: Security and protection demands in tourism industry are very high due to the vulnerability of its infrastructure in light of security challenges and threats. Actual threats appear in the form of endangering the values that compose a train of products and services in tourism – from the moment of buying/selling a package tour, transfer of passengers and luggage to their destination, to stay in hotels and meeting different needs of tourists. This work addresses the criminal, terrorist, and economic threats to hotels. The effects of these and other threats may endanger the foreign investments in tourism industry and the arrival of foreign tourists who, as the newest polls show, prioritize security factor in their selection of tourist destination. The hotel security issue is addressed in light of its preference when selecting tourism supply and services, which is an important indication of competitive advantage.

The research on the impact of transport services on the development of the tourism industry has been carried out. For the selection of the most significant factors of the transport infrastructure quality and tourist demand, which can affect the effectiveness of development indicators of a tourist destination, the correlation analysis methods have been used. To determine the development level of countries according to the quality and demand indicators of the transport services, the methods of cluster analysis have been used, which confirm the established hypotheses concerning the connection between the formed groups of factors and the development of tourist destination.

The record-breaking heatwave of 2003 also had an impact on the vegetation in Switzerland. To examine its influences seven phenological late spring and summer phases were evaluated together with six phases in the autumn from a selection of stations. 30% of the 122 chosen phenological time series in late spring and summer phases set a new record (earliest arrival). The proportion of very early arrivals is very high and the mean deviation from the norm is between 10 and 20 days. The situation was less extreme in autumn, where 20% of the 103 time series chosen set a new record. The majority of the phenological arrivals were found in the class «normal» but the class«very early» is still well represented. The mean precocity lies between five and twenty days. As far as the leaf shedding of the beech is concerned, there was even a slight delay of around six days. The evaluation serves to show that the heatwave of 2003 strongly influenced the phenological events of summer and spring.

Sri Lanka in recent past have emerged as a very fast growing tourist destination there are many reasons for this but the main reason being that, the tourist visiting Srilanka are motivated by the perception of beautiful virgin scenery, opportunities for sightseeing, and relaxed place of life. It is necessary therefore to take account of the global trends in tourism, which may have impact on the overall tourism in Srilanka. The aim of this study is to examine the issues relevant to the development of tourism industry in Srilanka and the challenges that are faced by the Srilankan tourism industry.

This research analyzed the online reputation of Marbella as a tourist destination and the profiles of the reviewers according to sociodemographic characteristics. A correlational, quantitative research technique was used in this study based on the manual extraction of more than 4000 reviews generated on TripAdvisor. The data used in this study were collected from the TripAdvisor website, taking, as a sample, tourists who had visited the city in the last three years. Ratings that did not provide full data on the variables were excluded. The findings show that Marbella is considered a luxury shopping destination. The preliminary conclusions allow us to generalize about the sociodemographic profile of its tourists. The findings of the study will provide valuable information for Marbella’s Destination Management Organization (DMO). On the one hand, this study highlights the importance of ranking the attractions of the city to create better communication strategies and enhance the appeal of those attractions that receive the best ratings, establishing the true vocation of Marbella as a tourist destination. On the other hand, it provides information on what tourists perceive to be negative elements, allowing the administration to create an improvement plan. The novelty of this research paper is that it delves into Marbella’s online reputation through an analysis of specific attractions’ ratings. Areas that require further attention in future research have been highlighted, along with specific advice on each attraction that contributes to the tourist offerings of the city.

Abstract Instrumental stakeholder theory seeks to explain how managing stakeholders effectively can yield competitive advantage for incumbent firms. We extend instrumental stakeholder theory to explain and predict future competition operationalized as new entrepreneurial entries. Our study is among the first to empirically examine the relationships between aggregate stakeholder management performance and the entrepreneurial entries of individuals. Using a combined U.S. dataset from 2003 to 2013 from the Kinder, Lydenberg and Domini (KLD) Index, Compustat, and Kauffman’s Entrepreneurship Survey, we find support for three hypotheses. First, higher levels of stakeholder management performance are related to lower rates of entrepreneurial entry. Second, a curvilinear relationship exists between stakeholder management performance and entrepreneurial entry, where both low and very high stakeholder management performance increase entrepreneurial entry. Third, the greater the variance in stakeholder management performance across stakeholders, the more entrepreneurial entry. Our findings suggest that managing for stakeholders can help to avoid future competition. We add an entrepreneurship lens to the business ethics of stakeholder theory showing how incumbent stakeholder management performance shapes opportunities for entrepreneurs, a largely neglected stakeholder group.

