals that the journal is an important source of information for professionals and students and certain topics are frequently read but not cited. Research limitations/implications – The study is limited to one journal. Practical implications – An overview of various indicators and methods is provided that can be applied in the quantitative evaluation of scholarly journals (and also to articles, authors and institutions). Originality/value – After a publication history of more than 60 years, this analysis takes stock of AP, highlighting strengths and weaknesses and developments over time. The case study provides an example and overview of the possibilities of multidimensional journal evaluation.

Objective: To conduct a critical analysis of the two main bibliometric indexes used by science: the impact factor and the H index. Method: Research was conducted on PubMed using the keywords: impact factor, Bibliometrics and H index. Results: The citations of articles tend to follow a curve in which the articles published in a given year increase sharply to a peak occurring between two and six years after its publication. From this peak citations decline over time. Conclusion: The analysis of the scientific merit should not be based on only in bibliometric measure, but in the association of various parameters. The impact factor and the H index is mainly based on the number of citations of scientific papers, and this parameter, although important, should not be used alone, nor overvalued in the evaluation of teaching merit.
