PM10 merupakan salah satu aerosol yang merupakan bagian dari partikel pencemar. Keberadaannya menempati  volume ruang di atmosfer dengan konsentrasi yang selalu tergabung dengan materi lainnya dan dipengaruhi oleh kondisi atmosfer setempat. Pengukuran PM10 pada periode waktu siang dan malam dengan menggunakan EPAM5000 dan BAM1020 telah dilakukan untuk mengetahui specifikasi alat terhadap hasil pengukuran pada responnya terhadap unsur cuaca (kelembaban). Data hasil pengukuran dan analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pada hasil ukur konsentrasi PM10 pada periode malam pada EPAM5000 dan BAM1020 yang disebabkan oleh perbedaan pendukung instrument pada aliran udara masuk.  Adanya smart heather pada BAM1020 berfungsi untuk mengontrol kadar uap air dari aliran udara yang dihisap sedangan pada EPAM5000 udara yang dihisap langsung diukur kosentrasinya sehingga hasil ukur konsentrasi PM10 pada EPAM5000 lebih tinggi karena masih mengandung banyak uap air (aerosol hidroskopis). Adanya menu Manual Zero atau Auto Zero pada EPAM5000 untuk membersihkan optic sensor dan mereset menjadi 0 mg/m3. Pada periode malam, partikulat PM10 akan bergabung dengan uap air menyebabkan konsentrsi yang terukur pada EPAM5000 tinggi. Hal ini diperkuat oleh hasil korelasi menunjukkan bahwa nilai PM10 berkorelasi kuat terhadap kelembaban data pengukuran EPAM5000. Untuk ini perlu adanya metode untuk memisahkan PM10 dan materi lainnya (uap air) agar didapatkan nilai konsentarsi yang sebenarnya untuk menentukan kebijakan terkait kondisi udara yang terjadi.ABSTRACTPM10 is one of the aerosols which is part of polluting particles. Its existence occupies a volume of space in the atmosphere with a concentration that is always combined with other materials and is influenced by local atmospheric conditions. Measurement of PM10 in the time period of day and night using EPAM5000 and BAM1020 has been carried out to determine the specifications of the instrument on the measurement results in response to weather elements (humidity). Measurement data and correlation analysis indicate that there are differences in the results of measuring PM10 concentrations in the night period on EPAM5000 and BAM1020 due to differences in instrument support in the intake air flow. The presence of a smart heather on the BAM1020 functions to control the water vapor content of the sucked air stream, while on the EPAM5000 the air that is sucked is directly measured so that the concentration of PM10 on EPAM5000 is higher because it still contains a lot of water vapor (hydroscopic aerosol). There is a Manual Zero or Auto Zero menu on the EPAM5000 to clean the optical sensor and reset it to 0 mg/m3. During the night period, PM10 particulates will combine with water vapor causing concentrations measured at high EPAM5000. This is confirmed by the correlation results showing that the PM10 value has a strong correlation to the humidity of the EPAM5000 measurement data. For this, it is necessary to have a method for separating PM10 and other materials (water vapor) in order to obtain the actual concentration value to determine policies related to air conditions that occur.

As part of the New Hampshire Birth Cohort Study, children 3 to 5 years of age participated in a personal PM2.5 exposure study. This paper characterizes the personal PM2.5 exposure and protocol compliance measured with a wearable sensor. The MicroPEM™ collected personal continuous and integrated measures of PM2.5 exposure and compliance data on 272 children. PM2.5, black carbon (BC), and brown carbon tobacco smoke (BrC-ETS) exposure was measured from the filters. We performed a multivariate analysis of woodstove presence and other factors that influenced PM2.5, BC, and BrC exposures. We collected valid exposure data from 258 of the 272 participants (95%). Children wore the MicroPEM for an average of 46% of the 72-h period, and over 80% for a 2-day, 1-night period (with sleep hours counted as non-compliance for this study). Elevated PM2.5 exposures occurred in the morning, evening, and overnight. Median PM2.5, BC, and BrC-ETS concentrations were 8.1 μg/m3, 3.6 μg/m3, and 2.4 μg/m3. The combined BC and BrC-ETS mass comprised 72% of the PM2.5. Woodstove presence, hours used per day, and the primary heating source were associated with the children’s PM2.5 exposure and air filters were associated with reduced PM2.5 concentrations. Our findings suggest that woodstove smoke contributed significantly to this cohort’s PM2.5 exposure. The high sample validity and compliance rate demonstrated that the MicroPEM can be worn by young children in epidemiologic studies to measure their PM2.5 exposure, inform interventions to reduce the exposures, and improve children’s health.

