Background.Today infertile marriage is not only a serious medical, but also a socio-demographic and economic problem. Male factor contributes averagely to half of the cases of the disease in couples. Such factors as high levels of reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress have been reported to compromise the process of spermatogenesis and sperm function in men. Oxidative stress is a significant risk factor for male infertility. A pro-oxidant testicular environment may alter the expression profile of functional sperm proteins and result in poor sperm quality.Aims.To study the characteristics of the intensity of the processes of lipoperoxidation and antioxidant status in the ejaculate of men with different variants of spermograms.Materials and methods. We examined 69 men with primary infertility and 155 fertile men. The content of lipid peroxidation components and antioxidant protection was determined by spectrophotometric method.Results.The results of the study in men with infertility and asthenozoospermia showed decreased total antioxidant activity of sperm by 50 % and α-tocopherol by 52 %, and in men with infertility and oligozoospermia, decreased total antioxidant activity of sperm by 47 % and α-tocopherol by 41 %.Conclusions.The analysis indicates a change in the parameters of the system of lipid peroxidation – antioxidant defense system and confirms the development of oxidative stress in them. Depending on the pathological state of the ejaculate in men of reproductive age, lipid peroxidation processes have their own characteristics. In men with oligozoospermia, peroxidation processes occur more intensively. Activation of lipid peroxidation – antioxidant defense system processes can be both a consequence and a cause of various metabolic changes in the human body.

Various pathologies, in particular hypertension, accompany violation of the processes of free radical oxidation. The state of the system lipid peroxidation – antioxidant protection can be assessed only by a complex of biochemical methods. The chemiluminescent method is used to obtain a faster result. The method has a number of advantages: measurement of chemiluminescence parameters is carried out in natural conditions and does not require sample preparation, is highly selective, it can be used to identify the presence of free radical pathology, analysis of the intensity of lipid peroxidation processes, the effectiveness of treatment with antioxidant medicament. The aim of the research was to study the lipid peroxidation under hypertension and stress by chemiluminescence. The experiment was conducted on male rats of the ISIAH line. The experiment consisted of 2 stages: stage of alarm and stage of chronic stress. We found that, depending on the type of stress, the state of the system lipid peroxidation-antioxidant protection differed. The role of stress in violation of the processes of lipoperoxidation in hypertension was established. The efficacy of the chemiluminescence method as an alternative to a complex of biochemical methods is shown. Express assessment of pro- and antioxidant status is possible for patients with hypertension.

At the present stage, odontogenic osteomyelitis is one of the common purulent-inflammatory pathologies of the maxillofacial region. There is a tendency to change the nature of the clinical course of the disease: there is a predominance of a sluggish process with a tendency to chronicity and the development of complications. An unexpressed picture of the diagnosis of acute odontogenic osteomyelitis is difficult, which explains the delay in seeking help. The aim of the study was to determine and compare indicators of lipid peroxidation, antioxidant defense and phagocytic activity of neutrophils in patients with acute odontogenic osteomyelitis who received standard and combination treatment with Melaxen. The study was conducted on 30 patients with an established diagnosis of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery of the Republican Clinical Hospital in Vladikavkaz. The indicators of lipid peroxidation, antioxidant protection, and phagocytic activity of neutrophils in patients with acute odontogenic osteomyelitis who received standard treatment and combined with the use of the drug “Melaxen” were evaluated. It was found that the disease can cause an increase in the concentration of malondialdehyde and hydroperoxides and a decrease in catalase activity. Under the influence of pathology, the absorption and digestion functions of neutrophils are inhibited. The efficacy of the use of the drug "Melaxen" in the treatment of acute odontogenic osteomyelitis due to its ability to suppress lipid peroxidation processes, restore antioxidant defense and phagocytic activity of neutrophils has been proven. the inclusion of Melaxen in the standard treatment regimen allows for faster reduction of oxidative stress and restoration of antioxidant protection, and also helps to normalize the phagocytic activity of neutrophils in a shorter time.

