Project PROBE (Providing Research- Based Opportunities for Better Education): Addressing Gaps through Research in Education

Abstract: This research determined the effectiveness of Project PROBE (Providing Research-Based Opportunities for Better Education) in addressing gaps on teachers’ research capabilities and utilization. Parameters were based on the School PPA Evaluation Tool from a total population of 25 teachers who were the recipients of the project. Through descriptive research design, findings from the evaluation of Project PROBE for the school year 2020 – 2021 were collected and interpreted using weighted mean and analysis of emerging themes. Data suggested that Project PROBE is highly evident as it obtained the overall mean score of 4.92 for Goals and Objectives; 4.99 for Relevance; 5.00 for Time Management; 4.96 for Student Participation; 4.92 for Internal and External Stakeholders Participation; 5.00 for Management of Resources; 4.95 for Effectiveness to Learning Outcomes Results; and 5.00 for Documentation/Accomplishment Report. Further, this is validated by the comments and suggestions provided by the respondents in the assessment of GFINHS PPA Evaluation Tool. Relatively, the outcome is consistent with a multitude of research that suggested that despite the pandemic, educators continuously seek resiliency and education reform. They acknowledged that research skills are critical to sustainable and lifelong learning. Hence, being teachers as researchers, they are innovators, curriculum drivers, agents of school transformation, and directors of their own professional growth. It can also be suggested that this study is vital for opening a better and greater avenue to recognize teachers’ efforts and contributions to the field of research. This study was conducted to determine the level of academic quality compliance of public secondary high schools and its predictors as input to strengthen institutional profiling. The respondents of the study were 167 teachers and school managers in (9) public secondary junior high schools in the City Schools Division of San Jose del Monte Bulacan for the School Year 2017-2018. The descriptive research design was used employing the predictive technique in determining the influence of respondents’ profile, institutions’ profile variables and the management capability factors as the academic quality compliance of the schools. The findings revealed that the schools’ academic quality compliance on leadership and governance is predicted by the NAT (Beta = .431), promotion rate (Beta= 1.170), and enrollment rate (Beta = .747).  The management capability on quality instruction predicts the schools’ academic quality compliance on curriculum and learning (Beta = .971) and the academic quality compliance on accountability and continuous improvement is influenced by the management capability on quality instruction. The promotion rate of the school predicts the academic quality compliance of the school in the area of management of resources (Beta =.671). The hypothesis stating that the respondent's profile, institutional profile, and management capability, singly or combination predict the schools' academic quality compliance is partly sustained.

En este artículo se expone un análisis sobre las representaciones que construyen docentes en torno al significante “reforma educativa” en el contexto de la educación básica, se presenta como ámbito de estudio la Escuela Primaria Colegio Cristóbal Colón en el estado de Veracruz, México, durante el ciclo escolar 2010-2011. Las preguntas centrales de esta investigación giran en torno a los significados construidos por las docentes respecto del término “reforma educativa” en la institución mencionada. En este abordaje se exponen los recursos procedentes de la teoría de las representaciones sociales, además de las dos categorías intermedias construidas en esta investigación: la primera se denomina reforma regional en perspectiva; la segunda, efecto de cambio y progreso. En este sentido la investigación permite conocer que las docentes significaron la interpelación de la RIEB 2009 como un llamado a la modificación de sus estrategias didácticas, identificando la reforma educativa como cambio curricular. AbstractThis article presents an analysis of the representations that teachers make about one term “educational reform” in the context of the basic education, in the Elementary School Cristóbal Colón in the state of Veracruz, Mexico; during the 2010-2011 school year. The core questions of this research are looking for the meanings given to the term “education reform” by the teachers in that institution. In this approach we take resources from the Theory of the Social Representations adding two mezzo categories created in this research: the first is called regional reform in perspective; the second is the effect of change and progress.  In French language, articles play an important role and one of the basic French skills is mastery of article usage. The objective of this study is to describe students’  performance and mastery of French articles. The research used descriptive research method. Data of the study were obtained by giving written tests of French language articles to French Language Education Program students enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year. The research instrument consisted of questions in the form of loose questions and questions in the form of text / short discourse. Data analysis used descriptive statistics analysis. Study result shows that students’ mastery of French article is quite low (Mean=48.28). However, there is difference in performance of each article type. Case method has been a popular pedagogy in management education. It is a preferred evaluation tool which is inherently subjective in nature. This article compares the results of case-based evaluation in marketing discipline, in announced and unannounced settings, for full-time and part-time management programmes and discusses its implications. The data were collected from the formal evaluation made by a faculty of an Association of MBAs (AMBA) accredited management institute of India. The results suggests that for full-time residential MBA programmes, use of relative marks for grading each component of the evaluation is likely to be a more robust evaluation mechanism than using just the marks or using the consolidated marks for final grading. However, neither surprise quiz nor announced quiz provide any robust and unbiased method of evaluating the performance of the students of part-time non-residential MBA programme as the result are also dependent on variables like work and family, which are extraneous to the student’s interest and proficiency in the subject.

