This study aimed to create a measurement tool for the determination of university students’ health beliefs about testicular cancer (TC) and self-examination. This is a methodological and cross-sectional study. The study sample included 425 university students. Consents and approvals were obtained from the relevant institutions and the ethics committee prior to the research. The data were collected using an interview form that included questions about descriptive characteristics, family history of TC, and knowledge, beliefs, and practice of self-examination. The health belief model including 41 questions about self-examination and the interview form were administered to the students in their classrooms at a suitable time. Principal components analysis and varimax rotation were used for the examination of the structures of the factors. Accordingly, factor patterns, self-values, and the variance percentages they explained were evaluated. The average age of the participants is 22.2 ± 2.3 (min = 17; max = 40). Of them, 98.8% of the participants are single ( n = 420). Of them, 56.2% have heard about TC before, and 18.4% said they were informed about TC. Factor loading of the items in the first factor was 0.64 to 0.89, while it was 0.48 to 0.75 for the items in the second factor, 0.50 to 0.87 for the items in the third factor, 0.37 to 0.68 for the items in the fourth factor, 0.51 to 0.68 for the items in the fifth factor, and 0.65 to 0.79 for the items in the sixth factor. The health belief model scale may be used in TC screenings for males to measure susceptibility, seriousness, health motivation, barriers, benefits, and self-efficacy.

In this research it is aimed to develop an instrument that could be used to measure university students' satisfactionwith foreign language lessons in a valid and reliable manner. The research was conducted on three separate studygroups consisting of 460 students in the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year. In the research, firstly, anexpert opinion was applied for the content and face validity of the scale prepared in accordance with literature review, student and expert opinions. In the final form, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) were applied. The EFA yielded a construct that consisted of 28 items and three factors that explained the59.97% of the total variance. These factors were named as follows: the Curriculum, Teaching Staff and PhysicalConditions. CFA was performed in the final application phase and the fit indexes were determined to be acceptable. For the criterion validity, the correlations of the factors with the total points of the scale were calculated and a highlevel of meaningful correlation was observed between these values. Internal consistency and split half test values forthe whole scale show that the scale is highly reliable. Based on these findings, it can be said that this scale is a validand reliable measurement tool for university students to measure their satisfaction with foreign language lessons.

Leisure behaviour is an important study area of the literature recently. In apprehending leisure behaviour, perceived freedom in leisure is a significant dimension. The aim of the study is to test validity of “Perceived Freedom in Leisure Scale (PFLS)” by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Study group of this descriptive research consists of 228 university students. Reliability was calculated by internal consistency coefficient Cronbach’s Alpha. As a result of the CFA, modification indexes were examined and items with high error covariance’s were matched (e9-e10, e13-e14, e16-e20). After the modification the results were as follows: χ2/df(χ2/df=1.56) and other fit indexes: AGFI=0.85, GFI=0.87, NFI=0.95, TLI=0.98, CFI=0.98 and RMSEA=0.050. Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient was found as 0.93. Consequently after the findings, PFLS could be declared to be used in leisure research as a valid and reliable measurement tool with its 25 items and one factor structure. Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.

This study aimed to adapt the Selfitis Behavior Scale (SBS) to measure university students' selfitis behavior in Turkey. Within the scope of the study, the SBS was translated from English to Turkish. Data were collected in the validity and reliability studies from four study groups, including 343 university students. According to the confirmatory factor analysis findings, the SBS had good fit indices. As is expected, the criterion-related validity study found moderate- and highlevel positive correlations between the SBS subscales and total scores and the Selfie Attitude Scale (SAS) subscales and total scores. The other criterion-related validity study demonstrated that individuals taking a higher number of selfies than the sum of the scale and subscales scored significantly higher than individuals taking a lower number of selfies. The internal consistency coefficient was calculated to be .92 for the SBS total score, .78 for the Environmental Enhancement Subscale (SBS-EE), .68 for the Social Competition Subscale (SBS-SC), .72 for the AttentionSeeking Subscale (SBS-AS), .84 for the Mood Modification Subscale (SBS-MM), .82 for the SelfConfidence Subscale (SBS-S), and .70 for the Subjective Conformity Subscale (SBS-SCon). The test-retest correlation values found by applying the measurement tool once in four weeks were .77 (SBS), .70 (SBS-EE), .60 (SBS-SC), .82 (SBS-AS), .80 (SBS-MM), .61 (SBS-S), and .61 (SBSSCon), respectively. The mentioned findings demonstrated that the SBS was a valid and reliable measurement tool capable of measuring the selfitis behavior of university students in Turkey.

The learning in the physics laboratory is related to several non-cognitive variables such as anxiety which has a significant role in teaching and learning process. Therefore, university students may have different thoughts and anxiety levels towards physics laboratory class. The aim of this research was to develop a measurement tool assessing the anxiety levels of university students in a physics laboratory class. In this research the Physics Laboratory Anxiety Scale (P-LAS) consisting of 18 items was developed, and its validity and reliability were analysed. The sample consisted of 557 university students (295 female and 262 male) who take physics and/or physics laboratory classes at three different Faculties of Education. Validity of the scale was first assessed by expert review. Exploratory factor analysis was performed to assess structural validity, and revealed a one-dimensional structure. The loading values of all 18 items varied between 0.58 and 0.80, and explained 52% of the total variance. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of internal consistency was calculated as 0.94 and the split-half test correlation was 0.76. These results showed that P-LAS can be used as a valid and reliable instrument in physics education. Keywords: physics education, physics laboratory anxiety, scale validity and reliability, university students.
