In this paper, Augmented Reality (AR) and Videogames are presented as two technologies suitable to be applied (independently and mixed) to Climate Change issues. The article is centered on teaching-learning, sensitization and awareness campaigns about Climate Change. On one hand, Augmented Reality and some examples of Climate-Change-related applications are presented. On the other hand, videogames are presented as useful tools for learning under the philosophy of Digital Game-Based Learning (DGBL). Some principles of DGBL are discussed and some examples of videogames applied to Climate Change issues are presented. Lastly Augmented Reality games are explored and an early classification is introduced. Finally, it is concluded that videogames and Augmented Reality are two current technologies that must be applied to processes related to education on climate change due to their features and nature.

AbstractThis article analyzes the international law obligations that arise in relation to nationally determined contributions (NDCs). It argues that distinct and concurrent obligations arise from two separate sources. On the one hand, treaty obligations arise under the Paris Agreement, which imposes an obligation of conduct on parties: they must take adequate measures towards the realization of the mitigation targets contained in their NDCs. On the other hand, communications such as NDCs may constitute unilateral declarations that also create legal obligations. These unilateral declarations impose obligations of various types, which may extend beyond mitigation. For example, they may specify measures of implementation or demand the achievement of a particular result. The potential ‘double-bindingness’ of NDCs should be a central consideration in the interpretation of international law obligations regarding climate change.

This chapter scrutinizes the complex relationship between climate change and theology, as represented in First Reformed, as well as Paul Schrader’s understanding of humanity’s major problems today. Analyzing the issue of ecological decline through the prism of religion, Schrader outlines the ideology that presumably might help humanity survive at the age of global warming. Through the complex discussions of such issues as despair, anxiety, and hope, Schrader deduces the formula of survival in which preservation is the key component. Equating humans to God, Schrader, on the one hand, censures those actions that led to progress but destroyed the environment, yet, on the other hand, he foregrounds the fact that humans can also save the planet now. Schrader portrays both humans and Earth as living organisms created by God. He draws explicit parallels between the current state of our planet and the problems that we experience – from political ones, including war, to more personal ones like health issues.

Mongolia in 2020 recorded no COVID-19 deaths, despite its proximity to China, the original hotbed of the outbreak. Yet GDP and exports decreased and unemployment, poverty, crime, and domestic abuse rose, in large part due to the disease. Facing desertification, climate change, overgrazing, and mining damage to pastureland, herders who could not eke out a living continued to migrate to Ulaanbaatar, the capital city, and lived in tents, with no running water and poor sanitation. Elections for the Parliament were held, with the Mongolian People’s Party dominating, but corruption and accusations of money laundering prompted a lack of faith in the government. On the other hand, Mongolia maintained cordial relations with China and Russia, its neighbors, as well as with distant countries.

This paper tries to show a brief but profound view about new languages of communication introduced at school. On the one hand, the musical language included in the curriculo and the other hand the technological language spread in our society in order to transmit the importance of new technologies as well as the different posibilities that they offer to the teaching-learning process inside the educational area focusing on the musical educational one. Con este artículo se pretende dar una visión superficial, pero cargada de intencionalidad, sobre algunos de los nuevos lenguajes de comunicación que se han implantado en la escuela. Por un lado, el lenguaje musical recogido en el currículo y por otro, el lenguaje tecnológico extendido en nuestra sociedad. Se intenta transmitir la importancia que tienen las nuevas tecnologías, así como las diferentes posibilidades que ofrecen para el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje dentro del ámbito educativo, centrándonos de manera especial en el campo de la educación musical.

Amidst Bollywood’s romanticized landscapes and grandeur settings, depiction of the flora and fauna, roaring rivers and drought prone lands, is difficult to locate. But the new millennium has witnessed some new generation filmmakers, sensitized towards the ecological concerns, thus marking a shift from the illustration of idealised landscapes to the representation of nature’s wrath. Since, cinema in India, has a deep-rooted impact on the masses, these creators employ films as tools to sensitize the population towards the climate change threat which though as perilous as the COVID-19 crisis, is often ignored by a significant amount of population. Dawning upon themselves the responsibility of environmental awakening, Nila Madhab Panda and Abhishek Kapoor highlight in their movies, Kadvi Hawa(2017) and Kedarnath(2018), respectively, the horrors of human callousness, leading to drastic change in Climatic condition in India. Panda’s Kadavi Hawa, dealing with non-repayment of loans followed by suicides, portrays the heart-wrenching imagery of environmental degradation and Climate change that has rendered the Village of Mahua, arid and infertile. Kapoor’s Kedarnath on the other hand, appeals for action through horrifying imagery of the catastrophic floods that disrupted the holy town of Kedarnath, in 2013. Through a detailed analysis of the aforementioned visual portrayals, this article aims to emphasise as to how Films can play an important role in effectively addressing dealing with the issues related to Climate. Further, the rationale of this paper is to underscore the possibility of more such storylines, as a tool towards effective engagement and levitation of conscience.

