Infantile hemangioma is one of the common benign vascular tumors found in infants. This tumor can undergo reverse development after the initial proliferation, so many doctors consider pharmacotherapy in this case impractical. It should be noted that some hemangiomas are accompanied by functional disorders, scars and painful on palpation. Therefore, it is important for the Clinician to understand the etiopathogenetic factors contributing to the development of tumors, morphological features, stages of development of this pathology when choosing methods and means of pharmacotherapy. This paper describes a clinical case of infantile hemangioma in a three-month-old child in the suborbital and posterior regions. Despite its benign nature, hemangiomas had features of a clinically malignant course. Despite the possibility of self-healing and stopping the growth of hemangioma with subsequent involution, its further course still remains unpredictable, which justifies the need for dispensary observation of the patient.

Ameloblastic fibroma is an uncommon mixed neoplasm of odontogenic origin with a relative frequency between 1.5 – 4.5%. It can occur either in the mandible or maxilla, but predominantly seen in the posterior region of the mandible. It occurs in the first two decades of life. Most of the times it is associated with tooth enclosure, causing a delay in eruption or altering the dental eruption sequence. The common clinical manifestation is a slow growing painless swelling and is detected during routine radiographic examination. There is controversy in the mode of treatment, whether conservative or aggressive. Here we reported a 38 year old male patient referred for evaluation of painless swelling on the right posterior region of the mandible associated with clinically missing 3rd molar. The lesion was completely enucleated under general anesthesia along with the extraction of impacted molar.

The results of study of the 12 year cycle of studies on the only in Russia collection of hops ordinary (Humulus lupulus L.), which contains 250 samples from different regions of Russia and 17 foreign countries. The number of process varieties, composition and origin, it is unique and corresponds to world level. A collection of accessions of hops is a population of female plants with a set of phenological, morphological and economic importance of signs. In the article, the estimation of the collectible varieties of hops at different ripeness groups according to phenological and morphological characteristics according to the method of test for distinctness, uniformity and stability. As the result of the research the Common Hop (Humuluslupulus) sorts were classified in accordance with their maturity time as early maturity (less than 100 days) – 10%, middle-early (101…110 days) – 14, middle duration (111…120 days) – 40, middle-late (121…130 days) – 10% and slow-maturing (more than 130 days) – 26%. Each group has a phenotypic and morphologies features. The early maturity, middle-early and middle duration varieties with vegetative season approximately 120 days are more adaptive to the conditions of the Chuvashia and central part of the Russia and provide obtaining high yield of the hop cones.

Infantile hemangiomas are common benign vascular tumors but are rarely found in an intracranial location. Our literature review identified 41 reported cases. There is no general consensus on management of these rare lesions and until recently, treatment was limited to surgery or pharmacological management with steroids or interferon. Although beta-blockers have been widely prescribed in the treatment of cutaneous infantile hemangiomas since 2008, their use in the treatment of intracranial infantile hemangiomas has been minimal. We present a case of infantile hemangioma affecting the right orbit, associated with intracranial extension, causing intermittent right facial nerve palsy. The patient achieved an excellent outcome following combined treatment with oral propranolol and topical timolol maleate 0.5%, with complete regression of the lesion by 4 months. We conclude that beta-blockers are a safe and effective treatment of intracranial infantile hemangiomas and can be employed as first-line management of these lesions.

In this paper, three bio-mineralization mechanisms were proposed to repair cement-based materials cracks. The common feature is that the three are all induced by bacterial. A type of bacterial which can decompose urea and release carbonate ions could be applied to repair micro cracks on concrete surface when combining calcium ions. But what need to be noted is that the way of repairing cracks is passive. Some alkaliphilic bacterial spores could be added to concrete when casted and two different types of bacterial were used to realize the function of self-healing. The sources of carbonate ions made them different, the one release carbonate dioxide through its own cellular respiration, the other could transfer carbon dioxide in air to bicarbonate. Coefficient of capillary suction, apparent water permeation coefficient and area repairing rate were applied to characterize the repairing effectiveness. The tests results were that all three bio-mineralization mechanisms showed excellent repair effect to small cracks formed at early ages. When the bacteria were immobilized by ceramsite, the self-healing effect could be improved for the cracks formed at late ages.

Acinar cell cystadenoma is one of the rarest benign pancreatic tumors. A clinical case of acinar cell cystadenoma of the pancreatic head in a 67-year-old patient is presented. The tumor was detected during a routine examination. The patient was undergoing surgery, enucleation of the neoplasm was performed. With a planned histologic examination and immunohistochemical analysis the diagnosis was confirmed. Surgical tactics depend on the location, size of the tumor and position to the adjacent structures. Given the benign nature of tumor, preference should be given to organpreserving interventions.

Immediate loading of full-arch prostheses on dental implants in the upper arch is challenging, as the bone is of low quality and obtaining sufficient torque may be difficult. The purpose of this case report is to describe the rehabilitation of a full-arch by means of placement of four internal tapered connection tilted implants and immediate loading. A 65-year-old man sought dental care with a partially edentulous upper arch. The teeth presented mobility and were extracted. In a second step, two conventional-length implants were placed in the anterior region and two tilted and nasal wall–directed extra-long implants in the posterior region. The insertion torques of 60 N.cm allowed the installation of an immediate prosthesis (hybrid). The clinical case report suggests that the placement of tilted and extra-long implants in the paranasal bone and immediate loading may be a viable option for rehabilitation of the edentulous upper arch.

