Establishing and organising university museums at higher-education institutions demonstrates an increased interest in the history of the given institution, its bonds with the region, yet first and foremost it points to the need to preserve traces of academic heritage constituting an important component of national heritage. To-date, university museums in Poland have been dedicated neither an unequivocal definition, nor specific legal regulations. These organizations are characterized by differentiated management modes, formulation of goals, as well as varied policies of amassing collections. An attempt at defining university museums and their legal status, as well as their positioning in tertiary-education institutions’ structure has been made. Moreover, the nuances resulting from the failure to have included university museums in the Act on Museums of 21 November 1996 have been clarified. Additionally, a list of university museums for 2020, put together as a result of the research conducted by the paper’s Authors and based on the documents available in the archive of the Association of University Museums (SMU), has been presented.

Such characteristic may be observed by means of the historical description of the business evolution. Accordingly, Gil (1994) states that the emerging of such management of human resources derives from the growing of organizations and the increase of the complexity of chores in the management of people’s field, therefore its development is directly related the history of the development of the General Theory of Management (GTM).Keywords: Business. This paper takes up previous works by the author and reformulates them to argue that there are increasingly clear indications of the adoption of “post-disciplinary” modalities in the institutionalized practices of knowledge production on communication in various regions of the world. Faced with the growing epistemic fragmentation and dispersion of this academic field, and the evident transformations of the sociocultural practices that are its references and subject matters, post-disciplinary research may represent a useful alternative consistent with the very history of the university institutionalization of this specialty, in which contributions from the humanities and social sciences converge, with apparent independence from the different conditions of national higher education systems. Some of the more developed formulations of this perspective and their strategic implications for university practices in the field are analysed.

In his book ‘From Seminary to University: An Institutional History of the Study of Religion in Canada’, Aaron Hughes offers a comprehensive portrait of the historical construction of the study of religion in Canada. While Hughes explains in-depth the social, political and historical conditions of production of knowledge on religion as an academic domain in provinces of Protestant heritage, his contribution is less thorough regarding the development of this academic field in the province of Quebec. In this article, I depict how the creation of institutions of knowledge in Quebec hinged around the Catholic hegemony that lasted since the inception of the colony, namely among faculties of theologies that framed main historical universities. I also argue that this heritage has shaped the ongoing construction of the study of religion as an epistemological issue between Catholic theologians and religious studies scholars.

On May 2019 Brazilian Federal government declared it would follow the Japanese academic model, cutting funding for undergraduate and graduate-level programs and research on Humanities and Social Sciences. The cited reforms were implemented by Japanese Education Minister Shimomura in 2015, but Japan would later back down on these cuts. In Brazil, however, the cuts affect 30% of the budget for Federal educational institutions and frozen the continuity of the most important program from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), which distributed grants for researchers on graduate programs. This paper conducts a literature and bibliographic review in order to debate the Brazilian’s cuts on Higher Education. It is concluded that those cuts are mainly politically motivated, affecting mostly the hard sciences instead of Humanities and Social Sciences. It is also concluded the political motivations behind the slashing of funding for Education may backfire, fostering the actual and new forms of political associativism between Brazilian students and researchers.

Drawing up a collective portrait of the faculty corporation using prosopography and statistical analysis is one of the most popular approaches among specialists in the history of higher education in the Russian Empire. However, mostly such researches concern only one of the existed educational institutions. At the same time, comparative analysis of various universities allows to get a more complete picture of the specifics of higher education. Authors of the given paper try to compare the main features of the career path and academic mobility of the university lecturers at the capital (St. Petersburg) and provincial (Novorossiysk and Tomsk) universities. Among the compared aspects: the length of work, the availability of a scientific degree, the ratio ofprofessors and junior teachers, the number of own graduates, etc. These and other data made it possible to identify the main models of a scientific career typical for the capital and the province.

In the field of human research, researchers are faced with unexpected moral dilemmas, as a result of the development of technologies applied to health. Due to the great importance of this issue, our objective was to evaluate bioethics instruction in the education of researchers in Brazilian graduate programs in dentistry. Eighty-seven graduate programs in dentistry, recognized by CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) were evaluated in this study. Data were extracted independently by two researchers from the CAPES website, and from the websites of the graduate programs, directly or via links to the programs available at the CAPES website. Forty-eight out of 87 programs had an ethics/bioethics course as part of their curricula. Of the graduation programs graded 5, 6 or 7 by CAPES, 38% included bioethics courses, while 62% of the programs graded 3 or 4 by CAPES had bioethics courses as part of their curricula. These findings are an alert to those involved in dental research education, as they showed that, although resolution 196/96 by the National Council of Health regulating human research in Brazil was published ten years ago, bioethics instruction in Brazilian graduate programs in dentistry is still at an incipient stage. This situation indicates a need for ethics pedagogy in the education of young researchers.