Resumen: La rapidez en el crecimiento de nuestras ciudades y municipios, y el aumento vertiginoso en la demanda de suelo urbanizable, ha originado la impermeabilización del suelo urbanizado, lo que ha producido un aumento en los caudales de escorrentía. Por otro lado, el cambio climático impone nuevos desafíos en materia de gestión del drenaje pluvial para nuestras ciudades y municipios. El municipio de Turbaco vive una problemática en materia de drenaje pluvial, por causa del aumento en la demanda de suelo urbanizable y por la impermeabilización del suelo urbanizado. Los embalses de retención y las canales verdes surgen como una alternativa para la gestión de las aguas pluviales. Estos sistemas son de fácil adaptación al medio y son soluciones que van en favor del medio ambiente, al tiempo que constituyen parte del paisaje urbano. ___Palabras clave: Inundaciones, embalses, canales verdes, análisis hidrológico, planificación urbana. ___Abstract: The rapid growth of our cities and municipalities, and the rapid increase in the demand for urbanizable land, has led to the waterproofing of urbanized land, which has led to an increase in runoff flows. On the other hand, climate change imposes new challenges in the management of storm drainage for our cities and municipalities. The municipality of Turbaco lives a problem in the matter of rainwater drainage, due to the increase in the demand of urbanizable land and the waterproofing of the urbanized land. Retention reservoirs and green channels emerge as an alternative to stormwater management. Purpose: To compare the tactical-technical behavior of volleyball players according to the manipulation of court size in small-sided games. Method: We analyzed the tactical-technical behaviors of 16 male players (12.2  ±  0.5 years and 1.2  ±  0.8 years of practice) using the components of the GPAI instrument (Adjustment, efficiency, decision-making and effectiveness) validated for volleyball. To this end, we examined 1614 transition actions (defense, setting and attack) from games played in four court dimensions (3.0 × 3.0m, 4.0 × 4.0m, 4.6 × 4.6m and 5.2 × 5.2m). Altogether 96 Volleyball games were analyzed. Results: The smaller area per player favored technical skills development, specifically defensive and offensive ones. On the other hand, a larger area per player promoted higher scores in decision-making and effectiveness. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that the players’ behaviors in small-sided games depend on the game configurations, since modifications in the tactical-technical behavior emanate from the game ecology. Thus, the court size manipulation is a powerful pedagogical tool that deeply relates to learning outcomes. Coaches must consider such constraints in the teaching-learning process, since small-sided games manipulations should be linked with clear learning goals.

AbstractThe leading scientists debating climate change increasingly view the relationship between knowledge and governance as an “inconvenient democracy.” On the one hand, the discrepancy between the knowledge of climate change and citizens’ commitments to behavioral changes amounts to the diagnosis of an “inconvenient mind”; on the other hand, the inertia of policies to capture progress in knowledge leads to the diagnosis of “inconvenient institutions.” The sense of political ineffectiveness felt especially among climate scientists provokes a strong disenchantment with democratic governance. As a result, some scientists propose that political action based on principles of democratic governance be abandoned. In my article, I argue that such a view is mistaken.

This paper examined the effects of climate change on rural development in Nigeria. In this paper, rural development was measured by the percentage of the population with access to improved water supply. On the other hand, the measures of climate change employed in this paper are precipitations, variations in temperature and per capita carbon dioxide emissions. Data on the variables were sourced from the World Development Indicators (WDI) and the analytical techniques include descriptive statistics, unit root test, Hansen cointegration test and Fully-Modified Least Squares (FMOLS). The Kwiatkowski Phillips Schmidt and Shin (KPSS) unit test results show that the variables are mixed integrated with combinations of I(0) and I(1). It was observed from the Hansen test for cointegration that the test statistic with probability value (0.192) indicates that the variables are cointegrated. This suggests that the null hypothesis of parameter stability cannot be rejected. It was found from the estimated cointegrating regression model that precipitation and temperature are significant in influencing changes in access to improved water supply in rural Nigeria. Whilst precipitations negatively influenced access to rural water supply, changes in temperature enhanced rural water supply. The negative effects of precipitations on rural water supply could be attributed to the flooding usually associated with precipitations which tend to contaminate the various water sources in the rural areas. On the other hand, per capita carbon dioxide emissions do not significantly affect access to improved water supply in rural area. Given the findings, it was recommended for policy makers to adopt proactive and innovative approaches by synergizing with the relevant stakeholders to significantly address the problem of climate change and improve opportunities for rural development.