1. In the male Philaenus and Agrion the vasa deferentia terminate on the ninth segment in the early stages. An ectodermal invagination from that segment joins them subsequently and thus the male gonopore is established. 2. The accessory glands develop in Philaenus male from the anterior end of the swollen extremities of the vasa deferentia and the vesiculae seminales from a still more forward region. 3. The accessory glands of the male are mesodermal in origin and not ectodermal as some authors state. 4. There is no evidence as to the existence of a ‘pair of ectodermal ejaculatory’ ducts either in Philaenus orin Agrion, and reasons are adduced to show that they do not exist at all in the higher Insecta. 5. In the female nymph of Philaenus the oviducts terminate on the seventh segment. They are subsequently joined by an ectodermal invagination from the seventh segment. The common oviduct is formed in two parts: the anterior part is derived from the posterior region of the invagination on the seventh and the posterior region is formed as a groove from the ectodermis of the eighth segment and subsequently this groove is converted into a tube. When the second part is completed it is in connexion with the invagination from the seventh and opens to the outside on the eighth segment. The ectodermal invagination from the seventh also gives rise to the spermatheca. A median accessory gland develops as an invagination from the ninth segment between the bases of the inner ovipositor lobes. A pair of accessory glands develop as paired imaginations from the anterior region of the ninth segment. 6. In the female nymph of Agrion the oviducts fuse to form a single duct and terminate in the middle of the eighth segment. Posteriorly an ectodermal invagination from the eighth segment meets this duct and lies in a position dorsal to it. Later on the ectodermal invagination develops a spermatheca dorsally and the mesodermal and the ectodermal ducts unite into one. The accessory glands develop as paired ectodermal invaginations from the anterior region of the ninth segment. 7. The female gonopore is not homologous in the different groups of insects. The vaginal opening in Orthoptera, Hymenoptera, Homoptera, Diptera, and Lepidoptera is homologous. The vaginal opening in Coleoptera is homologous with the oviducal opening of Lepidoptera, with the opening of the accessory gland of Homoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera, Isoptera, and the opening of the spermatheca in some Orthoptera. 8. The common oviduct, being formed differently in the different groups is not homologous. The accessory organs, e. g. spermatheca, are not homologous in the different groups. 9. There is no evidence to show that the common oviduct is of paired origin. 10. The occurrence of a median accessory structure on the ninth segment which develops in the young as an invagination between the bases of the inner ovipositor lobes is very general in the higher Insecta. In some it functions as a gland, in others as a storehouse for spermatozoa. 11. The homology of the paired accessory glands is indicated. 12. The male genital ducts are not strictly homologous with those of the female. The homologue of the ejaculatory duct is the invagination from the ninth segment in the female. 13. The Odonata stand isolated in having a mesodermal region for the common oviduct and in the peculiar development of the two processes between the anterior ovipositor lobes. 14. The probable lines of evolution of the female efferent system in Insecta are indicated. The study of the development of the female efferent system indicates that the groups Orthoptera, Homoptera, Lepidoptera, and Diptera are very closely allied. Coleoptera seem to have had quite a different line of evolution from the above groups in this respect. 15. The adult Odonatan anatomy of the genital organs in the female as observed by me is in some respects different from that described by Tillyard. Abstract: Use of 3D planning and 3D printing is expanding in healthcare. One of the common applications is the creation of anatomical models for the surgical procedure from DICOM files. These patient-specific models are used for multiple purposes, including visualization of complex anatomical situations, simulation of surgical procedures, patient education and facilitating communication between the different disciplines during clinical case discussions. Cardiac and thoracic surgical applications of this technology development include the use of patient-specific 3D models for exploration of ventricle and aorta function and surgical procedural planning in oncology. The 3D virtual and printed models provide a new visualization perspective for the surgeons and more efficient communication between the different clinical disciplines. The 3D project was started at the Semmelweis University with the cooperation of the Thoracic Surgery Department of the National Institute of Oncology in 2018. Synthetic oligomers and polymers inspired by the multifunctional tethering system (byssus) of the common mussel (genus Mytilus) have emerged since the 1980s as a very active research domain within the wider bioinspired and biomimetic materials arena. The unique combination of strong underwater adhesion, robust mechanical properties and self-healing capacity has been linked to a large extent to the presence of the unusual α-amino acid derivative l-DOPA (l-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine) as a building block of the mussel byssus proteins. This paper provides a short overview of marine biofouling, discussing the different marine biofouling species and natural defenses against these, as well as biomimicry as a concept investigated in the marine antifouling context. A detailed discussion of the literature on the Mytilus mussel family follows, covering elements of their biology, biochemistry and the specific measures adopted by these mussels to utilise their l-DOPA-rich protein sequences (and specifically the ortho-bisphenol (catechol) moiety) in their benefit. A comprehensive account is then given of the key catechol chemistries (covalent and non-covalent/intermolecular) relevant to adhesion, cohesion and self-healing, as well as of some of the most characteristic mussel protein synthetic mimics reported over the past 30 years and the related polymer functionalisation strategies with l-DOPA/catechol. Lastly, we review some of the most recent advances in such mussel-inspired synthetic oligomers and polymers, claimed as specifically aimed or intended for use in marine antifouling coatings and/or tested against marine biofouling species.
