As a social plague that has been with mankind for all time, rape has left many stereotyped, stigmatised, and sometimes, irreparably damaged. The act is an evil that defies the age, race, location, and social status of its sufferers. Despite the heavy legal penalties that this crime attracts in many parts of the world, its occurrence has, nonetheless, been on the increase. Research reveals that many rape cases go unreported by their sufferers for fear of further harm from their attackers and for fear of stigma. In Nigeria, even when they are reported to the police, the authorities do too little to bring perpetrators to justice - a misnomer that gives the rapists more impetus to repeat their act. The few of these cases that are carried by the mass media, ostensibly, project the sufferers as hopeless and pitiable individuals, whose lives are ruined. Theoretically situated within the framing ideology, this paper adopted the textual analysis method to establish that Nigerian newspapers exploit the use of headlines and photos to re-victimise raped persons in the ways they are portrayed. Rather than ameliorate the effects of the evil done to such individuals, these texts present them and their loved ones as hopeless victims. This paper holds that rapists should be portrayed as the ones needing of pity and help. Although the paper agrees that both the rapist and the raped need dissimilar psychosocial (and medical) rehabilitations, it recommends that Nigerian newspapers should deemphasise angles that throw pity parties for those affected by the incidents, while the rapists should be projected as the real victims of themselves and of their acts.

This article gives a detailed account of one of the topical issues of modern integrative linguistic stylistics, i.e., substantiation of the content of the latest concepts that are formed within the interrelated disciplines. Attention is specifically paid to the terms media stylistics, verbal and linguocultural content of the media. The author elaborates on the concept of linguocultural content of the media text interpreting it as linguistic and aesthetic signs of culture, components of linguistic and informational pictures of the world, i.e., a value-content meaning of the mass media which unfolds and concretizes the general and nationally marked concepts, and as a regular manifestation of the language norm. The data of the magazine A Woman shows that the verbal content is a significant, specific segment of the functioning of the modern Ukrainian literary language in the media space. It reflects the universal stratification of the language of national professional, social, every day, and artistic culture, the synergy of its mediatopes and media genres, broadcasts a hierarchy of social (socio-political, gender), psychological and economic stereotypes, and human needs. They are all united by the Ukrainian-centric linguocultural platform which consists of both value-semantic signs of culture and structural-level units of the literary-linguistic continuum. In terms of media stylistics, the language of Ukrainian-language media is analyzed in two complementary perspectives: 1) via metaphorical-associative field structures with specific core nominations; 2) via the principles of realization of the media structural-level norm in the mass media. Keywords: media stylistics, verbal content, linguocultural indicator of value, metaphorical-associative field, language norm, sign of culture.

In the twenty-first century, the mass media is increasingly seen as having a very pervasive influence: the extent and reach if it simply cannot be ignored. In communities large and small, and in countries all over the world, the mass media has the ability to set agendas and influence public opinion. In North America, the mass media is particularly ubiquitous; from television, to the internet, to newspapers, it has become difficult to avoid mass media products.

Kata Kunci:Dakwah Islam, Komodifikasi, Media Massa, Studi Pustaka Abstract: Islam basically is not a religion contained with textual symbols in the Koran and the Hadith only. Islam actually is a religion what cannot deny by historical, social, cultural, political, and so on. The number of adherents of Islam is never calculated as a small, because Islam is spreaded in various parts of the world, including Indonesia, Islam has become a kind of "market phenomenon".  As a consequence of ''symptoms of market'', Islam also undergoes a commodification process. Da'wah as part of religious teachings also cannot avoid by commodification, especially since the birth of various information media, including mass media. The number of da'wah programs on the mass media is the one hand adds to the transformation of Islamic values, but on the other hand it sometimes damages the image of Islam, because da'wah as a sacred part of religious toughts. Which sometimes becomes a tool for the media to achieve the majority of Indonesia's population was a Muslim. This research seeks the traces of commodification, as well as its encroachment on the religious space and the practice of da'wah, until finally trying to find common ground between commodification and da'wah it self. Keywords:Islamic Da’wah, Commodification, Mass Media, Library Study

Film is one of the mass media that influences changes in the construction of the audience's mindset. This article discusses gender that is brought back in the frame of the film "The sinking of the ship van der Wijck". The purpose of this study was to determine the gender construction displayed by the film media. This study uses a qualitative approach with media text analysis. The analysis used is the framing analysis model of William A. Gamson and Andre Modigliani, which emphasizes the media frame and package in packaging an idea. The result of this research is that gender in the film "Tenggelamnya Kapal van der Wijck" is represented by discrimination against women. The point is that women in this film in many parts are shown as oppressed and always blamed. In addition, women are given the impression of being worthless and are likened to buying and selling goods that can only be owned by those who have assets and position.

Mass media has an important role in imaging. Whether we realize it or not, the image is the result of mass media construction. The mass media can lift someone so that they become famous and supported by the community but can also bring down the person to become the most hated figure. The media constructs reality through certain points of view which are then framed or framed. In this study, the framing analysis of the Gamson and Modigliani models was used to find out how the reality or image of Edy Rahmayadi was constructed or framed by MedanBisnisdaily.com. According to Gamson, framing is a way of telling stories or clusters of organized ideas in such a way and presenting the construction of the meaning of events related to the object of a discourse. This type of research is qualitative with a constructivism paradigm. From this research, Medanbisnisdaily.com describes the image of Edy Rahmayadi as a firm, but controversial and seemingly arrogant person.