The phenologies of introduced relative to native species can greatly influence the degree and symmetry of competition between them. The European spider Linyphia triangularis (Clerck, 1757) (Linyphiidae) reaches very high densities in coastal Maine (USA). Previous studies suggest that L. triangularis negatively affects native linyphiid species, with competition for webs as one mechanism. We documented phenological differences between L. triangularis and three native species that illustrate the potential for the reversal of size-based competitive advantage over the course of the year. To test whether relative size influences interaction outcome, we allowed a resident spider to build a web and then introduced an intruder. We examined whether the outcomes of agonistic interactions over the webs were influenced by the species of the resident (invasive or native), the relative size of the contestants, and the species × size interaction. We found that the importance of relative size differed among species. In interactions between L. triangularis and each of two native species, size played a greater role than resident species on the outcome of interactions, suggesting that competitive advantage reverses over the season based on phenology-related size differences. Linyphia triangularis had a negative impact on the third species regardless of relative size.

Abstract Prolificacy is a very important trait in sheep. Romanov sheep, the well-known Russian sheep breed, are characterized by very high prolificacy; however, the genetic basis of this unique property of Romanov sheep is still unknown. It was reported that Ovine BMPR1B gene, located on the OAR6, is associated with prolificacy in several sheep breeds. The aim of our study was to identify candidate SNPs within BMPR1B gene, related to prolificacy. To achieve this goal, using NGS technology, we sequenced ovine BMPR1B gene in Romanov sheep (n = 6), which are characterized by high prolificacy (about 270 lambs per 100 ewes). The sequences of BMPR1B gene of Noire du Velay, Tan, Southdown and Australian Horned Merino sheep breeds as well as Asiatic mouflon (n = 1), which are characterized by significantly lower prolificacy (from 110 to 180 lambs per 100 ewes) were derived from publicly available sources and used for comparison. FST analysis performed in PLINK 1.9 program revealed 10 SNPs with values higher than 0.8. The majority of candidate SNPs under putative selection were localized in the region from 29,382,098 to 29,430,387 on OAR6 of Ovine reference genome (Oar_v3.1 (Ensembl release 98). Thus, we can suggest, that this region of the BMPR1B gene can be considered as the putative region, associated with high prolificacy of Romanov sheep. Additional studies will be needed to confirm the effect of identified candidate SNPs on prolificacy traits. The research results will be useful for artificial selection of sheep with higher prolific capacity, including the introduction of desired alleles in sheep populations using genome editing technologies. The starting mode for the train is the most difficult. An effective method of pulling is the selection of coupling clearances. In this case, the cars are set in motion sequentially and the inert mass, as well as the static friction force immediately at the moment of starting, are minimal. This method has two significant drawbacks - a small fixed value of the gaps in the couplings and the shock nature of the impulse transfer. These disadvantages can be avoided by using elastically deformable couplings. The aim of this work is to construct a mathematical model of "easy" starting of a train with elastic couplings. The softening of the train start-off mode is essentially due to the replacement of the simultaneous start-off of the sections with alternate ones. To exclude longitudinal vibrations of the composition, after reaching the maximum tension of the coupling, the possibility of its harmonic compression should be mechanically blocked.

The motion characteristic of key components is a decisional factor to the working reliability and stability of a package machine. In this paper, the motion simulation of a key component is carried out in the ADAMS software environment. By analysis of the force, variance of the center-of-mass and the moment of the component, the mutation point in the motion is found, and then the structure is optimized by selection of different structural parameters. The optimization result shows a significant improvement for the reliability and stability of the whole machine.
