This study investigates the contribution of Islamic banks and Islamic windows to thegrowth of the Nigerian economy. Data were obtained using structured questionnaires.379 copies of questionnaires were administered based on the sample size obtainedvia the use of Taro Yamane formula. 367 questionnaires were successfully retrieved.Variables such as deposit activities, loan activities, and perception of bank employeeswere also adopted as explanatory or independent variable and dependent variablerespectively. To support the study hypothesis were also formulated. For the analysis, measures of central tendency (tables, frequency and percentages) and inferentialstatistics (Logit Regression) were used. The result revealed that the variables (i.e.deposit and loan activities) have a positive impact on the growth of Nigeria’s economybecause the probability values of the variables (P=0.003 and 0.019) were less thanalpha (α =0.05) level of significance. In other words, this implies that Islamic banksand windows have largely supported private consumption, business investments of itscustomers, aid government spending via sharia bonds (sukuk) to fund developmentalprojects of its customers. The study concludes that Islamic banks and windows havecontributed towards the growth of the Nigeria’s economy. Furthermore, the studyrecommends that there is need for creating the necessary legal framework to ensureits smooth operations, intensify efforts on creating public awareness, rolling out moresharia compliant products that can take care of the peculiarities that exist in businessenvironment and training and retraining of staff on effective Islamic banking.

The Faculties of Engineering Sciences at Universidad Católica del Norte in Chile regard teacher training as a necessary tool for its academics’ professional development and as a fundamental way to improve their teaching quality. The Teaching Unit for Innovation in Engineering (UIDIN) has developed a new curriculum and training programme which seeks to support the faculty in its implementation. This article presents some of the outcomes of a study aimed at qualitatively examining the development of the faculty’s conceptions and philosophy of teaching and improvements in pedagogical competencies as a result of the implementation and transfer of the training programme. The teaching philosophy is described in different ways, but overall it considers teaching an act of disciplinary knowledge transfer based on students’ interests, skills and attitudes, and with a heavy emphasis on building students’ core values. Interviews reveal changes in the participants’ learning and competencies due to the training, along with a positive impact on the teachers’ lesson planning and assessment strategies and students’ feedback and the willingness to engage in more reflexive teaching practice.

This paper is aimed to assess the contribution of Zakat in boosting Islamic banks’ financing and economic growth for the period 2011-2015, in 10 district/city of West Java Province, Indonesia. Through Vector Autoregressive (VAR) panel co-integration analysis, variance decompositions (VD) and impulse response functions (IRF), this study investigates Zakat, Islamic Banking, and economic growth nexus. Findings in this research highlight that Zakat has a significant impact on Islamic banking, so this institution would contribute to economic growth both in the short and the long run, with fluctuation in variance from the first year. The results lend support to the view that Zakat not only leads to social benefits but also has a positive impact on the economy through increasing Islamic banks’ financing. Therefore, this research will serve as a motivation for the industry players and regulators to continuously promote Zakat as a strategic policy. The originality of this research is to assess Zakat-led growth and finance by analyzing the impact of Zakat on the Islamic banking and regional economic outcome. According to the literature of corporate governance, ownership structure is advanced as a non-dissociable mechanism of control intended to follow the stakeholders and especially used by shareholders to monitor the conflicts of interest and the opportunistic behavior of managers. Several previous studies have focused on the impact of ownership structure on financial performance separately in conventional or in Islamic banks. However, the comparative studies between these two impacts are non-existent. In this research, we compared the impacts of this governance mechanism on the financial performance in the two types of banks by using the Ordinary Least Squares method. Data relating to financial performance and ownership structure of banks come from 16 countries. Two samples were collected: the first one included 63 conventional banks, whereas the second one integrated 63 Islamic banks whose data are available over the period (2010-2018). Panel results showed that partial effect of each determinant of ownership structure on each measure of financial performance varied from one banks’ type to another and from one performance measure to another. Besides, the reconciliation of similar models revealed many differences between the same impacts’ signs. Therefore, we concluded that in both banks’ types the ownership structure has a positive impact on the financial performance. While, the negative part of the same impact is less significant in Islamic banks. JEL Classification:  F33, G20, G21, G24, G30.

The descriptive analytical approach was adopted in the completion of this research, and it included answering the questions related to the research problem by testing two main hypotheses, with regard to correlation and influence relations. The General Battery Industry / Babel 1 Factory in Baghdad, and the statistical program (SPSS.V.23) was used to extract the results. This research reached a set of conclusions regarding environmental policy, the most prominent of which is that it has a continuous and effective positive impact that occurs due to internal and external environmental factors in achieving sustainability, which was represented by the validity of the two hypotheses of the research with the existence of a link and impact of environmental policy on sustainability. <p>This study aims to investigate the impact of applying the electronic cheque clearing system on employees’ satisfaction in Accounting Departments’ of Jordanian Islamic banks. The population of this study was the employees who work at the Accounting Departments. A random sample of (150) employees who work in Accounting departments, particularly clearing directory in the Islamic Banks in Jordan were chosen to be the sample of the study. One hundred and fifty questionnaires were distributed to the employees who work in clearing directory and those who worked in this directory in the Islamic Banks in Jordan. The results indicate that there is a weak impact of the independent variable the applying ECC system (Reliability, Responsiveness, Tangibility and Privacy) on the dependent variable (Employees’ Satisfaction) in Jordanian Islamic banks. Against expectation, the results show that only Tangibility has a positive and significant relationship with ‘Employees’ Satisfaction. This study investigates the impact of strategic notetaking on English as Foreign Language (EFL) learners’ academic performance among university students in Jordan. Thus, we hypothesized that there is a significant and positive impact of strategic note-taking on EFL learners’ academic performance. To confirm this hypothesis, descriptive research design was applied in this study. 384 (three hundred and eighty-four) respondents were randomly selected from the four public universities in Jordan. This study adapted instruments which include strategic note taking and students’ academic performance measurement items and the data obtained was analysed through Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS-22). The result showed that the strategic note taking (i.e. independent variable) has significant effects on EFL learners’ academic performance (R2 =.919). Moreover, the strategic notetaking made the significant contribution (Beta= .449; t= 18.714; P <0.05) to the prediction of EFL learners’ academic performance. In line with the findings, this study emphasised and explained the impact of strategic notetaking and how to improve EFL learners’ level of notetaking for better academic performance in Jordan.