This chapter presents qualitative research describing the pedagogy of middle grades mathematics teachers who participated in professional development in conjunction with classroom integration of 1:1 technology. Through a multiple-case study design, the expression and development of teacher pedagogy that occurred as teachers created self-designed action research projects grounded in pedagogical goals is illustrated. The use of action research in these four case studies as a vehicle for professional growth and as a reflective evaluation tool is discussed. When viewed through the lens of the TPACK framework (Mishra & Koehler, 2006), data suggest a technology-mediated shift in pedagogy in the area of differentiation in instruction and assessment in mathematics classrooms. Future implications regarding technology integration, professional development programs, and the use of the TPACK as a descriptive tool are considered.

Access to the common core and the general education environment are attainable goals for learners on the autism spectrum when their autism is clearly understood and meaningful supports and instruction are in place. This chapter focuses on one area that is often not addressed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) yet is critical to academic success: executive function. Specifically, this chapter overviews the executive function challenges related to ASD and technology supports in the executive functions areas of (a) information management, (b) materials management, (c) time management, and (d) self-management.

A training program to improve graduate psychology students' seminar presentations is described. The skills to be trained were derived from critical incident interviews with professors and included aspects of verbal and nonverbal behavior, time management, use of visual aids, providing information, and facilitating discussion. A behavior modeling learning design was used to teach the skills in a 1-day training workshop led by psychology professors. The training included an opportunity for students to practice the skills and receive video, peer, and instructor feedback. The training was evaluated favorably through professors' evaluations of student seminar presentations in classes and by students surveyed immediately after training and at the end of the school year.

Prosocial behaviour is influenced by several factors, one of which was the concept of the self. When students look at and assess their positive then the student will display the prososial behaviour in daily life. This research aims to look at the description of the concept of self and prosocial students and reveals how the relationships between the concepts of self and prososial SMAN 1 Lubuk Sikaping students. This research is descriptive research correlational. Research population totaled 574 people SMAN 1 Lubuk Sikaping, class XI and XII listed school year 2014/2015, with a sample of 85 people taken using techniques Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Data collection using question form on the concepts of self and prosocial. The Data obtained were analyzed by using statistical methods and looking for a score, the percentage of gains (%) score and the ideal’s score. To see the relationship of self concept of prosocial behaviour with student data processed by using Microsoft Office Programs Excel and SPSS program for windows release 16.0. Research findings show that there were significant positive relationships between the concepts themselves by prosocial SMAN 1 Lubuk Sikaping students.

 This study aims to describe the effectiveness of Problem Based Learning in terms of student creativity and student learning outcomes. This research is located at Prigen Prosperous Middle School in the even / odd semester of the 2019/2020 school year. This type of research uses the type of descriptive research with descriptive qualitative research methods with research subjects VII grade students of Prosperous Prosperous Middle School. The steps in this research are determining the problem, conducting a literature study, determining the location, determining the method, data collection, and data analysis. In this study, the average percentage of the learning achievement in the preliminary activities was 92.21%, the core activities were 96.41% and the closing activities were 81.47% so that overall the learning implementation was categorized as very good. The average percentage of students' creativity is 82.0% with a very good category. The average percentage of student learning outcomes students 81.81% with a very good category. Based on the description, Problem Based Learning is effective in terms of students' creativity and learning outcomes.
