Since the first offering of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in 2008, the body of literature on this new phenomenon of open learning has grown tremendously. In this regard, this article intends to identify and map patterns in research on MOOCs by reviewing 362 empirical articles published in peer-reviewed journals from 2008 to 2015. For the purposes of this study, a text-mining tool was used to analyse the content of the published research journal articles and to reveal the major themes and concepts covered in the publications. The findings reveal that the MOOC literature generally focuses on four lines of research: (a) the potential and challenges of MOOCs for universities; (b) MOOC platforms; (c) learners and content in MOOCs; and (d) the quality of MOOCs and instructional design issues. Prospective researchers may use these results to gain an overview of this emerging field, as well as to explore potential research directions.

Melatonin is an endogenous substance easily found in the body. It is conceptualized as a hormone, derived from serotonin, synthesized by the pineal gland during the night period. As a hormone, melatonin has several functions, such as immunomodulation, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor, however its most compliant function is the control of the circadian rhythm, in addition to regularizing seasonality. Sleep is one of the primordial needs of the human being, after a period of physical and mental activities, it has a fundamental role to relax and re-establish the organism for a new cycle of activities. Thus, melatonin acts as a metabolism regulator influencing the quality of life, and its effectiveness in inducing sleep has led pharmaceutical companies to launch its synthetic version, widely sold as a supplement in some countries such as the United States and Europe. To analyze the importance of melatonin in the regulation of sleep, as well as to characterize its functions in the body that contribute to weight control. The work methodology consisted of a literature review, carried out through previously published research studies. Based on the literary subsidies that supported this research, it is concluded that the benefits achieved with the use of melatonin encompass the alignment of the sleep cycle and contribute to weight control, which may influence weight loss, as well as in other areas of the body.

MOOCs (massive open online course) is a disruptive innovation and a current buzzword in higher education. However, the discussion of MOOCs is disparate, fragmented, and distributed among different outlets. Systematic, extensively published research on MOOCs is unavailable. This paper adopts a novel method called blog mining to analyze MOOCs. The findings indicate, while MOOCs have benefitted learners, providers, and faculty who develop and teach MOOCs, challenges still exist, such as questionable course quality, high dropout rate, unavailable course credits, ineffective assessments, complex copyright, and limited hardware. Future research should explore the position of MOOCs and how it can be sustained.

In 2014, the Ministry of Education initiated Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) pilot project at public universities in Malaysia. Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) was selected among three public universities to develop the university’s own MOOC. This pilot project is one of the initiatives by the Malaysian government to support the ninth shift of Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015 – 2025 (Higher Education): Globalized Online Learning, which is introduced to achieve the desired outcomes set by the National e-Learning Policy (Dasar e-Pembelajaran Negara or DePAN). All MOOCs are now available on the Open Learning platform and offered throughout the year. It is a huge task indeed to manage and monitor simultaneous MOOC development in all UiTM faculties and state campuses. Thus, a tracking system to monitor the progress of MOOC development by lecturers called the M-Track System was designed. This paper explains how the system was developed and implemented. The system facilitates e-learning administrators to monitor the quality of MOOC at all 26 faculties and 12 UiTM campuses throughout Malaysia before there were offered to the public. The system can generate several types of report and this ensures the duration of MOOC development is adhered to. The target users of the system are the MOOC developers, MOOC Coordinators, MOOC Managers at the institution and anyone who wishes to develop MOOC. Keywords: MOOC tracking, MOOC development, MOOC monitoring, MOOC reporting

Abstract

Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Gamification and the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is a new phenomenon in open learning and is known as a good strategy to improve the quality of education. However, the MOOC has two main disadvantages: first, lack of understanding to know personal goals; and second, the completion rate is low compared to the number of registrations to MOOCs. To be able to overcome these two weaknesses, researchers will propose the use of Gamification. In this paper various studies relating to Gamification and MOOC will be described. The methodology of this research uses a qualitative approach with emphasis on data analysis. The result is that the MOOC does not require a full level of completion like a traditional course which is usually considered a success. In addition, gamification can increase the effectiveness of the MOOC to be able to overcome the main problems in its application through the use of important elements in gamification

