AbstrakSebagai negara kepulauan di daerah tropis, Indonesiakaya akan sumberdaya alam untuk swasembada pangan.Berjuta-juta hektar lahan di Indonesia ditanami tanamanperkebunan, tanaman tahunan yang memiliki masa juvenilyang relatif lama, terutama tanaman kelapa sawit dan karet.Sementara itu, upaya untuk meningkatkan produksi panganterkendala oleh terbatasnya lahan subur. Penelitian yangmengeksplorasi bioregulator alami mampu meningkatkanproduktivitas tanaman, menemukan bahwa Sargasum sp.,rumput laut tipe liar yang di sepanjang pantai beberapawilayah Indonesia, menunjukkan kemampuannya meningkat-kan pertumbuhan dan produktivitas tanaman seperti padi,jagung, tomat dan pertumbuhan kelapa sawit tanpapenambahan pupuk kimia. Percobaan pada padi gogovarietas Batutegi yang ditanam di rumah kaca, menunjuk-kan bahwa bioregulator alami tersebut meningkatkanproduktivitasnya 50% lebih tinggi daripada kontrolnya.Percobaan menggunakan jagung var. Arjuna, tanaman yangtelah diperlakukan dengan bioregulator tersebut mem-produksi dua hingga tiga tongkol, sementara pada tanamankontrol hanya satu tongkol. Percobaan pada tanamankelapa sawit di rumahkaca memperlihatkan bahwa bio-regulator tersebut menginduksi pertumbuhan vegetatifnyasecara signifikan, lebih baik daripada kontrol dengan atautanpa pupuk kimia. Our researchexploring natural bioregulator capable of improving cropproductivity, found that Sargasum sp., a wild sea weedgrown mostly along the coast line in Indonesia, indicated itsability to improve the growth and productivity of crops likerice, maize, tomato and oil palm even though with nochemical fertilizers added. The experiment on upland rice oflocal variety Batutegi planted in greenhouse, demonstratedthe natural bioregulator has increased the rice productivityby at least 50% over the control. The experiment usingmaize var. Arjuna, the bioregulator treated plants has madetwo to three corncobs instead of only one corncob on thecontrol plants. Performance and organoleptic indices of rabbits fed plantain, oil palm and calopogonium leaves was assessed using 48, eight weeks old bucks. They were allotted to four groups of 12 animals and three replicates of four animals each. Group A (control) was fed calopogonium leaf while groups B, C, and D were fed plantain leaf, oil palm leaf, and 50% oil palm + 50% plantain leaves, respectively. Animals consumed fixed amount of commercial pellets while forages and water were given ad libitum. Completely randomized design, one-way analysis of variance was used. Proximate analysis of pellets and forages as well as feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion ratio were assessed. At the end of the experiment, meat from one rabbit per treatment was used for sensory evaluation by 20 semi-trained panelists using 7-point hedonic scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS software. Significant means were separated using Least Significant Difference. Crude protein, crude fibre, ether extract, nitrogen free extract and ash contents of the leaves ranged from 25.11±1.50 (calopogonium) to 4.90±0.92 (oil palm), 38.40±2.12 (oil palm) to 15.38±0.07 (plantain), 9.71±0.01 (plantain) to 2.30±0.01 (oil palm), 47.80±0.56 (oil palm) to 32.27±0.02 (calopogonium) and 11.93±0.02 (plantain) to 2.99±0.01 (oil palm), respectively. Groups A and B had the highest (p<0.05) final weight and weight gains while groups A, B and C had the highest (p<0.05) forage intake. Feed conversion ratios of groups A and B were better (lower) than others. Forages had no effect on meat colour and texture. Groups B and D meats tasted better than others. Group D meat aroma was better than those fed single forages. Meats from groups C and D were the juiciest while meats from groups A, C and D were the most acceptable. Consideration of final weights, weight gains, feed conversion ratio and taste of meat would require that plantain leaves be used to feed meat rabbits. An experiment comparing crop regulation by pruning with crop regulation by disbunching is described. For three out of four seasons both methods of regulation gave similar yields, and only in one season did disbunched vines yield somewhat better than more severely pruned vines with the same number of bunches. This better yield appeared to be due to larger berries on the disbunched vines. Increased vegetative growth on the disbunched vines was not accompanied by improved fruit bud formation or by better bud burst in the following season. It is concluded that the leaf/fruit ratio has little effect on the yield of sultanas under Murray Valley conditions, and that methods of crop forecasting and regulation by pruning developed for this region should not be affected by the variation in leaf / fruit ratio to which they give rise.

