Korean immigrants have continued to form Protestant churches in the US and to contribute to overseas missions. As the American-born second generation grows, however, ethnic congregations of Koreans are experiencing generational struggles. These new challenges represent the potential for Korean American churches to broaden their missionary perspective and empower their missionary practices. Through gathering and witnessing with the second generation, immigrant churches can transform their churches into missionary communities that evangelize and cooperate with other Asian Americans. Second-generation Christians can also lead the immigrant churches to reach other ethnic groups in the US beyond their Korean enclaves.

Special economic zones (SEZs) are widely used across most developing and many developed economies. According to UNCTAD’s new SEZ database, there are nearly 5,400 zones across 147 economies as of 2019, up from about 4,000 five years ago. Although the performance of many zones remains below expectations, the rate of establishment of new zones is accelerating, and more than 500 new SEZs are already in the pipeline. In building new zones and revitalizing existing ones, policymakers and zone developers face new challenges in the context of a rapidly evolving global competitive landscape and the sustainable development imperative. This chapter provides an overview of the universe of SEZs and discusses their economic, social, and environmental impact—proposing an SEZ Sustainable Development Profit and Loss Statement. It highlights three key emerging challenges, points to five routes to modernizing SEZs, and outlines a pioneering idea of SDG model zones.

New challenges and the state of development of COVID-19 in connection with the spread of new strains of SARS-CoV-2 have been analyzed. Experience and knowledge in working with new means of protection of different types of vaccines are studied: both classic, based on inactivated virus or its fragment, and the new generation – with vector and genetic mRNA vaccines, as well as effective antiviral drugs. Biorisks and compliance with biosafety principles have been studied. The replenishment of the base of competencies for biotechnologists and pharmacists in the context of distance learning and response to the pandemic is considered. The new data were used to introduce and deepen knowledge about the new generation of vaccines and the dangers of dual use of experimental data in the development of new components of educational programs in "Biotechnology and Bioengineering" and “Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy”.

Abstract The primary goal of an advanced degree program is to educate and train the next generation of professionals. The education process must include historical exposure to past challenges and resolutions to enhance the development of creative thinking and problem solving skills. If this is not done, the resolution of recurring and new challenges will be minimal. Blind acceptance of “gold standards,” or the development of research techniques that are not economically based, minimize the progress is gained in each new generation. Just as medical colleges have adapted to the Millennial generation of students, a new generation is poised to enter as matriculants. The paper analyses how the urban parks can be more adaptive for situation of pandemic. In the era of Covid-19 we are faced new challenges. Weaknesses were and are evident in everyday life also now. Moscow is the largest city in the world situated so far from equator, its agglomeration has a population of 17,2 million people. During the period of pandemic in Moscow from 2nd of April 2020 55 city parks, estates and recreation areas were closed for visits. The paper discusses how we can change and what we need to change in green infrastructure of urban parks to have healthy accessible territories for citizens also at-risk situation. Should parks be closed during mass infections? What the parks should be like during the period of mass infectious diseases? Which new strategic values can be introduced for development urban green environment of the new generation? Which changes have to be done for urban planning in general, considering innovative approaches?

Bioart and biomedical art are blossoming fields, with a whole new generation of artists, the DIYbio movement enabling more people to get involved, and discoveries in bioscience bringing in new challenges. Supported by the Creative Europe program of the European Commission Trust Me, I’m an Artist is a project initiated by artist Anna Dumitriu and ethicist Bobbie Farsides to provide a platform for discussing bioart and ethics, sharing knowledge and building capacity. We have already entered into the so called VUCA World, a world of tumult, new technologies, and a new generation of employees. HR departments need to revise their mission, vision, strategies, and tools to answer to these new challenges. The main aim of this chapter is to evaluate, through an in-depth bibliographical analysis and an Italian case study, how HR departments can be supported in their strategic reflection by using a structured approach to becoming more effective in this VUCA World. Moreover, the chapter contributes to making HR managers and HR professionals aware of the HR Strategic Forum, a method that could help them to define in a shared way what the main pillars of the HR function are. These mainstays should never be forgotten, especially in times of constant change, such as the ones we are currently experiencing.
