The research aims to improve the ability of students insolving problems based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) subjects Mathematics material bangun ruang sisi datar with the use of learning models Team Assisted Individualization (TAI).  This research uses the Research method Classroom Action (CAR) with two cycles, where each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data analysis using the percentage formula, if completeness is ≥ 85%, the cycle is terminated sign that the research has been successful.  Based on research that has been done, obtained the increase in students completeness from the pre cycle results was 19.4%, in the first cycle amounted to 77.4%, and in the second cycle of 89.7%.  This shows that the use of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) learning model can improve the ability to solve questions based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) subject mathematics material to bangun ruang sisi datar in students VIII grade of SMP Negeri 1 Juwangi in the academic year 2019/2020.

The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of university-level students in solving higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) problems with PISA level 5 standards in learning mathematics. This type of research is a qualitative description. The subjects used in this study were students of Sanata Dharma University, semester II Mathematics Education S1, as many as 15 students. The research instrument used was a test item with a HOTS level 5 indicator. The data collection method was obtained through giving tests based on the PISA level 5 indicator. The data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. This research was conducted in March 2020. The results of this study are through the results of the description of the subject's thought process and the results of the analysis of the HOTS indicator achievement, questions with high-level thinking difficulties that are at level 5 cannot be solved by 15 research subjects. Of the 15 subjects, the researcher reduced the data based on the process carried out to produce three different groups of answers. In level 5 HOTS questions, six students have mathematical abilities that meet the four indicators.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of contextual media with Arduino Uno-based media on students’ higher-order thinking skills on density material. The population of this research is class XII IPA MAN 1 Pontianak totaling six classes, with samples of class XII IPA A and class XII IPA B. This study is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest group design—sampling with a simple random technique to determine the experimental and control classes. The data collection technique used is a test in the form of pretest and post-test questions. The data analysis technique used is the one-party t-test based on the sig value and the normalized gain (N-gain). The results of research data analysis showed that contextual learning media with media based on Arduino Uno had a positive effect and improved students’ higher-order thinking skills than students who used conventional media. It is indicated by the results of the t-test with a value of sig. The post-test score is 0.001, and the results of the improvement test with the N-gain of the experimental class are in the medium category, higher than the control class category, namely low. So that learning physics using learning media based on Ardouno Uno has a positive effect and can improve students’ Higher Order Thinking skills.

This study was conducted to identify learning requirements, objective condition, and learning design of academic writing based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) approach which took in Language and Arts Faculty in Jakarta State University. It used qualitative, quantitative approach and ground method with the procedure includes conducting initial research (pre-development), designing academic writing learning design, examining and revising the result of academic writing learning design and effectiveness examination. The result showed that the requirements of academic writing learning indicate a gap between student’s requirement and learning situation. Afterward, the researcher also conducted the second research to resolve the condition. The second research was learning tools development in the form of semester lecture program plan, unit learning plan and teaching material description. After conducting the effectiveness examination, it was proven that academic writing learning based in HOTS is effective. Thus, the result of this study was recommended for academic writing process in university.

HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) is an instrument that assesses students' hight level thinking skills so that students are not just remembering but are expected to be able to develop ideas. Based on Bloom's Taxonomy, HOTS questions consist of 3 levels, namely analyzing, evaluating and creating. This study aims to describe the ability of students to work on HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) problems in mathematics learning in VA class SD Negeri No. 55 / I Sridadi at the level of analyzing, evaluating, and creating. This research uses a descriptive quantitative research design. The data of this study were obtained using tests of the students' ability to work on HOTS questions in mathematics learning provided to students by using content validity, while data analysis was performed using descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that the ability of VA grade students of SD Negeri No 55 / I Sridadi in working on HOTS questions in mathematics learning at the level of analyzing questions was obtained on average by 56.35 with quite good categories. In the matter of evaluating level obtained an average of 72.95 with a high category, on the matter of creating level obtained an average of 64.9 with a pretty good category. The conclusion of this research is the ability of VA class students of SD Negeri No 55 / I Sridadi in working on HOTS questions in mathematics learning is in quite good category, meaning that students are able to work on HOTS questions in mathematics learning.

The research aims to describe the level of higher-order thinking skills ability of students in solving generalization patterns in two-dimensional arithmetic series based on revised Bloom's taxonomy. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects were students of the Master Program of Mathematics Education at Jember University. The data was collected by giving open problem-solving tasks and documentation studies to students to develop patterns of one-dimensional arithmetic series. Then, students are given the task of solving the next problem to draw up a generalization pattern of two-dimensional arithmetic series. The data analysis technique used is qualitative descriptive data analysis. The results showed that the percentage of higher-order thinking skills aspects included analyze (C4) reached 88.89%, evaluate (C5) reached 83.33%, and create (C6) reached 66.67%. The results of this achievement are influenced by several factors, including accuracy in compiling numbers and expanding existing data, mastery of arithmetic series permutation concepts and their application, the tendency of graduate students to rely on memorization and imitations of existing examples.

Chemistry textbooks used as learning media should contain questions that improve students' thinking processes, especially higher order thinking skills (HOTS). However, there are no criteria for assessing the questions in the textbook, especially for higher order thinking questions. This study aims to determine the HOTS aspect using the Brookhart category on questions contained in the XII grade chemistry textbook. The research method used is descriptive method of document analysis. The results showed that the average percentage of HOTS questions in the three class XII chemistry textbooks was 25.95%, covering aspects of analyzing 8.85%, creating 3.51%, reasoning and logic 8.35%, problem solving 3.71%, and creative thinking 1.53%. Meanwhile, the aspects of evaluating and making decisions are not present in each analyzed chemistry textbook. Based on the research results, it can be seen that the chemistry textbook for class XII is still dominated by questions of low-level thinking skills.
