The research was conducted to analyze the determinants of agriculture as a degree choice among senior high school students in Bukidnon, Philippines. Specifically, this aimed to describe the personal and non-personal factors of the senior high school students examine the guiding principles of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) curriculum in preparing students in choosing agriculture as a degree and analyze the determinants of choosing agriculture as a degree. Data were gathered through guided interview personally administered to 383 Grade 12 senior high school students in DepEd, District of Bukidnon. Focus group discussion and key informant interview were used. Descriptive statistical, Chi square and logit regression analysis were used to analyzethe determinants of agriculture as a career choice.Findings shows that the respondents are young, mostly female, and have experiences in farming, do not own a piece of land used in agriculture, willing to engage in agriculture but are not willing to enroll in an agriculture degree. Therefore, respondents who will pursue agriculture as a degreeare males and have land used for agriculture, farming experience, and a brother who is working in agriculture-related field. They are individuals who decide on their own degree, influenced by their mothers occupation and their family in decision-making. All the guidelines used by Maredia (2007) are complied by the college in the continuous development of the BS Agriculture degree program. Only the Innovativeness principle does not exist in the college. It does not yet offer distance and open access education but a six-month distance learning program for agriculture professionals may be offered. In order to attract the interest of the youth in agriculture degree, interventions must such as scholarship grants, linkages with private and other industries for on the job trainings and employment, loan system for entrepreneurial purposes of graduates.

The study investigated the influence of journal writing on the senior high school students’ attitude toward mathematics. A mixed-method approach, particularly the convergent parallel design, was used in this study. Using Scale on Attitude Toward Mathematics (SATM) (Guce & Talens, 2013), the students’ attitude toward the subject was measured in four subscales—liking or disliking mathematics, tendency to engage in or avoid mathematical activities, belief that one is good or bad in mathematics and belief that mathematics is useful or useless. Using focus group discussion, the insights of the students on journal writing as a mathematics class activity were gathered. Results using quantitative data revealed positive significant differences in the attitude of the respondents in terms of (i) liking mathematics and (ii) having the tendency to engage in mathematical activities. This aligned with the result in the focus group discussion which suggested that students perceive journal writing as a helpful tool for them to enjoy mathematics and engage in it. The activity, thus, may be regarded as a means to improve students’ attitude toward mathematics.

OF A DETECTING INSTRUMENT CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM MISCONCEPTION OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS Abstract This research is aimed at developing a product in the form of a Chemical Equilibrium Misconception Detecting Instrument or IPMKK for Grade XI senior high school students to investigate the quality of IPMKK based on the expert judgment using the Focus Group Discussion (FGD), continued with an analysis using the three-parameter Item Response Theory (IRT) and the feasibility of IPMKK imple-mentation in the field. This research was a research and development study using the procedural model, adapted from Borg & Gall model. The development of the product began by conducting the needs assessment and the literature review to choose a  chemical equilibrium and multiple choice test with half-open reason as the instrument to be developed. Findings suggest that this research succeeds in developing a Chemical Equilibrium Misconception Detecting Instrument (IPMKK) for Grade XI senior high school students. The feasibility test suggests that Senior High School chemistry teachers do not have difficulty in implementing the instrument and can conduct the data analysis easily. The implementation of the instrument in the DIY province detected that there was M1i-1 chemistry misconception by 13.84% Mi-1 and Mi-2 by 18.43%.Keywords: instrument development, misconception, chemical equilibrium

The course Introduction to Philosophy of the Human Person is relatively new. Unlike other courses in the fields of Humanities, Sciences, and Mathematics which were also offered in the Senior High School Program, no formal research has been made in order to fortify or assess its utility and efficacy. Truly, the implementation of the Senior High School in June 2016 brought an utter change in the Philippine educational system. It was also expected that problems and issues arose from it. Thus, this study aimed to know the perceptions of nine (9) Senior High School students and two (2) Senior High School teachers on the course Introduction to Philosophy of the Human Person. The participants were selected through quota sampling. Their personal experiences and point of views on the course are of great importance in this study. So, to deeply extract the data, the researcher used a qualitative-phenomenological design. Personal interview and focus group discussion were the means to get the data from the participants. The findings include: (a) Good implications of the subject; (b) Issues raised by the teachers; (c) and problems encountered by students and teachers. Hence, the students and teachers in this study did find good implications, issues, and problems in the course Introduction to Philosophy of the Human Person.

The study deals with the developing interactive media for senior high school students. The objective of this study is to find out how to develop interactive media for better speaking skill of senior high school students. The research was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D). The subject of this research was 2016/2017 students of the eleventh grade of Class XI IPA4 in SMAN 1 Batang Kuis. The number of the students was 30 students. The data of this study was collected by using need analysis questionnaire and experts’ judgment. Need analysis questionnaire was calculated by using percentage to get the information of students’ need before developing interactive media. Experts’ judgment was calculated by using likert data, mean and criteria interval of expert judgment to know the validity of interactive media which has been developed. After the data analyzed, it was found that the experts’ judgment result was 4.80 which had a very good criteria interval. The result of the research find that interactive media is a very good to be used in teaching speaking skill.