Melatonin is an endogenous substance easily found in the body. It is conceptualized as a hormone, derived from serotonin, synthesized by the pineal gland during the night period. As a hormone, melatonin has several functions, such as immunomodulation, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor, however its most compliant function is the control of the circadian rhythm, in addition to regularizing seasonality. Sleep is one of the primordial needs of the human being, after a period of physical and mental activities, it has a fundamental role to relax and re-establish the organism for a new cycle of activities. Thus, melatonin acts as a metabolism regulator influencing the quality of life, and its effectiveness in inducing sleep has led pharmaceutical companies to launch its synthetic version, widely sold as a supplement in some countries such as the United States and Europe. To analyze the importance of melatonin in the regulation of sleep, as well as to characterize its functions in the body that contribute to weight control. The work methodology consisted of a literature review, carried out through previously published research studies. Based on the literary subsidies that supported this research, it is concluded that the benefits achieved with the use of melatonin encompass the alignment of the sleep cycle and contribute to weight control, which may influence weight loss, as well as in other areas of the body.

Powerline detection is becoming a significant issue for powerline monitoring and maintenance, which further ensures transmission security. As an efficient method, laser scanning has attracted considerable attention in powerline detection for its high precision and robustness during the night period. However, due to occlusion and varying point density, gaps will appear in scans and greatly influence powerline detection by over–clustering, insufficient extraction, or misclassification in existing methods. Moreover, this situation will be worse in terrestrial laser scanning (TLS), because TLS suffers more from gaps due to its unique ground–based scanning mode compared to other laser scanning systems. Thereby, this paper explores a robust method to repair gaps for extracting powerlines from TLS data. Firstly, a hierarchical clustering method is used to extract the powerlines. During the clustering, gaps are repaired based on neighborhood relations of powerline candidates, and repaired gaps can create continuous neighborhood relations that ensure the execution of the clustering method in return. Test results show that the hierarchical clustering method is robust in powerline extraction with repaired gaps. Secondly, reconstruction is performed for further detection. Pylon–powerline connections are found by the slope change method, and powerlines with multi–span are successfully fitted using these connections. Experiment shows that it is feasible to find connections for multi–span reconstruction.

Introduction Bedtime routines are one of the most common family activities. They affect children’ wellbeing, development and health. Despite their importance, there is limited evidence and agreement on what constitutes an optimal bedtime routine. This study aims to reach expert consensus on a definition of optimal bedtime routines and to propose a measurement for bedtime routines. Method Four-step DELPHI process completed between February and March 2020 with 59 experts from different scientific, health and social care backgrounds. The DELPHI process started with an expert discussion group and then continued with 3 formal DELPHI rounds during which different elements of the definition and measurement of bedtime routines were iteratively refined. The proposed measurement of bedtime routines was then validated against existing data following the end of the DELPHI process. Results At the end of the four round DELPHI process and with a consistent 70% agreement level, a holistic definition of bedtime routines for families with young children between the ages of 2 and 8 years was achieved. Additionally, two approaches for measuring bedtime routines, one static (one-off) and one dynamic (over a 7-night period) are proposed following the end of the DELPHI process. A Bland-Altman difference plot was also calculated and visually examined showing agreement between the measurements that could allow them to be used interchangeably. Discussion Both the definition and the proposed measurements of bedtime routines are an important, initial step towards capturing a behavioural determinant of important health and developmental outcomes in children.

