Material and methods. Questionnaire survey for the estimation of the Quality of life was done in 796 students. 419 students of Arkhangelsk State Medical Institute were tested in 1979-1984, including 205 males and 214 females with an average age of 22.2; 203 students of higher educational institutions of Severodvinsk in 1998-2005 including 85 males and 118 females with average age of 18.7; 173 students of M.V. Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University (Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk) including 85 males and 88 females with average age of 19.5. Meaningfulness of differences in studied indices is calculated using Fisher’s exact test. Results. The decline in quality of life and lifestyle indices (dissatisfaction with living conditions, food quality, summer holidays) in 1998-2005 is shown in comparison to 1979-1984 period; in 2014-2015 they significantly increased. Nevertheless, no more than half of the respondents (45%-34%-53%) characterize their diet as adequate and regular. Increase in adherence to healthy lifestyle in modern students is noted: relatively large amount of them regularly takes exercises (10%-13%-39%), toughens up (8%-4%-9%), swim a lot in natural bodies of water (20%-15%-23%), never consume alcohol (12% -13% -35% of males 30%-5%-30% of females). However the proportion of smoking students has increased compared to the first stage of research (57%-70%-65% of males and 6%-75%-53% of females), and the proportion of those toughening themselves up regularly doesn’t exceed 9%. An increase in the number of students with no chronic diseases is shown. More students have complaints about precardialgia while complaints about gastrointestinal dysfunction and headaches became less frequent. Majority of the students are satisfied with their lives. Almost half of the respondents noted good mood as a predominant one.

BACKGROUND: The health-related quality of life construct (QoL) implies a relationship with eating habits (EA) and physical activity (PA). Sociodemographic and anthropometric variables (gender, age and Body Mass Index - BMI) are highlighted in the definition of healthy lifestyle habits promotion strategies. OBJECTIVE: We aim to characterize and relate PA, EA and QoL in children/youth and explore gender, age and BMI influences. METHODS: It is a non-experimental study, with 337 children/youth, ages between 8 and 17 years (12.61±2.96), mostly from the rural inland of Portugal. In data collection we used a sociodemographic and anthropometric questionnaire, a weekly register table of EA and Kid-Kindl (QoL). Statistical analysis (p <  0.05) were performed in SPSS-IBM 25. RESULTS: Lower BMI was associated with better EA (p <  0.001), PA (p <  0.05) and self-esteem (p <  0.01) and worse scores on family subscale of QoL. Female showed higher fruit intake (p <  0.05). The older has shown better results. PA is positively correlated with QoL (p <  0.01) and EA (p <  0.05). CONCLUSIONS: It is important to explore other relevant social and family dimensions, to promote intervention programs with parents, school and community, as well as healthy practices policies. The intervention in these age groups is critical for a longer-term impact in improving healthy life habits.

Treatment of spasticity with some considerations regarding sport Spasticity is a possible side effect in patients with a central nervous system pathology and it affects more than 12 million people worldwide. Spasticity can have an important impact on the quality of life and sporting activities. Spasticity only needs to be treated if there is spasticity associated pain and/or (expected) limited function. Primarily triggering factors of spasticity must be treated. A multidisciplinary approach containing a combination of medication and physical therapy is recommended in the treatment of spasticity. If this approach remains insufficient, interventional therapies can be taken into consideration, although they should always be combined with rehabilitation to reduce (the) spastic tone/spasticity. Sports and exercising should not be merely seen in the context of therapy and/or rehabilitation but also as a crucial aspect of a healthy lifestyle, in particular for people ‘at risk’ for inactivity. Therefore, it is important to fill the gap between rehabilitation and sustainable sports practice for the rehabilitator.

The quality of life within the organizational environment has not reflected positively on people with disabilities, because in addition to their common characteristics, they carry others that limit them to perform tasks that are simple for others. In this sense, the study aims to analyze the quality of life at work of people with disabilities in private school. The research has qualitative, descriptive and comparative character. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Three public educational institutions and one private educational institution participated in the research. The main findings were that in public educational institutions there were no people with disabilities, so they could not analyze their quality of life in these institutions. In the private institution there are people with disabilities, having this type of employee is the initiative of the organization and not only because there are laws that require them to have a percentage of this type of employee. This type of employee is treated like other employees, from the recruitment and selection stage to the performance evaluation. However, they suffer prejudice from students and employees of the educational institutions themselves. To reduce this, internal awareness actions are proposed.

Introduction: Dialysis affects the quality of life of hemodialysis patients due on idrasis in physical activities, psychological factors, and social adaptability.  Predominant indicator for assessing the adequacy of dialysis, considered the Kt / V (clearance time/volume of distribution). According to international guidelines, the price which shows adequate dialysis is > 1.2. Aim: The aim of the present study was the association of quality of life of hemodialysis patients with adequate dialysis. Material and Methods: To evaluate the quality of life of hemodialysis patients used the questionnaire KDQOL-SF weighted in the Greek language and the Greek egkyropoiimeno population. Excluded from the study patients with a speaking disability, those who were comatose, aliens, and those undergoing dialysis 3 hours/ 2 times / week. For data processing, used the statistical package SPSS ver.17. Results: Based on the statistical analysis t-test results showed respect to the route of vascular access that patients with graft (31,6%)   had a higher clearance rate adequacy, as well as patients undergoing hemodialysis with high permeability (high-flux) filters (35,8%) and those undergoing dialysis with hemodiafiltration (35,8%).According to the statistical criterion pearson's r and multivariate analysis of linear regression, statistically significant difference was only between Kt / V and forefinger encouraging staff and p = 0,032 and p = 0,015 respectively. Conclusions: The conclusions drawn from this study showed that there was no correlation between quality of life and dialysis adequacy, but only with the index of encouraging staff.

Introduction: Demonstration of the access cavity preparation procedures to dental students is challenging due to the limited operating field and detailed nature of the procedures. It is especially difficult to visualize how instruments are functioning inside the pulp space. The aim of this study was to develop and compare two different views of video demonstration in teaching access cavity preparation. Materials and Methods: Two videos of access cavity preparation were filmed, showing occlusal view of a whole tooth (WT) and sagittal view of a sectioned tooth (ST). Using quasirandomization, third year dental students (n=57) were divided into two groups to watch either one of the videos. The perception and performance of both groups were compared using Mann-Whitney U test and Fisher exact test. Results: At baseline, group WT (n=29) and group ST (n=28) were not significantly different in terms of operative scores (p=0.330). After watching the videos, the basic understanding of the theories were similar between both groups. However, ST responded more positively towards the helpfulness of the video in visualizing the inner anatomy of the tooth and in implementing the procedures (p<0.05). ST also completed the exercise within a shorter time (p<0.001). Nevertheless, the quality of the prepared access cavities was not significantly different between groups. Conclusion(s): Using sagittal view of sectioned tooth in video demonstration of access cavity preparation can improve students learning and performance speed. We highly recommend showing the sagittal view of sectioned tooth in video demonstration of access cavity preparation.
