DL), which has resulted in an unprecedented experiment in the sphere of higher education in Ukraine that requires scientific analysis. The aim of the work was to identify the possible potential directions of DL development in institutions of higher education as a result of marketing research of satisfaction/dissatisfaction of students with DL. The survey method was used in the study. The results of marketing research (an online survey of students) (Kharkiv, 2020, n = 316) allowed the authors to identify the factors of satisfaction and dissatisfaction of students with DL. Students considered the most important factors of satisfaction with DL as follows: development of competencies, self-organization, discipline, self-motivation, responsibility, taking an active position as participants of the educational process, comfort. Students expect that lectures secure improvement of teacher-student communication process; flexibility of educational approaches; use of interactive tools and constant change of activities to maintain the attention, interest, concentration of students on studying process. The latter will maximize students’ involvement in activities during training; improvement of digital competencies. The students` expectations are: flexibility of the DL platforms compared to full-time in-person education; creation of the “map” of the educational process in a distance mode. It is noted that the results of marketing research (the online survey) demonstrated the factors of satisfaction and dissatisfaction of students with DL. This information was considered as the arguments for identifying the possible potential directions of DL development in higher education institutions.

Online education is no longer a peripheral phenomenon in higher education: over one-third of faculty have taught or developed an online course. As institutions of higher education expand their online education offerings, administrators need to recognize that supporting faculty through the use of incentives and through effective faculty development programs for online instruction is important to the improvement of the quality of educational programs. This quantitative study used an online survey to investigate the types and frequency of faculty development programs for online instruction at institutions with an established teaching and learning development unit (TLDU). The average TLDU offered about fifteen different types of faculty development programs, the most common being websites, technical services, printed materials, and consultation with instructional design experts.

Both the authors’ previous experience and the devoted literature highlight the particular role of teacher-student communication for the quality of graduates’ professional development and education. The research presented herein is based on a sociological survey conducted in a large university from north-west Romania, on more than 600 Economics Master’s students.The chief goal of our research is to determine efficient ways to improve the student training provided by the master programmes in Economics, by means of a better stimulation on the part of the teachers, a more efficient teacher – student communication, a better quality of the teaching materials employed and a greater relevance of the educational content for the particular area of specialisation pursued.After an initial review of the material resulted from the sociological survey, we continued to analyse the results in relation to the tiers of the communication process, the role of groups in the learning process and of the education process in the development of emotional intelligence.Within the current phase of our study, the underlying hypotheses are:(1) The training of Economics and Business Administration students provides them with opportunities of professional specialisation, while developing skills and abilities useful in everyday life.(2) The students’ training in Economics also entails an implicit educational process, which supports the development of their emotional intelligence.(3) Multiculturalism bears manifold benefits, both in terms of specialist professional training and on graduates’ attitudes and behaviour in the social life.This study allowed us to validate the hypotheses and to draw some interesting conclusions for the education of students enrolled in the university surveyed.

The relevance of the chosen topic is determined by the importance of interaction between teachers and students in modern higher education, as well as the need to cover the psychological features of such interaction from the point of view of developing a qualitative assessment of their role and place in the educational process of a higher educational institution. The purpose of the study is to formulate psychological aspects of “teacher-student” communication within the educational space to identify methods of its regulation. The leading approach of the research is a combination of theoretical analysis of the main aspects of pedagogical interaction between teachers and students in an educational institution taking into account the main functions and tasks of each of the groups under consideration and structural synthesis of the features of this type of interaction based on psychological factors of communication on the scale of a higher educational institution. The research considers issues related to the psychological features of pedagogical interaction between teachers and students in modern higher education. Qualitative indicators of communicative relations of subjects of the educational process, in particular teachers and students, are determined. The key psychological features of pedagogical interaction in the “teacherstudent” system are highlighted, including the development of trust in the authority of the teacher, taking into account students' individual factors in the process of studying subjects within the programme, maintaining a positive psychological climate in subject-subject relations. The necessity of developing a qualitative assessment of the level of communication between teachers and students as an objective factor for further assessment of the overall level of their pedagogical interaction effectiveness and the psychological characteristics of each of the groups under consideration is emphasised. The results and conclusions of the research are of practical value both for modern applicants for higher education and for representatives of the teaching staff of modern higher educational institutions concerned with the problems of building high-quality communication among each other, taking into account the individual characteristics and qualities of each group

The article discloses the real state and prospects of the education of culture of communication of doctoral candidates for higher education in the educational process of an institution of higher education, which is considered as an integral part of the overall process of professional development of a future specialist. The results of the research of real state of students' culture of communication on the basis of cognitive, motivational and activity criteria are presented. The pedagogical conditions of education of communication culture of an institution of students of higher education are suggested. The stages of the implementation of pedagogical conditions are presented: adaptational, basic, advanced, which are designed to form knowledge of the characteristics of the communication process, skills and abilities of adequate communicative behavior in various situations of verbal and non-verbal communication.

