Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan kompetensi pedagogis dan kompetensi profesional guru PPKn dengan prestasi belajar siswa di SMA Negeri se-Kota Yogyakarta. Metode penelitian ini adalah korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif.  Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui angket dan dokumentasi. Analisis data untuk pengujian hipotesis menggunakan korelasi product moment sederhana dan regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa: 1) terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kompetensi pedagogis guru PPKn dengan prestasi belajar PPKn siswa. Kekuatan hubungan menunjukkan arah kekuatan dalam kategori sangat kuat. 2) terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kompetensi profesional guru PPKn dengan prestasi belajar PPKn siswa. Kekuatan hubungan antara kedua variabel menunjukkan arah dalam kategori sangat kuat. 3) Terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan kompetensi pedagogis dan kompetensi profesional guru PPKn dengan prestasi belajar siswa.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This research was aimed at explaining the relationship between pedagogical and professional competency among PPKn teachers and students’ achievement at SMAN (State-owned Senior High Schools) in Yogyakarta city. It was a correlational study with quantitative approach. Data was analyzed statistically to test the hypotheses using product moment test. The results are follows. 1) there is a positive and significant correlation between teachers’ pedagogical competency and students’ achievement. 2) there is a positive and significant correlation between teachers’ professional competency and students’ achievement. 3) there is a positive and significant correlation between teachers’ pedagogical and professional competency and students’ achievement.

Maintaining relationship between teachers and students is one of the key issues in Education. This issue is important as the relationship affects the process as well as the results of students’ learning. It is also significant how the teachers interact with the students in the classroom. In this study we would like to see whether teachers’ attitude affects students’ perception on such a behavior. This was seen through the language that teachers use in the classroom. Some teachers tend to use face threatening acts (FTA), which cause the students feel uncomfortable, tense, and anxious (Pomerantz 1984, Beebe & Cummings 1985, Chen, 2006). As a result, the students’ learning outcomes might be affected. In some cultures, doing such a thing would be considered impolite. The study was conducted in one of the private senior high schools in Jakarta with a sample of two teachers and 50 students of Grades 10 & 11 from two EFL classrooms. The study used qualitative and quantitative approach with descriptive statistics to analyze the findings. A list of questionnaires was used along with an interview with the two teachers to clarify the results. The discussion covered several aspects regarding the existence of FTA in EFL classrooms: the kinds of threatening acts used, the patterns of the threatening acts, the factors of using threatening acts, and the students’ responses of threatening acts. The study was expected to give insights for the pre-service teachers in EFL classroom.

Desde la antropología del mundo y la filosofía hay que repensar las prácticas y cómo se articulan con narrativas, y modelos que muestren visibilidades e invisibilidades presentes en la educación superior.  La investigación se realizó con estudiantes de estadística de universidades del Departamento Norte de Santander. Objetivo: analizar la relación entre la implementación del enfoque dialógico crítico y el desarrollo del pensamiento variacional de los estudiantes.  Método: La investigación siguió un enfoque cuantitativo correlacional, de tipo campo, apoyado en un enfoque cualitativo. Resultados: Se estableció una correlación significativa entre la implementación del enfoque dialógico-crítico por parte de los profesores y la percepción de los estudiantes en su aplicación en los momentos pedagógicos, y entre metodología y desarrollo de pensamiento variacional; estadios perceptual, aprehensivo, comprensivo y evaluativo se presentan en  el logro de competencias. Method: The research was a correlational quantitative approach, field type, leaning on a qualitative approach. Results: the existence of a significant correlation between the implementation of dialogic-critical approach by teachers and students perception of their application in teaching moments was established, and correlation between methodology and development of variational thought was found; Perceptual, apprehensive, comprehensive and evaluative stages are presented in the achievement of competences. Conclusion: The critical dialogic approach affects the development of variational thinking of students. Keywords: higher education, variational thinking, statistical methodology, philosophy of science

Purpose: This study sought to identify the importance of supervision in Kuwaiti high schools from the viewpoints of heads of departments and school teachers, as well as identifying the gap between ideal and prevalent supervisory styles in Kuwaiti high schools and determining the effects of supervision on teachers’ professional performance. Methodology: The researcher took a qualitative approach, using structured interviews with a study sample represented by six heads of departments and six teachers from two high schools in Kuwait. Findings: It was found that supervision as a tool for continuous improvement in the school system positively affected the school climate. There was a gap between actual and ideal supervisory styles in the schools studied. Supervision had a positive effect on the professional performance of teachers; supervisors’ notes and observations helped teachers in identifying their shortcomings and modifying their behavior accordingly. Challenges to the effective implementation of supervision in high schools included unsuitable supervisory practices, loss of connection between the teacher and the supervisor, teacher resistance to support, and lack of meaningful feedback. Recommendations: It is necessary to employ advanced supervisory styles in order to cope with the changes in the surrounding environment. Further study will help to determine the effect of supervision on the relationship between teachers and students.

Interest is a feeling of attraction or preference for something that does not appear suddenly. The success of a learning process is often seen in students who are enthusiastic about completing given tasks and doing what they love. Students’ interest in a learning process depends on the approach and the method that the teacher provides for stimulation, one of which can be done is the storytelling method. Accordingly, this study aims to find the relationship between the storytelling method and the learning interest of early childhood. This study uses a quantitative approach. Subjects in this study were 58 teachers and students. Data collection techniques using observation and documentation, then analyzed using the product-moment correlation formula. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between the storytelling method and learning interest of early childhood, as indicated by tcount ttable (25.64 > 2.00324). It means that 25.64 ³ 2.00324 then Ho is rejected, the number 25.64 lies in the rejection area, Ha is accepted.

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between students’ personality and environment with their Indonesian Language ability. This research was conducted in South Tangerang City involving 392 2nd grade students. This research method used correlational method with quantitative approach by using descriptive statistics. Data was collected using an assessment scale instrument and analyzed by using correlation technique (regression). The results of this study showed that: (1) There was a positive relationship between personality and students’ Indonesian Language ability with a significant level of α = 0.05, obtained tcal 8.77 ˃ ttable 1.97. (2) There wasa positive relationship between the environment and the students’ Indonesian Language ability with a significant level of α = 0.05, which obtained 9.03 ˃ t table 1.97. (3) There was a positive relationship between personality and environment with the students’ Indonesian Language ability; with a significant level of α = 0.05, obtained tcal 7.92 ˃ t table 1.97. The Implications of the study identified that Indonesian Language ability of the students can be influenced by their personality and environment.
