Abstract: A challenging diversity in Indonesian society turns out to be cultural asset and conflict.Tolerance is the main key to ease up the cultural conflict through multicultural education. Earlychildhood can be taught about diversity awareness by diversity experience, which is a basic stepdevelopment of tolerance. This study is aimed to uncover learning strategy in enhancing diversityawareness, such as, understanding diversity, skill in communicating diversity and treatingdiversity positively. This study employs Research and Development approach modified into threephases of research: preliminary study, development model and validation test model. In thepreliminary study, bibliographical study discusses multicultural theme “What a BeautifulDiversity in the Old Town” and social background study about children culture in Semarang city.Development model consist of five steps based on five concepts, namely, identification ofmulticultural theme, unit planning of multicultural theme with whole language programme, preparation for game apparatus and books about multicultural stories, implementation ofmulticultural learning, and assesment on diversity awareness. Validation test model is comprisedof assesment validation about diversity awareness and models of validation by experts. It’ssignificant, effective and appropriate. Discoveries resulting from study, communication andparticipation are factors influencing level of diversity awareness. Running a college is no easy task. Amid complex diversity issues, political turmoil, and ever-changing student narratives, the campus environment represents a sea of countless challenges. To ensure success in the long run, administration officials must construct well-designed plans that review past events while carefully assessing future possibilities. Such plans should include a sustained and comprehensive focus on diversity awareness, implementation of multicultural education frameworks, and additional initiatives such as mentoring and community outreach programs. Above all, administrations must work closely with all members of the university including staff, faculty, alumni, and students to promote positive outcomes despite the inherent uncertainties that lay ahead.

ABSTRACT. Remembering recently studied materials (i.e., retrieval practice) is more beneficial for learning than restudying these materials. Objective: To investigate whether retrieval practice benefits learning for individuals with Down syndrome. Methods: Eighteen individuals with Down syndrome (mean age=21.61 years, SD=5.93) performed a task entailing a first read of an encyclopedic text covering a series of target words. After reading the text twice, participants recalled half of the target words (retrieval practice), and reread the other half (restudy). After 48 hours, participants answered a multiple-choice test including all target words. Subsequently, WASI’s Vocabulary and Matrix reasoning subtests were administered to estimate intelligence. Results: The benefit of retrieval practice for learning was numerically greater than the benefit of restudy, although this advantage did not reach statistical significance. Inspection of individual data suggested that the benefit of retrieval practice was greater than the benefit of restudy for the majority of the participants, independently of the participants’ vocabulary or reasoning abilities. Conclusion: Although more research is needed before retrieval practice can be recommended as a learning strategy for individuals with Down syndrome, the data suggest that retrieval practice can be a useful teaching tool for at least part of this population.

Model reuse is a key issue to be resolved in parallel and distributed simulation at present. However, component models built by different domain experts usually have diversiform interfaces, couple tightly, and bind with simulation platforms closely. As a result, they are difficult to be reused across different simulation platforms and applications. To address the problem, this paper first proposed a reusable component model framework. Based on this framework, then our reusable model development approach is elaborated, which contains two phases: (1) domain experts create simulation computational modules observing three principles to achieve their independence; (2) model developer encapsulates these simulation computational modules with six standard service interfaces to improve their reusability. The case study of a radar model indicates that the model developed using our approach has good reusability and it is easy to be used in different simulation platforms and applications.

The numerous cases of academic procrastination of students in various universities in Indonesia are worrying. In terms of intervention, there is a proven effective approach to improve students’ skill to cope with academic procrastination. It’s called Guidance and Counseling Gestalt Prophetic (G-Pro). Unfortunately, due to a lack of access, G-Pro needs to be developed. This article will present a new approach called E-Counseling Gestalt Prophetic (E-G-Pro). The author used the Borg and Gall model research and development (R & D) model with three research steps: a preliminary study, model development, and model validity.  Focus group discussion (FGD) has been done to assess the properness of the model. Four parties, each from information and technology expert, Qur'anic Interpretation expert, Islamic education and religiosity expert, guidance and counselor expert, and counselee, were invited to the FGD. Based on internal judgement by experts and users, the E-G-Pro is highly feasible to be applied to help students cope with academic procrastination in Indonesian Islamic Higher Education.