Organic carbon fixed by photosynthesis of phytoplankton during the polar growing period could be important for their survival and consumers during the long polar night. Differences in biochemical traits of phytoplankton between ice-free and polar night periods were investigated in biweekly water samples obtained at the Korean “Jang Bogo Station” located in Terra Nova Bay, Antarctica. The average concentration of total Chl-a from phytoplankton dominated by micro-sized species from the entire sampling period was 0.32 μg L–1 (SD = ± 0.88 μg L–1), with the highest concentration of 4.29 μg L–1 in February and the lowest concentration of 0.01 μg L–1 during the ice-covered polar night (April–October) in 2015. The highest protein concentration coincided with the peak Chl-a concentration in February and decreased rapidly relative to the carbohydrate and lipid concentrations in the early part of polar night. Among the different biochemical components, carbohydrates were the predominant constituent, accounting for 69% (SD = ± 14%) of the total particulate organic matter (POM) during the entire study period. The carbohydrate contributions to the total POM markedly increased from 39 ± 8% during the ice-free period to 73 ± 9% during the polar night period. In comparison, while we found a significant negative correlation (r2 = 0.92, p < 0.01) between protein contributions and carbohydrate contributions, lipid contributions did not show any particular trend with relatively small temporal variations during the entire observation period. The substantial decrease in the average weight ratio of proteins to carbohydrates from the ice-free period (mean ± SD = 1.0 ± 0.3) to the ice-covered period (mean ± SD = 0.1 ± 0.1) indicates a preferential loss of nitrogen-based proteins compared to carbohydrates during the polar night period. Overall, the average food material (FM) concentration and calorific contents of FM in this study were within the range reported previously from the Southern Ocean. The results from this study may serve as important background data for long-term monitoring of the regional and interannual variations in the physiological state and biochemical compositions of phytoplankton resulting from future climate change in Antarctica.

The presented work is the result of affirmation of synergistic work of experts dealing with architectural and acoustic design with the aim and purpose of finding an adequate solution for optimal correction of the effect of GHG systems installed on the facade of the subject (case study) office building in Belgrade. Measurements established that the noise of the constructed GHG systems affected the residential building in the immediate vicinity. The effect of the constructed devices (refers to the installed units) of the office building in question in the case when they operate at full capacity was measuring to be about 58 dB (A). The urban zone in which the building is located (Vracar-Belgrade) belongs to the category of "office residential area" in which the outdoor noise level permitted for the period of day is 60 dB (A), and for the night period is 50 dB (A). Taking into account the stated facts, it has been unequivocally established that GHG systems to a certain extent exceed the permitted noise levels and "endanger" the neighboring observed building. The subject of this professional scientific research is the design of atypical facade architectural elements as a barrier reducing noise on the example of an office building in Belgrade. The architectural challenge was reflected in the fact that, in addition to designing the facade element which, at the request of the investor must not compromise the architecture of the building, therefore, should be "atypical in architectural design", it must also provide flexibility in applying different variants of acoustic barriers, which in addition to architectonic requirement must provide an adequate response to acoustic requirements. To the satisfaction of the authors, the designed barrier confirmed a successful synergy solution. The adopted architectural-acoustic configuration of the barrier proved to be effective regardless of the type of installed air conditioners, which in some way justifies the initial idea of strong causality of acoustic and architectural design, as a synergistic principle.

