The work’s aim is to identify practices implemented in hospital pediatric isolation in order to reduce psyhcic suffering. It is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study. A source triangulation methodology was used: (BVS-BIREME, PubMed, Google acadêmico and PsycINFO) open interviews with experienced professionals who were active in pediatric hospital services was done; and, an online search was done on techniques to humanize pediatric hospital isolation services. The results indicated scarcity of specialized literature, predominance of qualitative studies and tendency to value resources over relational resources, as well as the existence of practices lacking more scientific evidence. The employment of these practices depends on factors related to the lethality of the pathogen, the child’s age and concernment, the responsivity level, the access to material resources and the health team’s flexibility in regard to pondering about risks/benefits, experimenting with idiosyncratic practices.

Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in Main Operation Theatre of Children Hospital and Institute of Child Health Lahore. Data was collected by using Convenient Sampling Technique. This was a hospital-based study in which staff members of both genders were included. The study population divided into four strata; doctors (surgeons and anesthetists), nurses, operation theatre technicians and anesthesia technicians. A total of 51 cases were observed and checked by a checklist about coordination diffculties in the management of operation theatre. Results: A total of 51 cases were studied to determine the difficulties in management of operation theatre. 25.22% cases showed difficulty in proper management of Operation Theater. This result showed that there are still some difficulties like insufficient and old equipments, absence of proper sterilization, lack of proper leadership, work overload, no quality check of equipments, no teaching program, and unpunctuality of staff, improper timing and organization in the operation theater. Conclusions: There are many difficulties in management of operation theatre regarding staff members, equipments, timings and sterilization. A proper leadership and organization can sort out these problems.

Objective: the purpose of this literature review was to evaluate apical debris extrusion after root canal preparation with Protaper Universal and Protaper Next Rotary systems. Material and Methods: the question that supported the collection of scientific evidence for the present study was: Which rotary system presents the best performance regarding the apical extrusion of debris: Protaper Universal or Protaper Next? From the online search databases, a bibliographic research was carried out covering original research studies, using as descriptors: Apical extrusion debris, Protaper Universal and Protaper Next. Articles had to meet the following inclusion criteria: should have been published in the English language from 2014 to 2017 and should compare both mentioned rotary files systems regarding apical extrusion of debris in the same study. Ninety-six articles were found after research and six were included for this integrative review. Results: six studies remained included after the inclusion criteria analysis. Of these, 50% were published in 2016, 16.6% in 2015 and and 33% in 2014. Weight establishment of the extruded material was the methodology used in all studies to evaluate the performance of the files By analyzing the amount of apically extruded material, it was found that the Protaper Universal system extruded more quantity than the Protaper Next system. Conclusion: it was concluded that, although there is no system capable of performing the instrumentation without promoting apical extrusion, the Protaper Next rotary files system presented better performance when compared to the Protaper Universal files system, regarding the apical debris extrusion.

OBJECTIVE To describe the fifth-year medical students' self-evaluation based on the reflexive discourse of the Activities Diaries (portfolio) from the Pediatric Internship I and Child Care Rotations. METHODS Cross sectional, qualitative and descriptive study using the collective subject discourse of the diaries used during the internship of the Medical School, in Catanduva, São Paulo, from January to November, 2011. The registered students' testimonials in the portfolio sections called self-assessment and students' impression were assessed according to their central ideas (discipline organization, breastfeeding outpatient clinic, number of admissions in the pediatric hospital ward and satisfaction with the Child Health training ), related to the teaching of Pediatrics and Child Care. The portfolios with incomplete registers were excluded. RESULTS The testimonials of 47 interns (75% of the students) were analyzed, and 21.3% of them expressed satisfaction with the discipline organization and 27.7% praised the inclusion of the breastfeeding outpatient clinics in the course. For 25.5% of the academics, the number of admissions in the pediatric wards was insufficient for an ideal learning; however, 70.2% were satisfied with the Child Health training. CONCLUSIONS This critical analysis allowed a summary of the reflections, suggestions and critics registered by the interns and can be used as a tool for improvement of the professional cycle.

The objective of this study was to reveal nurses' perception in view of the nociceptive pain in child burn patients. This qualitative descriptive study was conducted at the Federal District Pediatric Hospital in Mexico City. Data were collected from semi-structured interviews with ten nurses working in the burn unit; they were analyzed by content analysis, which yielded three categories. The theoretical framework was based on phenomenology. The results showed the nurses' experiences, their expression, and their self-defense mechanisms, as revealed in the perception of their interventions. This highlighted the humanistic load regarding emotions, as the exposure to these feelings implies spending additional strength and energy, because the emotional work becomes more intense as their workloadincreases. Thus, the study concluded that subjects learn about their own experience through experience itself.

Objective: tracing the epidemiological profile, focused on infectious aspects, of children undergoing insertion of external ventricular drainage valve for the treatment of hydrocephalus. Method: A retrospective, documentary and descriptive study of clinical and epidemiological approach with a quantitative analysis of the findings. The sample consisted of 53 children in a pediatric hospital of reference in the state of Paraiba in the period July 2009 to December 2014. For data analysis, non-parametric tests were used, and the chi-square test and Fisher test performed according to the statement. Results: Among the 53 children who participated in our study, 49.1% (26) died. According to the causes found on the death certificate, 69.2% of the causes of death described relation to infection. Conclusion: the high rates of CNS infections and other acquired infections, resulting in the deaths of children who underwent insertion of EVD valve, they are the result of a set of facts involving the care of a multidisciplinary team. The high incidence presented in the shunt study showed that changes and system remaining in the patient to a risk factor for infection.

Purpose: To evaluate the barriers in acceptance of cataract surgery during COVID-19(Coronavirus disease-2019) era. Material and methods: A cross sectional descriptive study was conducted in months of August and September 2020. Number of patients who refused the surgery were noted and compared with retrospective data of patients who refused cataract surgery in August and September 2019. The patients who refused cataract surgery were administered semi structured interview noting sociodemographic data, characteristics of cataract, reasons for refusing cataract surgery related to COVID-19 and otherwise and reasons for refusal to get tested for COVID-19. Results:Atotal of 100 patients (57 females and 43 males) who refused cataract surgery, 12 patients had visual acuity (VA) less than 6/60 and 50 had VAbetween 6/18-6/60. Amongst the barriers not relating to COVID-19 were daily activity not suffering(45) followed by fear of the surgery(25) and relating to hospital services were unwillingness for COVID-19 testing( 85), getting COVID-19infection from the hospital(24), lot of time is wasted (25)and they do not trust the level of precautions taken by the hospital at this point of time.(20) . Barriers related to COVID-19 were: refusal to get COVID-19 tested prior to surgery(85) , procedure is not an emergency, they want to defer it(51), their family members may get COVID-19 infection from them, if they get surgery at this time(15) , increase in nancial burden and owing to that they cannot get cataract surgery in this period(65) and lack of transport (25). Conclusions:COVID-19 has negatively impacted on cataract surgery uptake
