Information Technology makes things easier, the existence of a library in an institution of higher education is very important needed by all academicians, to realize a digital library and library services that are ideal for users is not an easy job. The Brawijaya University library has implemented a book lending independent service and book extensions for its visitors, so that users can feel comfortable and satisfied when utilizing the services available in the library. The independent service system in UB's Library as a form of transformation of the university library in improving the ideal service for visitors.

The purpose of this study was to determine the usability analysis of independent service information systems in the Brawijaya University Library. This research is a quantitative descriptive study, using the theory of usability to determine the evaluation of self-service systems, the method used is a survey with a sample of 100 students. Hypothesis testing and data processing in this study using Partial LeastSquares(PLS).

The results of this study indicate that there are 4 hypotheses that have been empirically proven to affect the usability of independent services in the Brawijaya University Library, namely the variables of Learnability, Efficiency, Memorability, Satisfaction (user satisfaction). 1 hypothesis is empirically proven to have no effect, namely the Few error variable (some errors), so that the UB library should innovate to improve services to users by submitting a mobile android based book loan application design. The intended application is intended so that the library user can borrow books independently only with the smartphone the user has.

In many countries, university libraries are required to demonstrate quantitatively their value to their institutions. Consequently, many universities spend a large part of their institutional budgets on acquiring new library books, paying for high online journal subscription fees, and recruiting library staff. However, few studies have been conducted to evaluate the contribution of the university libraries to the students' success. Thus, this study, which applied a quantitative survey methodology to quantify the contribution of a Namibian university library to student academic performance, was conducted. The study determined the contribution of the university library services to students' academic performance. Additionally, the study established a relationship between students' library service satisfaction and academic performance. Analysis of library user satisfaction, student age, and gender were also examined.

The university community is not a static environment but, rather, one fraught with change and adjustment to change. How do academic libraries within a university setting effectively address the evolving service and resource needs of a diverse patron community? One method that has received increasing attention is the development and implementation of internal instruments specifically designed to assess user satisfaction with services and resources. This study assesses undergraduate resource and service needs, identifies librarywide unmet needs, and gives both library user and librarian an opportunity to engage in proactive dialogue.

This research is entitled strategy of university library services in the new normal period case study of the technical implementation unit (UPT) of the University of Riau library. The purpose of this study was to determine the service strategy taken by the technical implementing unit (UPT) of the Riau University library in the new normal era. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The processing method uses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The informants in this study were the head of the library, the head of the service sector, and the head of the IT department. The results of this study are that there are several strategies taken by the Riau University library, that is the development of digital libraries that must be accelerated and add supporting applications to ensure the smooth distribution of information to users.

The application of UX expertise is beneficial in all the areas and aspects of library services and products. All what a librarian needs is an understanding of those principles and some tools with which to practice them. The goal of this chapter, therefore, is to provide a guide for librarians, whether they are specifically in charge of UX work at their library or aspire to integrate UX into their work on other library services and products. This chapter provides some theoretical background on the traditional goal of library user satisfaction and introduces UX as an approach that benefits libraries and their users. It gives an overview of popular UX methodologies and describes real-life UX in libraries through the stories from three librarians in their respective institutions: the New York Public Library, New York University, and University of California, Riverside.

Purpose This paper aims to describe the response of students to the shortage of materials at the Université d’Abomey-Calavi (Republic of Benin). Design/methodology/approach A survey was conducted with over 2,000 students of the Université d’Abomey-Calavi in 2014, and the data were analysed. The paper deals with two questions related to the university library services they use. Findings To satisfy their information and documentation needs, students visit several university library services even on different campuses. Practical implications The study recommends the setting up and the implementation of a long-term development plan for the University of Abomey-Calavi libraries. Originality/value The study describes the behaviour of students of a developing country when faced with a lack of relevant information and documentation resources.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to extend significantly the technology acceptance model (TAM) of Davis to design an extended TAM model to be used in the evaluation and assessment of e-information services for information research such as e-library services. The present TAM extension is based on two variables of behavioral intention: the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of a system. Furthermore, the user satisfaction, free access, information architecture, content richness, policies and rules, publishers’ quality, system self-efficacy and task technology fit were incorporated into the TAM to extend it with other factors theoretically motivated and would be of interest more generally. Design/methodology/approach The researcher adopted an experimental approach-based comparison between an experimental group (107 researchers) using an electronic information service (the e-library service of the university) and a control group (107 researchers) not registered in this e-information service of the university. Findings The researcher used the effect size values based t-test independent samples at the 0.05 level to adapt the structural model equation to the experimental sample. Principal results show that the behavioral intention was influenced significantly by user satisfaction. The perceived usefulness of the e-library services was influenced significantly by the perceived ease of use, information architecture, content richness, free access, publishers’ quality, task-technology fit and e-library service self-efficacy. Originality/value This paper is useful in advancing a framework for the evaluation and assessment of the electronic information service used for information research and exploring users’ attitudes toward using that service.
