The mismatch between the demand side and the supply side in the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector has been a recurring pattern for a long period of time. Unlike the other levels and types of education, over 60% of provision in the ECEC sector comes from private organizations in China. Following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, challenges have emerged in the high-level customer contact services and the classic labour-intensive industries. From the "regular epidemic prevention and control" point of view, regulatory reform is necessary, such as translating the "price cap regulation" into the "rate of return regulation", enforcing the demand side incentive, combining regulatory innovation and technical innovation, and creating good conditions for the professional development of teachers in the ECEC sector.

Taking risks and enjoying challenges are fundamental to the lives of young children from a developmental and evolutionary point of view. However, in modern societies, increasing concern about dangers and injuries has led to the escalation in regulation and provisions for the safety of young children. This intent to establish secure and risk-free environments for young children reaches, in some cases, the other end of the spectrum – that of overprotection, constraining children’s drive to explore, dare and experiment. This article explores the relationship between children and risk by focusing on the processes of thinking and acting, drawing on positive and negative discourses around risk. The article proposes that more interest should be directed towards enabling children’s own knowledge and understanding of risk, through early childhood education and risk literacy. The use of graphical representations, children’s probabilistic and possibility thinking, the risk culture of the classroom and a cross-curricular approach are pedagogical implications that could inform policy and practice in early childhood education aiming at present and future agents who are risk literate.

Findings are presented from a qualitative research study that used photo-elicitation methods to explore faculty members’ beliefs about play and learning for children in Early Childhood Education and Care environments when teaching preservice early childhood educators in recognized post-secondary Early Childhood Education programs in Canada. Participants believe that play is a vehicle for learning, advocate for children’s free play in Early Childhood Education and Care settings as well as express concerns about the decline of play in children’s lives. Implications of findings and the benefits of using images to elicit teacher beliefs in research will be discussed. Research on faculty members’ beliefs is limited and findings come at an opportune time as advocacy for play in the early years is needed.

The use of the videoconference as a resource for academic tutoring is starting to spread as a useful practice. From a pedagogical point of view this technological innovation involves many uncertainties as regards its organization, its technology and its pedagogical features. In this paper we study this process in the Degree of early childhood education at the University of La Laguna in the academic course 2016, where two hundred students experienced the video tutorials in two subjects. We will prove how students enter university with previous experiences related to the use of videoconferences in different usage models. In this paper we reflect on decision making processes carried out in several categories. We conclude with the assessment that students have made about this experience, highlighting here the specific utility as regards the most effective type of feedback and the relational environment.

This qualitative documentary research aimed to analyze the teaching plans developed for the supervised curricular internship in child education, within the scope of Physical Education Teaching education process. The results and discussion focus on each item of the teaching plans analyzed by the theme, general and specific objective, content, strategies, spaces and material resources, evaluation and references used to make the plan. It should be mentioned that the point of view of the planning and composition of the document deals with a task that requires training, understanding of parts and purposes, mainly the ability to write what is being done. Thus, it was possible to notice more complex items such as the specifics objectives, evaluation and other less complex such as content, spaces and materials. However, it should be noted that the teaching plans make it possible to view the supervised curricular internship from the perspective of the training devices and the registration of the need for these instruments to be increasingly investigated to benefit both trainees (interns) and the teacher training course that can use them when proposing changes.
