The issue of acoustics is still underappreciated both in interior design in public utility facilities and in urbanized spaces. As noise pollution is on the rise, acoustic ecology is a vital part of responsible urban planning. The article explores the issue of sound in an open space in terms of noise protection, but its primary goal is to discuss it in the context of shaping a soundscape consciously. Finally, the article points out that it is crucial to protect soundscape as cultural heritage.

Environmental noise pollution is the primary environmental problem faced by the superstructure of metro depots. The throat area of depot is prone to high wheel-rail impact noise due to the use of seam lines, multiple joints, turnouts and small radius curves. The noise exerts through fire and ventilation openings on the side walls, which may cause high annoyance to the residents in the superstructures both on the upper cover and surrounding areas. In this paper, a field test was condected on the environmental noise in the throat area of metro depot. The noise of the trackside and adjacent open space were recorded, and the time-frequency domain characteristics and statistical characteristics and attenuation law of the noise generated by train operation in the throat area were analyzed. The research results have certain guiding significance for the prediction and control of noise in the throat area of the depot.

Kartika Wijaya Hotel and Niagara Hotel-Malang are two heritage buildings, which are well managed to preserve their historical building that, has been established since 1891. We can find good harmony and variety in interior elements and design styles, such as Colonial style, Art Noveau and Art Deco style. The purpose of documentating this heritage building that has different design styles is for those who needed. The data will be classified according to the period of the development of the buildings and characteristics of existing styles. The research objective on Kartika Wijaya hotel building and art styles is to preserve historic buildings in Indonesia, through documentation of interior elements and architectures, and to conducted a study of the interior and architectures elements, interior design ornaments, that founded in historical Kartika Wijaya Hotel and Niagara Hotel in Malang, whose the existence needs to be preserved.

Noise pollution or noise disturbance is the disturbing or excessive noise that may harm the activity or balance of Human or animal . The fact is that we can't see , taste or smell it may help explain why it has not received as much attention as other type of pollution. Some causes of Noise pollution include industrization, poor urban planning, social events ,transportation, construction activities and household choirs . The health effects of Noise pollution includes anxiety and stress reactions also fright, headache, irritability and nervousness. Noise pollution can be prevented .

The city of Sefrou, because of its geographical position, its cultural heritage and urban planning, than economically, is classified as one of the sites with a vulnerability particular to floods. Oued Aggay, the subject of this study, constitutes a danger potential because of the violence of its floods. In this perspective that comes this study that part of the creation and management of a spatial database on flood risk in the Sebou basin. It aims to spatialize the extent of the floods of Oued Aggay and propose solutions to protection the city of Sefrou against floods. The chosen approach goes through a hydrological study, the choice of profiles and the construction of onedimensional model from HEC RAS hydrology software. This study allowed us to simulate floods by statistical methods, identify flood zones and determine the different water levels in the flooded area for the Oued Aggay watershed.

The incorporation of sustainable design measures in urban planning and development has been steadily increasing in the recent years. Achieving a sustainable urban environment requires accounting for the economic, environmental and social impacts of the development involved. An important factor affecting the social and environmental sustainability of urbanised areas which is commonly overlooked in urban planning is the noise pollution level. Despite the proven impacts of noise pollution on the general wellbeing of individuals within an urban setting, there remains a lack of systematic methods to integrate the impact of noise within the design of urban areas. This chapter seeks to raise awareness of the issue of noise pollution in urban settings while proposing novel approaches for its incorporation as a design parameter in planning the layout of smart cities.

The chapter explains a new design methology. On the basis of prehistoric textile products and their cultural design, the smallest units, fabric patterns, the most diverse types of fabric, enmeshment and cross-linking, new arrangements of yarn systems into new one-, two-, or multi-dimensional structures, relationships, systems and networks, how things interrelate with each other is depicted. The method relies on the recognition of patterns and relationships from all possible disciplines, whether textile, architecture, interior design, urban planning, mobility, social media, or social society, which can then be used holistically and sustainably for all complex questions of life and space. On the basis of abstract concepts, attention is trained for units and made available for New ones. This enables completely new perspectives in an ever more complex, social, and societally changing world. The examples and design approaches presented in the chapter concentrate primarily on process development and the associated holistic approaches.

The paper is devoted to research of scientific and methodological approaches to the definition of urban planning objects of protection. Attention is paid to individual objects of cultural heritage and the totality of such objects united in ensembles, as well as a significant area and complexity of the world cultural heritage site “Historical center of Saint-Petersburg and related groups of monuments”. Typical examples are considered: Kirov Department Store and factory-kitchen, G. F. Voldt’s Summer house, Estate of E. I. Lopukhina (Levashovy’s, Vyazemski’s) “Aspen Grove”.

In this article, I argue that the meaning of memorial space can be better understood by turning our focus to the ambient characteristics of these spaces. Ambience is used here to refer to the environmental features that exist at the periphery of our attention. Here, I offer advice from ancient teachers of the art of memory that prescribes spaces with particular environmental qualities as evidence of the important role that these spaces serve in the storage and recollection of memories. Advice such as practice in solitude in dim lit spaces—or well lit, according to the teacher—highlights the importance that these ancient teachers placed on ambience for the proper storage of memories. We also know that these architectural mnemonic features were also “turned outward” to convey meaning. Instead of the traditional semiotic approach to architectural criticism that looks at commemorative symbolism, this article follows an approach that interrogates architecture’s mnemonic function. An analysis of the ambient features emphasized in Ottawa’s urban planning documents reveals that this is an important yet often overlooked aspect of urban spaces by those who study memorials. The Todd Plan, The Holt Report, and The Gréber Plan serve as a foundation for understanding the character of Ottawa’s space. Other more recent urban planning documents from the National Capital Commission are brought in to demonstrate how the role of ambience is afforded even greater prominence than it already was. Reconsidering the different types of spaces (natural and open space) and the role of sensation as uniquely ambient features of space open up new possibilities for examining the memories that these characteristics invoke in audiences. By unpacking the meaning of memorial space, through a mnemonic lens we are able to more thoughtfully engage with the reception of these spaces by visitors.