The article examines the stages of implementation of the main aspects of university autonomy, in particular the organization of student governance in domestic higher education institutions. It is necessary to realize that the creation of effective student government is a key condition for building a domestic system of higher education in accordance with the best practices of the European educational space. It is determined that in the process of restructuring higher education through the formation of university autonomy, students should be considered as a full partner in the process of modernization of the domestic higher education system. It is established that the work of student government should significantly expand its scope and be more active in developing key issues of organization and content of university education. The main points of formation of student self-governance in Ukrainian HEIs are determined and a comparative analysis of the key principles under which European universities operate is carried out. The authors analyzed the Law of Ukraine «On Higher Education», in particular in terms of organizing the work of student government. The main issues of student self-governance, which are reflected in the statutes of higher education institutions, are summarized. The article shows the results of the study conducted during the research «Implementation of university autonomy in the context of decentralization of HEIs, the democratization of the educational process, increasing responsibility for the quality of education». The stance of the students to the process of the autonomy of educational institutions in general is studied. The information on the respondents’ awareness of the regulatory framework is summarized. The degree of activity of student self-government bodies in solving issues of improving the educational process is analyzed. The proposals of the participants of the online survey on the next stages of activity for the successful implementation of university autonomy have been studied.

The research focuses on identifying the way in which Romanian universities managed to provide knowledge during the Coronavirus pandemic, when, in a very short time, universities had to adapt the educational process for exclusively online teaching and learning. In this regard, we analyzed students’ perception regarding online learning, their capacity to assimilate information, and the use of E-learning platforms. An online survey based on a semi-structured questionnaire was conducted. Data was collected from 762 students from two of the largest Romanian universities. The results of the research revealed that higher education institutions in Romania were not prepared for exclusively online learning. Thus, the advantages of online learning identified in other studies seem to diminish in value, while disadvantages become more prominent. The hierarchy of problems that arise in online learning changes in the context of the crisis caused by the pandemic. Technical issues are the most important, followed by teachers’ lack of technical skills and their teaching style improperly adapted to the online environment. However, the last place was assigned by students to the lack of interaction with teachers or poor communication with them. Based on these findings, research implications for universities and researchers are discussed.

This study aims to examine the effect of employee empowerment, employee training and teamwork on employee motivation at Malaysian public universities. Based on the review of published literature, it is evident that there are limited studies on employee motivation in the Asian context, particularly in higher education. Therefore, this study intends to provide empirical evidence towards the link between the selected variables. The data were obtained from the participants using an online survey method from a total of 242 academic and administrative staff at public universities in the northern region of Malaysia. For ease of data collection, convenience sampling approach was adopted. The findings indicated that employee empowerment has a significant positive impact on employee motivation. The outcomes also showed that employee training and teamwork have significant positive effects on employee motivation.

Purpose – This study explored students’ perspective of using emotion-aware Vertual Learning Environment (VLE) in Malaysia’s higher education institutions. The purpose is to investigate the relationships among dimensions of Technology Readiness Index (TRI), attitude, intention to use VLE, and lecturer interaction. The outcomes concerned the emotions involved in the educational process of Malaysia’s higher education institutions. Methodology – Quantitative data were collected via an online survey from 260 students. An empirical analysis was then conducted using structural equation modelling (Smart PLS) in two phases: (1) examining the direct effect of students’ attitude on VLE adoption intention and (2) examining the indirect effect of constructs using lecturer interaction as a mediator. Findings – The findings revealed a significant mediating role of lecturer interaction on the relationship between attitude and intention to use VLE across the student cohort. Inhibitors, such as insecurity and discomfort, were less significant in affecting students’ attitude towards emotion-aware VLE. The results indicate that students are motivated to use VLE when lecturers understand their emotions and react accordingly. Significance – This is one of the studies pertaining to emotions in VLE and lecturer interaction in higher education institutions. The results facilitate an understanding of the pedagogical role of lecturer interaction as a practical learning motivation. It is of particular interest to curriculum and e-learning stakeholders looking to improve students’ interactions with the VLE systems. Apart from extending the current literature, this study has significant practical implications for education management in higher learning institutions. The digitalization of the education system imposes certain circumstances not only on the organization of the educational process and the training of specialists in demand in the modern world, but also on the skills of a teacher in the field of information and communication technologies. Within the framework of this article, an analysis of Russian and foreign approaches to defining a set of digital competencies necessary for a modern teacher of higher education is carried out. The purpose of this study is to determine an objective diagnostic toolkit for identifying the level of digital competencies among teachers of higher institutions. Based on the analysis of Russian and foreign experience in the development of digital competence among teachers, including a higher education teacher, an internal questionnaire was developed to assess the level of formation of the necessary digital skills. Data collection was carried out through an online survey of teachers using a structured questionnaire. A survey of university teachers was conducted in order to identify the readiness to use digital technologies in the educational process. The data obtained during the survey made it possible to obtain objective information about the level of formation of digital competencies among teachers and their readiness to use digital tools and technologies in the educational process. University teachers have demonstrated high results in such competencies as the use of digital solutions for effective communication of students on academic assignments; creating your own digital resources; creation and modification of digital educational materials, inclusion of students in group work using the Internet, including online services for joint project activities; taking into account the individual characteristics and needs of students in the educational process; exchange of ideas and materials with colleagues from other educational organizations, including through cloud systems, advanced training through online training.
