Este trabajo expone los resultados de un estudio piloto, que tiene como objetivos el análisis de las páginas web de ámbito nacional que ofrecen información sobre adicciones y por otro lado, el estudio de los patrones de uso de estas páginas, por parte de los internautas a través del cuestionario INDEXA. Se han analizado hasta el momento 203 recursos web españoles en materia de adicciones y se ha encuestado a 394 sujetos (pertenecientes a población universitaria) sobre sus hábitos en el uso de Internet como fuente de información sobre adicciones. Los resultados indican que la mayor parte de recursos web en adicciones pertenecen al ámbito asociativo (33%), con un enfoque centrado en el tratamiento (22%) y un abordaje generalista cuando se trata de ofrecer información sobre sustancias adictivas o adicciones. Las sustancias más tratadas en los contenidos de las webs son el tabaco (41%) y el alcohol (38%). Los resultados del cuestionario INDEXA muestran que el 84% de los internautas encuestados se consideraban bien informados sobre adicciones y el 64% había buscado o recibido información sobre el tema en el último año. El nivel de satisfacción con las webs sobre adicciones es bueno (67%) y sus consultas se centran en la búsqueda de información sobre una sustancia en concreto, que suele ser el alcohol (15%) seguido a más distancia del cannabis (13,18%) y el tabaco (11%).  Abstract This paper shows the results of a pilot study on the analysis of web pages in Spain containing information about addictions. We also analyze in which ways internet users utilize such pages through the test INDEXA. We have analyzed, so far, 203 Spanish web resources on addictions and surveyed 294 university students about their usage of the Internet for informational purposes on addictions. Results indicate that the most part of web resources in addictions belong to associations (33%), with an approach centered in the treatment (22%) and a general approach when one is to offer information on addictive substances or addictions. The most mentioned substances in the contents of websites are the tobacco (41%) and the alcohol (38%). Results of the questionnaire INDEXA show that 84% of internet users were considered well informed on addictions and 64% had looked for or received information on the topic in the latest year. The level of satisfaction with websites on addictions is good (67%) their questions concentrate in the information search on a substance in particular, that usually is the alcohol (15%) followed more distance of the cannabis (13.18%) and the tobacco (11%).

This article describes how search engine optimization(SEO) is becoming an increasing useful technique in online marketing as more people look to the internet to search for information. Search Engine Optimization enables web developers to develop web pages which have a high SERP rankings. A key technique in SEO is through improving the keyword prominence of keywords. In this research, keywords within web pages are extracted, and the correlation between the frequency of these words and their keyword prominence is evaluated. The findings of this research will provide a guideline to SEO practitioners, in that they will have a better understanding of the ratio of keywords they need in to add to web pages in relation to the rest of the content.

This study investigates customer satisfaction based on a typology of consumer search behavior. The findings demonstrate that the type of consumer as defined by whether and how they search for information (passive, rational-active, and relational-dependent) has different level of satisfaction. Rational-active and relational-dependent consumers are found to be the dominant consumer types who actively search for information before purchasing a product and thus perceive a higher level of satisfaction than do passive consumers. The identification of satisfaction within each type of consumer provides a reason for customers to repurchase the same product, or recommend it to other people. As a result, companies will be able to achieve an increase in profitability. Recommendations for companies and future research directions are presented.

Background and aim: The internet is a worldwide area network that connects computer system throughout the world providing a variety of information and communication. Internet addiction is defined as any online-related, compulsive behavior which interferes with normal living and causes severe stress on family, friends, loved ones, and one's work environment. Aim: This study assessed the internet usage and its addiction level among university students in a selected university in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirate. University students are highly predisposed to internet addiction which can affect their personal, family, educational, interactive and societal life. Study design: A cross-sectional design .The sample of the study consisted of 110 nursing students who were selected using convenient sample. Internet addiction test, internet usage questionnaire and student attitude scale were used as data collection instruments.Results: The findings showed that more than half (50.9%) of students were aged 21-<25 years, with more than two- fifth (45.5% of them being average online internet user. Less than two-third (62.7%) of students had favorable attitude towards internet usage. There is a positive correlation between internet addiction score and age of the study group with no statistically significant differenceConclusions: the study concluded that nursing students are average internet users, they have favorable attitude to internet use, with positive correlation between internet addiction score and age, though experiencing occasional problems. The use of social networking sites, especially by the young people, should be done sparingly so as not to provoke extreme behaviors and negative impact to their education performance and social life that can lead to destruction of the life of youths globally as revealed in this study Internet addiction is a serious problem among university students generally which indicates the need for more public attention and resources to develop effective prevention/intervention strategies.

Abstract Background: The internet itself is a harmless technology. However, its overuse and misuse will expose its users to internet addiction. On the other hand, diagnosis of students’mental dysfunction is of prime importance, and their progress and academic success in the future can be prevented by this technology if not properly handled. Methods: In this descriptive and correlational study, the statistical population consisted of all students at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, of which 447 students studying in the first and second semesters of the academic year 2017-18 were selected through Cochran's Sample Size Formula and Stratified Random Sampling. As for data collection, the Young's Internet addiction Test (IAT) and Goldberg General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) were utilized. Moreover, for data analysis, the descriptive statistics (percentage, mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (T-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis) were employed in the environment of SPSS Statistical Software Version 23.0. Results: The results of the present study demonstrated that the total mean score of students’ internet addiction and mental health measured 3.81±0.88 and 2.56±0.33, respectively. The results also indicated that internet addiction correlared positively with depression whereas negatively with mental health (P<0.001). Besides, the results of multiple regression analysis revealed that the five major predictors of vulnerability to internet addictionin university students were as follows: the key reason for using the internet, faculty, depression, the main place for using the internet, and somatic symptoms. Conclusions: According to the findings of the present study, it can be concluded that students’ excessive use of the internet leads to depression, anxiety, and reduced mental health, thereby affecting their academic performance. Hence, it is suggested that further monitoring and control be exercised on how the internet is used by university students, and they should be informed of the detrimental effects of this technology in the case of misuse or overuse.

