The main purpose of this research is to study the impact of corporate governance on the financial performance of the banking sector in Kosovo. To analyze this impact, the Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple regression analysis related to the board size and board independence and banking sector performance in Kosovo were applied. The key corporate governance variables that have been studied in this research are: (i) size of the board of directors, (ii) the independence of the board of directors (the ratio between non-executive directors and the total number of board members). The data for this research were collected from the annual reports and audited financial statements of commercial banks in Kosovo for the 12 year period (2006-2017) and from questionnaires addressed to board members of commercial banks in Kosovo as well as other publications from relevant local institutions such as the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK), Statistical Office of Kosovo (SOK), Tax Administration of Kosovo (TAK), etc. The results of the multiple regression analysis regarding the influence of the board of directors on the financial performance of the banking sector indicate that: the size of the board of directors and the independence of the board of directors have a positive and significant impact on the financial performance of the banking sector in Kosovo, expressed through return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). Findings of this research are in line with the findings of other researchers in this field and confirm the assertion that the management of the above variables improves and has a positive impact on the financial performance of banks in Kosovo.

Current banking sector’s performance raises the issues connected with the IFRS 9 Financial Instruments driven transformation of the forecast assessment for the expected credit losses during monitoring and credit risk assessment in commercial banks. In this regard, it becomes important to conduct a comprehensive systematization of the existing Russian and international practices for monitoring and evaluating credit risk in commercial banks. The purpose of the study is to develop a comprehensive approach to the use of an effective model for the impairment of expected losses in banking activities. The novelty of the study includes the enhancement of the tools for the forecast assessment of the expected credit losses among the commercial banks’ clients to improve the credit risk management efficiency. The results from the implementation of IFRS 9 Financial Instruments in the banking area show that modern conditions maintain the uncertainty of the long-term impact of the credit risk on the commercial banks’ performance. What is more, a huge amount of additional information gives significant difficulties, which contributes into the sophisticated calculations of the future credit losses of the banks. It has been justified that a forecast assessment model for the expected credit losses of the clients during the monitoring and bank’s credit risk assessment should be based on the collective or individual ground. The efficient application of the expected losses impairment in the banking performance has been described as a fundamental tool to simulate the expected credit losses to provision for impairment. This model has been shown to be determined by the features of the credit activities and bank portfolio, types of its financial tools, sources of the available information, as well as the applied IT systems. The proposed model validation algorithm for the expected impairment losses could reduce the expected credit losses, decrease the volume of the created assessed reserves, as well as improve the overall commercial bank performance efficiency. Theoretically, the study develops the credit losses risk management in the context of the transformations in the global and Russian banking practices. From the perspective of the practical value, the research gives an opportunity to create an efficient forecast assessment model for the expected credit losses of the commercial banks’ clients, this model contributing into the cost effectiveness of the bank’s credit activities. A promising further research is considered to be aimed at developing the tools for the assessment of the commercial banks’ credit activity results in the context of the adopted changes connected with the introduction of IFRS 9 Financial Instruments in the Russian banking sector.

This article examines the characteristics of internet that motivate faculty members of Imam Muhammad Bin Saud University (IMSU) in Saudi Arabia to utilize the Internet in their research and instructional activities. The framework of the study was the attributes of innovations offered by Rogers. A modified instrument was adopted to collect the data and measure the attributes. The result revealed that the majority of IMSU faulty members used the Internet for research and academic activities twice a month or less, indicating a low Internet adoption rate. Multiple regression analysis showed that all attributes of innovation individually predicted Internet adoption. The combination of all attributes indicated the model could predict Internet adoption among faculty.

Factors behind the nonchalant attitude towards entrepreneurship by the potential entrepreneur youth need to be identified and their influence remedied. This descriptive and co-relational study analyzed the socio-economic factors determining attitude towards entrepreneurship among graduates in Botswana. A valid and reliable questionnaire was used for data collection through a survey of 149 (n=149) randomly sampled graduates in Botswana. Data was analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistical tools of mean, frequency, independent t-test, one way analysis of variance and multiple regression analysis. Descriptive statistics indicated that the students would like to pursue their future career as entrepreneurs but opposite to the student career ambition, the parents want their children to become future professionals. Findings revealed that eight socio-economic factors namely; gender, program of study, year of study, mothers’ education level, mothers’ profession, family income level and students career ambition after completion of degree program and parents career ambition after completion of degree program have significant influence on the students’ attitude towards entrepreneurship. Multiple regression analysis indicated that the socio-economic factors are significant predictors of students’ attitude towards entrepreneurship. Furthermore, mothers’ education level was the top significant socio-economic factor predicting the students’ attitude followed by students’ career ambition after completion of the program, the year of study and the program of study. Further research can be conducted to investigate the reasons for gender difference in students’ attitude towards entrepreneurship and, reasons for contradicting career ambitions of the students and their parents.

Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. When the banks were compared, Ghana Commercial Bank Limited was found to be more liquid than Zenith Bank Limited. That of Zenith bank was also higher than UT bank and Ecobank Plc .However, profitability indicators showed that Zenith Bank Limited and Ecobank Plc utilised its assets better than Ghana Commercial Bank Limited and UT bank resulting in the two banks higher scores over the period. The findings show further that Ghana Commercial Bank Limited showed higher ratios for investment in the future while Zenith Bank Limited showed higher ratios of higher dividend immediately. However, Zenith Bank Limited capital adequacy level was far higher than the legal requirement of Banking sector while its counterparts fell slightly below it in terms of average. Based on the main findings and conclusions, it is recommended that Ghana Commercial Bank Limited should find a means of reducing its expenditure, introducing prudent assets management, should be cautious when assisting government in time of economic difficulty, and operate as an independent entity.