Abstract The use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture has caused soil degradation and is harmful to human health. Organic fertilizers made from animal waste have received worldwide attention because they are not detrimental to health or the environment. This paper describes the effect of using organic fertilizers from chicken manure on the growth of papaya plants. A completely randomized design was used in this study using two factors and three repetitions; the variations of the fertilizers given were 0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 g. This study informed that organic chicken manure had a significant effect on the growth of oil palm and papaya plants. The best growth is oil palm and papaya plants given 200 g of organic fertilizer from chicken manure.

AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pola pengusahaan komoditas tanaman pangan pada lahan kering ditinjau dari penerapan pola tanam di Kabupaten Morowali Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survey. Lokasi penelitian adalah di Kabupaten Morowali Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Teknik penarikan sampel digunakan random sampling. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 120 responden yang tersebar di 3 kecamatan yakni Kecamatan Bungku Utara, Kecamatan Petasia dan Kecamatan Mori Atas Kabupaten Morowali Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dengan menggunakan kuesioner dan observasi. Hasil dari analisis pola pengusahaan komoditas tanaman pangan pada lahan kering ditinjau dari pola tanam di Kabupaten Morowali Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah.akan diuraikan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan pola pengusahaan komoditas tanaman pangan pada lahan kering ditinjau dari pola tanam adalah petani melakukan pola pertanaman sejenis, yaitu padi-padi-palawija, jagung-jagung-palawija, kedele-kedele-sayuran dan kacang-kacang-bera. The land is an important factor for people whose lives depend on the agricultural sector. The need for land for various uses has resulted in decreasing agricultural land which could have implications for decreasing food production. Alternative options which are expected to increase the potential for food production are the utilization of marginal land. Farmers with marginal land need to manage their production to meet household needs. So it is important to examine the marketable surplus, the level of commercialization, and the carrying capacity of marginal land. The research area was taken by purposive sampling method in Gunungkidul Yogyakarta. The samples taken were upland rice farmer households with the simple random sampling method. The marketable surplus analysis uses a marketable surplus formula, then the percentage is used to determine the level of farm commercialization. The carrying capacity analysis is carried out using the carrying capacity formula. The results showed that farmer households manage rice production by allocating an average of 59.1% for marketed and 40.9% for household consumption. The allocation of marketable surplus is greater than for household consumption, this shows that gogo rice farming households are towards commercially. The marginal land carrying capacity of 0.641 indicates that the land cannot be developed in an expansive and exploratory manner. The implication is in increasing upland rice production on marginal land, namely by an intensification of farming.

Farmers Perception Of Options To Sell Rice Penebas Or Perpadi(especially in Subak Benel, Kaliakah Village, Negara districts,Jembrana Regency) Various efforts have been implemented by the Provincial Food Crops Agency of Balito stabilize the price of grain, this is done by giving Funds of Rural EconomicEmpowerment Capital to the government for the purchase of rice. Although it hasbeen done from 2003, farmers are still selling it to Penebas with a bondage system.The purpose of this study to determine the perception of farmers to the choice ofselling rice to Perpadi or Penebas seen and differences in farmers' perceptions of thechoice of selling rice to Penebas or Perpadi. The research location is located in SubakBenel, Kaliakah Village, State District, Jembrana District. The analytical methodused is qualitative descriptive that aided with score, to answer the purpose ofresearch by using questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that the perceptionof farmers to the choice of selling rice to Perpadi better than to Penebas. This is seenin the achievement of the farmers' choice of selling paddy to Perpadi is very goodand to Penebas is good. The difference of Perpadi with Penebas is measured throughDifferent Test with SPSS Independent Sample T test program which the result of Sigvalue. Or p value of 0.004 where <0.05 then there is a statistically significantdifference in probability 0.05, the mean difference or mean of both groups is shownin Mean Difference ie .29559.

An analysis of the semiotic and productive transformation of food crops under Argentina’s agribusiness model through a study of the diffusion of the term “commodity” in the discourse produced/reproduced by the rural sections of the hegemonic media, combined with statistical data that allow a dialogue between discourse and measurable quantities, concludes that defining the Argentine countryside as a place for commodity production is linked with increasing crop production for export that leads to the erosion of food sovereignty and food security. Un análisis de las transformaciones semióticas y productivas de los frutos de la tierra bajo el modelo argentino de los agronegocios que examina la extensión del término commodity en los discursos producidos/reproducidos por las secciones rurales de los medios gráficos de comunicación hegemónicos, entrecruzado con datos estadísticos para poner en diálogo el nivel del discurso con el de las cantidades medibles, concluye que la consigna que define al campo argentino como un lugar de producción de commodities se imbrica con una tendencia a la intensificación de los cultivos orientados exclusivamente a la exportación y la erosión de la soberanía y seguridad alimentaria.