Aim. To study the state of lipid peroxidation processes in case of psychodisleptic poisoning of the “bath salt” type and to determine the clinical and biochemical markers of a favorable and complicated course of the acute period of poisoning. Methods. In 347 patients with acute household poisoning (“bath salts”) admitted to the toxicology department of the Chelyabinsk Regional Clinical Hospital №3, the clinical and biochemical features of the acute period of psychodisleptic poisoning (“bath salts”) were studied in a favorable and unfavorable course. Blood and urine samples were taken from all patients, which later underwent chemical and toxicological studies by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Also, lipid peroxidation and antioxidant activity were determined in selected blood samples. Lipid peroxidation products were detected in heptane-isopropanol extracts of biological material by spectrophotometry. The intensity of Fe2+-ascorbate-induced lipid peroxidation was determined in E.I. L'vovskaya's modification. The study of patients' samples was carried out in the biochemical laboratory of the regional clinical hospital №3, at the Department of Biochemistry of the Ural state university of physical culture and the South Ural state medical university of Chelyabinsk. Results. Patients with “bath salts” poisoning in the acute period showed an elevated content of all categories of peroxidation products in the blood serum — by 1.51–1.70 times more than in the control group of healthy people. A decrease in antioxidant activity values I and II by 1.13–1.31 times was also found. With favorable outcomes of poisoning, the level of activation of lipid peroxidation processes decreased with an adequate increase in the activity of the antioxidant system by 1.5–1.6 times. The activation of lipid peroxidation processes in the blood serum accompanied by a decrease in the activity of antioxidant system led to an unfavorable course of the disease and the development of cerebral edema in 18 patients which was fatal. Conclusion. The clinical and biochemical features of the course of the acute period of poisoning with “bath salts” revealed by us suggest adverse outcomes of the disease with a tendency to an increase in the content of serum lipid peroxidation products in the course of the disease (instead of reducing them) along with a reduction of antioxidant activity; these indicators should be compensated by the use of antioxidant therapy.

This paper presents the comparative generalization of the results obtained by studying the activation of the processes of lipid peroxidation and the state of antioxidant protection factors in the peripheral blood and unstimulated oral fluid fraction in patients having a complicated course of odontogenic mandibular osteomyelitis. To determine the effectiveness of natural antioxidants, which were additionally included in the therapy protocol for patients with this the disease, we created two similar groups of participants (22 and 23 people in each) aged 7 to 15 years. Based on our previous reports, on admission to the hospital, these patients demonstrated the activation of the lipid peroxidation processes and the reduction of antioxidant protection factors in biological substrates. The scope of the treatment measures described in the protocol did not allow us to normalize their components for the time of clinical recovery. This prompted us to prescribe tocopherol acetate and ascorbic acid as components of the integrated complex therapeutic measures. This helped to stabilize the levels of all indicators up to the time of clinical recovery in this group of patients and supported the feasibility of these pharmaceuticals as important components in the therapy of odontogenic inflammatory diseases.

Aim. The article deals with the assessment of the lipid profile, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant protection in freestyle wrestlers belonging to different ethnic groups. Materials and methods. The study involved freestyle male wrestlers aged 18–22 with the rank of the Candidate for Master of Sport and Master of Sport regularly practicing freestyle wrestling. We studied a serum consisting of blood plasma and erythrocyte hemolysate. Lipid exchange was studied with the help of the BTS-350 analyzer (Spain) and BioSystems (Spain) reagents. To establish aminotransferase in blood serum, we used Vital (Russia) reagents. The components of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant protection were established with the help of spectrophotometric and fluorometric methods. Results. Freestyle athletes of the Russian ethnic group are characterized by a significantly lower TG concentrations compared to Buryat athletes. In the system of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant protection, in athletes of the Russian ethnic group, we revealed a significant AOA, reduced glutathione and retinol compared to Buryat athletes. Conclusion. The data obtained prove a different degree of metabolic activity in athletes from various ethnic groups. The balance between lipid oxidation and antioxidant protection mostly determines metabolic intensity as well as adaptation capacities of the body. The study of metabolic changes in highly-skilled athletes from different ethnic groups can contribute to the deepening of knowledge about the physiological basis and pathogenetic effects of stress on the human body. This will be one of the factors for optimizing training and providing the search for the ways of increasing physical activity as a mean of preserving the nation and sports development.

Parasitic invasions in horses often cause metabolic disorders and have a negative impact on their health and performance. The purpose of this research was to study the processes of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant protection in horse helminthiases, as well as following the deworming with a drug containing the antioxidant santoquine. The intensity of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant protection was determined in horses with different degrees of invasion by concentrations of malondialdehyde and ceruloplasmin accumulated in the blood. The studies have revealed that the concentration of malondialdehyde, the end product of free radical oxidation of cell membrane phospholipids, depends on the intensity of infestation with intestinal nematodes. In horses infested with paraskaris and intestinal strongylata, a significant accumulation of malondialdehyde was by 18.2% higher as compared to uninfected animals. The level of ceruloplasmin was significantly lower – by 21.8% in animals with a moderate degree of invasion as compared to clinically healthy animals. To neutralize free radicals the antioxidant santoquine was used. Effective deworming by means of using santoquine reduced the intensity of lipid peroxidation processes, which resulted in a significant decrease in the concentration of malondialdehyde by 22.1% and an increase in the level of ceruloplasmin against the background of the lower rate of free radical oxidation by 25.8%.