BackgroundThe data held by amber presents an opportunity to understand the structure of the published paramedic literature, specifically the output of NHS staff working in English ambulance services 2011–2019. This period is of interest because it represents part of the development phase of paramedic research in England. The authors apply a series of bibliometric measures to generate a profile of the published literature.MethodThe metadata was downloaded from amber for the period from 2011–2019. The metadata was used to create a series of tables that describe the contents of amber. The data was augmented by Altmetric Scores and Citation Counts (SCOPUS) to provide a measure of the quality of the articles contained in amber.ResultsThe data shows a characteristic long tail with 1) Few very high scoring articles (Altmetric and Citation) and many lower scoring articles, 2) A few journals titles publish the majority of articles in paramedicine with many publishing just 1–3 articles. Altmetric scores do not predict citation counts for this data. Only six of the articles that appear in the top 20 journal articles by Altmetric score also appear in the top 20 journal articles by citation count table. Nearly 50% of article achieve an Altmetric score, only 20% of the research is cited one or more times. 68% of articles are written by more than one author including all the articles included in the top 20 article tables. Only 10 of the top 20 cited articles are published in core emergency medicine journals in this instance Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine Journal.ConclusionsBroadly, the data describes the body of research in paramedicine growing overtime in volume and quality.

This study aims at identifying the pronouns used in journal articles in terms of numbers and familiarity. The data taken from three different journals from three various fields, i.e., Education, Medics and Engineering. It consists of 21 articles taken from the current issue 2018, where this study started. It is selected conveniently due to its unique and fame as a discipline and reputable sources. In collecting the data, the researcher accessed the journals published by science direct (Q1 Scopus indexed). The analysis showed that the writer in these three international journals commonly used several pronouns interchangeably. However, some articles in journal from Medical and Engineering consistently used only one chosen pronoun, which was recorded found at different sections in the journal article. The data then coded and transcribed to ease the analysis in this researcher. As a result of the study, it was found out that the data showed 19 kinds of pronouns in total were used in these three different fields. These results showed us that the pronoun usage in a scientific article from these three various fields varies with options of different pronouns. The pronoun seems used to help the impact of imposition and showing politeness or quality of the articles.

The main focus of this research is on the self-concept and pedagogical competence of the teacher and its influence on the quality of the learning process both partially and double. The research method used is a survey method in which the authors go directly to the empirical level by distributing questionnaires to 47 teachers. The processing and analysis techniques used are linear and multiple regression. The results of the study show that: (1) There is a positive and significant influence of the teacher's self-concept on the quality of the learning process (2) There is a positive and significant influence on the teacher's pedagogical competence on the quality of the learning process. (3) There is a positive and significant effect of self-concept and pedagogical competence of teachers together on the quality of the learning process. Therefore, the authors suggest: (1) So that the teacher improves health and appearance because the results of the study show that the weakness of the teacher's self-concept is in the appearance and significance of the body. So that the teacher needs to be given enlightenment related to how to maintain health and fitness through the implementation of joint gymnastics or conducting group discussions related to the dirt to maintain a prime body. (2) To face future competition and improve the quality of education it is deemed necessary to further increase the pedagogical competence of teachers, especially those related to planning and evaluation of learning.

«Man is what he eats,» these words belong to the great Pythagoras. He meant by these words the connection of the origin of consumed food with the spiritual development of man. In fact, a lot depends on the nature of nutrition, the quality of food and, of course, on the degree of its perception by the body. Digestion process begins not in the stomach, but directly in the oral cavity as a result of mechanical processing of products with teeth and under the influence of the secretion of the salivary glands. That is why healthy teeth are the key to the normal functioning of the whole organism — people should start taking care of their teeth from the early childhood and dentists, who are far from being beloved by everybody and are often carelessly evaded, are called upon to help keep the teeth healthy.