Abstract Introduction Patients submitted to arterial vascular surgeries are at a high risk of postoperative cardiac and non-cardiac complications, therefore developing strategies to lower perioperative complications is essential to optimize outcomes for this subgroup. Recent studies have suggested that the period of the day in which surgeries are performed may influence postoperative major cardiovascular complications but there is still no evidence of this association in vascular surgeries. Purpose Our goal is to evaluate whether the period of the day in which surgeries are performed may influence mortality and cardiovascular outcomes in patients undergoing non-cardiac vascular procedures. Methods Patients who underwent non-cardiac vascular surgeries between 2012 and 2018 were prospectively included at our cohort. For this analysis, subjects were categorized into two groups: those who underwent surgery in the morning (7am - 12am) and those who underwent surgery in the afternoon/night (12:01pm - 6:59am). The primary endpoints were to compare the incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE - acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, arrhythmias, and cardiovascular death) and total mortality between morning and afternoon/night surgeries within 30 days and one year. The secondary endpoint was the incidence of perioperative myocardial injury (PMI) in both groups. PMI was defined as an absolute elevation of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) concentrations ≥14ng/L. Multivariable analysis using Cox proportional regression (with Hazard Ratio – HR and Confidence Interval – 95% CI) was performed to adjust for confounding variables, including emergency and urgent surgeries. Results Of 1267 patients included, 1002 (79.1%) underwent vascular surgery in the morning and 265 (20.9%) in the afternoon/night. After adjusting for confounding variables, the incidence of MACE at 30 days was higher among those who underwent surgery in the afternoon/night period (37.4% vs 20.4% – HR 1.43, 95% CI: 1.10–1.85; p=0.008). Mortality rates were also elevated in the afternoon/night group (21.5% vs 9.9%, HR 1.59, 95% CI: 1.10–2.29; p=0.013). After one-year of follow-up the worst outcomes persisted in patients operated in the afternoon/night: higher incidence of MACE (37.7% vs 21.2%, HR 1.37, 95% CI: 1.06–1.78; p=0.017) and mortality (35.8% vs 17.6%, HR 1.72, 95% CI 1.31–2.27; p<0.001). There was no significant difference in the incidence of PMI between groups (p=0.8). Conclusions In this group of patients, being operated in the afternoon/night period was independently associated with increased mortality rates and incidence of MACE. Inactivity is a common daytime behavior expressed by wild cats in zoos. It is not clear whether this inactivity is due to the constraints of the captive environment or is a result of a more natural behavior by these animals. Therefore, this work evaluated the behavior of two Panthera oncacaptive specimens, including their inactivity, during the evening/night period. The jaguars were filmed individually in different days, starting at 5:30 pm and finishing between 7:00 pm and 1:30 am, including non-feeding and feeding days. Regardless of whether they were fed or not, both jaguars expressed a significant rate of inactivity. In addition, when fed, one of the jaguars increased its movements and active behaviors, although its inactivity remained high, while the other jaguar further reduced the expression of such behaviors. Therefore, this work concludes that these jaguars were just as inactive during the evening/night period as they were during daytime. Excessive inactivity might be regarded as a negative behavior; with its highest expression being an effect of the captive environment, which might compromise the welfare of the assessed jaguars and possibly of other wild cats. In addition, since the behavioral expression varied between the studied jaguars, depending on the feeding or non-feeding status, we recommend that futures studies should taking into account the individual variations, especially when there are differences in age, health, and management conditions between the specimens.

Research on fish biodiversit yof seagrass bed has been carried out in Indonesian waters, and the results vary between water locations.  This study aims to determine the biodiversity of fish based on seagrass density in the day and night period. This research was conducted in the waters of Tanjung Tiram, South Konawe from February to March 2018. Fish sampling based on seagrass density in the day and night period using gillnets with mesh size of 0.75, 1.25 and 1.50 inch.  Fish biodiversity found in this study consisted of 42 species from 24 families with an abundance of 1000 individuals. Fish biodiversity in densely seagrass beds was higher than low seagrass beds.Labridae family was the most doimnan fish during the daytime while at night is dominated by the family Plotosidae. The status of  fish biodiversity based on seagrass density was categorized as moderate to high and stable diversity while based on the day-night period was classified as moderate diversity with unstable to stable conditions, and the level of dominance of both was low.