Internet addiction (IA) and cyberbullying (CB) represent two examples of dysfunctional Internet use (DIU) which are accompanied by negative consequences. In terms of prevention, the training of technical and reflective skills (Internet literacy) will be discussed with regard to these patterns. This study investigates the role of age, conscientiousness, and Internet literacy on IA symptoms and the participation in CB. Analyses reveal that positive attitudes towards online production and interaction and lower self-regulative skills can be associated with severe IA symptoms. Cyberbullies display less skills in reflecting on Internet content and also prove to have less self-regulative skills. Younger and less conscientious individuals are more likely to use the Internet dysfunctionally. Furthermore, significant correlations between experiences as a cyberbully and IA symptoms were found. In conclusion, the authors suggest that current media/Internet literacy curricula should be complemented by teaching reflective and regulative skills to prevent Internet users from negative consequences.

This study examines the possible disconnect between student concerns about privacy when using the Internet and their behavior. The literature indicates that Internet users are concerned about privacy but their web-browsing habits consistently put their privacy at risk. Browsing habits were examined using five factors: (1) privacy concerns, (2) self-efficacy, (3) risk assessment, (4) threat assessment, and (5) privacy involvement. These factors were analyzed for their relationship to privacy behavior. A survey questionnaire was developed and administered to a sample drawn from university students.

The aim of this study is to explore to what degree hyperlinked external resources contribute to the automated subject-related term indexing. Empirical evidence shows no additional enhancement of performance with the additional resources. It also implies that target Web pages are closer in subject to siting pages than sited pages.L’objectif de cette étude est d’explorer à quel degré les ressources hypertextes externes contribuent à l’indexation automatique par sujet. L’observation empirique ne montre aucune amélioration additionnelle de la performance avec les ressources supplémentaires. Ceci implique également que le sujet des pages web ciblées se rapproche davantage du sujet des pages web sélectionnant que des pages web sélectionnées.

Introduction: Internet addiction is an increasingly worrying phenomena affecting people globally especially the youths. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of internet addiction among undergraduate students in a Malaysian public university and its associated factors. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 322 undergraduate students, identified through cluster sampling was conducted using a pretested, self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire includes socio-demography, use of information technology gadgets and internet usage. Internet Addiction test (IAT) was used to identify internet addiction. Data was analysed using SPSS version 22. Results: From 322 respondents, 25 (7.8%) were categorised as addictive internet users, while 182 (56.5%) were problematic internet users. The commonest online activity includes social networking (86.6%), entertainment (77.3%) and educational purposes (77.0%). From multivariate analysis, problematic and addictive internet use was significantly more common among male students (AOR=2.47, 95% CI [1.43, 4.26]), those who received study loan (AOR=1.93, 95% CI [1.10, 3.39]) and other types of funding (AOR=3.95, 95% CI [1.59, 9.80]) compared to those on scholarships, and those who spent between four to ten hours a day accessing the Internet (AOR=2.43, 95% CI [1.13, 5.23]) compared to those using the Internet for two hours or less a day. Conclusion: The prevalence of problematic and addictive internet use among respondents were higher compared to previous researches among Malaysian adolescents. It is recommended that an awareness programme on responsible use of the internet be conducted to prevent students from becoming addicted which may impact negatively on their educational performance and social life.

Internet addiction is an important problem especially for the younger generation in today's technology. This study is to investigate internet addiction among vocational students in Çanakkale. Without using the sample selection, 266 students, who were at school at the time of the study and agreed to participate in the study, were included in the study. The data were collected by using the Form of Socio-Demographic Characteristics and Internet Addiction Test. 68.8% of the students connected to the internet via their mobile phones.  69.6% of them use the internet every day. They connected to the internet for averagely 8.2±7.2 hours. 54.5% of the students were normal internet users, 42.1% were risky internet users and 3.4% were internet addicted.Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.Özetİnternet bağımlılığı, günümüz teknolojisinde özellikle genç nesil için önemli bir sorundur. Bu araştırmada Çanakkale'de bir meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin internet bağımlılığı durumu incelenmiştir. Örneklem seçimine gidilmeden, araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 266 öğrenci çalışma kapsamına alınmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında sosyo-demografik özellikler formu ve internet bağımlılık ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin %68,8’i internete cep telefonlarından bağlanmaktadırlar. Öğrencilerin %69,6'sının interneti her gün kullandığı görülmektedir. Günde ortalama 8,2±7,2 saat internet kullanmaktadırlar. Öğrencilerin %54,5'inin normal internet kullanıcısı, %42.1'inin riskli internet kullanıcısı, %3.4 ünün ise bağımlı internet kullanıcısı olduğu saptanmıştır.
