This study explored the relationship between non-organic factors and perceived disability for work-injured Hispanic and White workers in Northern New Mexico. The results showed that Hispanic males perceived themselves to be significantly more disabled than White males and than Hispanic females. Also, less educated workers perceived themselves as significantly more disabled than those with more education, regardless of ethnicity. These findings indicate that the rehabilitation process of injured Hispanic workers is a complex one in which various systems interact including the injured worker, the family, the employer, the health care provider, the insurance company, the attorney, and the workers' compensation adjuster.
