Abstract The aim of this study was to explore through cross-sectional study the variation in the prevalence of parasitic helminths in canine faeces collected from green spaces of Buenos Aires according to the human density (HD) and economic level (EL) in the surroundings. HD and EL were considered as independent variables with three categories each. Twenty public squares (one hectare of surface) were randomly selected for each existing combination of the two independent variables. Ten random samples of fresh canine faeces were obtained in each square and analysed for helminths by the sedimentation and flotation techniques. The prevalence for each of the species was analysed using generalized linear models (GLM). The prevalence was modelled with a binomial error distribution and a logit link function. Helminth eggs were detected in 45 out of the 200 (22.5%) faecal samples collected and in 18 of the 20 green spaces sampled. The species observed were Ancylostoma caninum (13% of samples), Trichuris vulpis (8%) and Toxocara canis (4.5%). The GLM indicated that the prevalence of A. caninum in the slum areas (very high HD and very low EL) was higher than that in the other areas studied. However, the HD seemed to contribute more than the EL to the variations in the prevalence of A. caninum in faecal samples. The GLM showed no differences in the prevalence of the other parasite species for the different levels of the independent variables.

Large-scale population movements can turn local diseases into widespread epidemics. Grasping the characteristic of the population flow in the context of the COVID-19 is of great significance for providing information to epidemiology and formulating scientific and reasonable prevention and control policies. Especially in the post-COVID-19 phase, it is essential to maintain the achievement of the fight against the epidemic. Previous research focuses on flight and railway passenger travel behavior and patterns, but China also has numerous suburban residents with a not-high economic level; investigating their travel behaviors is significant for national stability. However, estimating the impacts of the COVID-19 for suburban residents’ travel behaviors remains challenging because of lacking apposite data. Here we submit bus ticketing data including approximately 26,000,000 records from April 2020–August 2020 for 2705 stations. Our results indicate that Suburban residents in Chinese Southern regions are more likely to travel by bus, and travel frequency is higher. Associated with the economic level, we find that residents in the economically developed region more likely to travel or carry out various social activities. Considering from the perspective of the traveling crowd, we find that men and young people are easier to travel by bus; however, they are exactly the main workforce. The indication of our findings is that suburban residents’ travel behavior is affected profoundly by economy and consistent with the inherent behavior patterns before the COVID-19 outbreak. We use typical regions as verification and it is indeed the case.

We consider a stochastic model of investment on an asset in a stock market for a prudent investor. she decides to buy permanent goods with a fraction α of the maximum amount of money owned in her life in order that her economic level never decreases. The optimal strategy is obtained by maximizing the exponential growth rate for a fixed α. We derive analytical expressions for the typical exponential growth rate of the capital and its fluctuations by solving an one-dimensional random walk with drift.

This research focuses on deliver a SDS implementation model that facilitate the definition of requirements to be delivered in a timely manner to systems. Software Defined Storage (SDS) enables different hardware technologies to be homogenized and deliver independent storage. The technologies included on the implementation model are the open-source projects Red Hat Gluster Storage and Red Hat Ceph Storage. Both technologies are integrated into a virtualization platform, it is compared at a functional and economic level with respect to some enterprise solutions and it is shown that the same operations are performed as a viable technological alternative. The favorable results of the model are presented and the great benefit that open-source technologies have open scope that allows it to be integrated into other projects is presented.

Purpose: The article aims to show the viability of installing a precision-based approach system in Viseu airfield, in Portugal. This work looks to evidence to what extent the implementation of ILS (Instrument Landing System) or GBAS (Ground Based Augmentation System) in the airfield is viable, and which of the two would be the better option for this case, from a technical and economic view and as a way to increase safety levels.Design/methodology/approach: The article analyses the airfield’s evolution over time and forecasts its movements for the future, over a 10-year period, by utilising two different models: multiple linear regression and IATA traffic forecasts. The different types of airfield taxes were also reviewed and their values were estimated for the following years. The equipment’s technical aspects and individual prices were analysed to accurately determine the time needed for the airfield to recover the investment done, allied with an 80% funding European project.Findings: Approach systems are being modernized, and throughout the years more airports and airfields are starting to replace old approach systems for satellite-based new ones. When compared to ILS, GBAS offers more advantages at a technical and economic level, and even for smaller airfields with a low traffic volume, sometimes it can be technically and economically possible to have such systems implemented.Originality/value: Studies about the implementation of new radio aids are usually prepared for big airports by airport operators or ANSPs before major investment projects. However, for most small regional airports in the country, where traffic is not near as big, such studies don’t exist, and for that reason, investigating the possibility of installing such kind of equipment is very important, especially taking into consideration the safety they provide and other benefits that naturally come up with it.

South Barito is an area of rattan and rattan production center of the province of Central Kalimantan, on the other hand is one area that has natural conditions very conducive to the development of rattan. This study reveals how patterns in addition to planting and processing of rattan traditionally also analyze the socio-economic level of society. Research conducted in South Barito regency, District Karau in Two Villages is Bangkuang and New Salat. The village of the second sample is determined gardens and population are farmers who cultivate cane with sampling methods by simple random sampling, because the peasant population is homogeneous, the number of samples in each village 34 respondents or 68 farmers overall. The result showed that in general the rattan garden where the studies were not well-maintained, where the average of respondents (45%) said that maintenance is only performed at the time of going to the harvesting or one for rattan planting. Besides the low price of rattan is led to a reduction of land management / rattan gardens intensively. and production of rattan average yield of 2.6 tons ha-1 or 245.5 clumps of cane ha-1. For the villagers of business administration studies despite conditions that are considered less favorable, but they still look forward to the Government's policy to remain aligned to the Farmers Rattan. In addition, because cane is inherited and used as a hallmark of South Barito society in general.
