The occurrence of Funchalia woodwardi is reported for the first time for the Southeast Pacific region off the Chilean coast. Two specimens were collected during the program of scientific cruises to remote areas (CIMAR). The first specimen was collected in 1999 for the cruise CIMAR 5 station 21 (27°00'08"S-94°05'49"W) and the second specimen was collected in 2015 for the cruise CIMAR 21 station 11 (27°00'07"S-79°05'05"W) to oceanic Chilean island and represent the first record of this genus in the Pacific waters of America. With this new record the distribution of the species is pan tropical.

Larvae of the nematode Salvelinema walkeri (Ekbaum, 1935) and metacercariae of the trematode Crepidostomum metoecus (Braun, 1900) are recorded for the first time from the amphipod Ramellogammarus vancouverensis Bousfield, 1979 (Amphipoda: Gammaridae).The infected amphipods were collected from De Mamiel Creek, southwestern Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Brief descriptions are given of both parasites, which as adults live in salmonid fishes. This report provides the first record of an intermediate host for S. walkeri, a swim-bladder parasite of salmonids of the Pacific region of North America, and of an intermediate host of a Crepidostomum species in the Pacific region of Canada.

The Palearctic wool carder bee Anthidium manicatum (Linnaeus) is recorded for the first time in Chile based on eight specimens collected on Lavandula sp. (Lamiaceae) in San Bernardo, Metropolitan Region.  This new record expands the invasive range of this species in South America, confirming previous predictions based on an ecological niche model.

The benthic ctenophore Vallicula multiformis Rankin, 1956 is recorded for the first time in the Arabian Sea, from the Gulf of Kutch, west coast of India in March 2013. This occurrence represents a remarkable extension of its geographic distribution that until now included only known the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

AbstractThe nematode Schulmanela petruschewskii (Shulman, 1948) was identified during the parasitological examination on the liver parenchyma in one specimens of a cultured rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) which reared in Derbent Dam Lake in Samsun, Turkey (41°25′6′’ North latitude, 35°49′52′’ East longitude) in August 2008. This parasite species was not previously reported from Turkey. With the present study we report S. petruschewskii for the first time in Turkey. This specimen which is a parasite of cultured rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is a new record for the Turkish parasite fauna. Original measurements and figures are presented.

Ameiridae Monard, 1927 was previously known from Korea only after one endemic and four cosmopolitan species of the genus Nitokra Boeck, 1865, and a single widely distributed species of the genus Ameira Boeck, 1865, all from brackish enviroments. After a survey of 22 sampling sites and close to 3,500 harpacticoid specimens from various marine enviroments, we report on two new endemic species of Ameira, A. zahaae sp. nov. and A. kimchi sp. nov., from the West Sea and the South Sea respectively. They are both relatively closely related to the previously recorded cosmopolitan A. parvula (Claus, 1866), but show many novel morphological structures in the caudal rami shape and ornamentation. The identity of the cosmopolitan A. parvula in Korea is questioned, and an alternative hypothesis of a species-complex proposed. The fine ornamentation of body somites (especially the pores/sensilla pattern) is studied in detail, and proves to be a very useful new morphological tool in distinguishing closely related spacies in this genus. The genus Pseudameira Sars, 1911 is reported for the first time in Korea, after four females of P. mago sp. nov. from the South Sea. A single damaged female of Proameira cf. simplex (Norman & Scott, 1905) represents the first record of the genus Proameira Lang, 1944 in Korea, Asia, and anywhere in the Pacific. A key to Korean ameirids is also provided, and their apparent rarity in this part of the world noticed.

Collections made along the coast of California have revealed the presence of a species of Pseudosphaeroma Chilton, 1909, a genus common in New Zealand coastal waters. The genus is entirely Southern Hemisphere in distribution, and this record reports the introduction of a species of Pseudosphaeroma into the San Francisco and Central Coast region of California, the first reported occurrence of the genus as an invasive taxon, and the first record of the genus from the Northern Hemisphere. The genus is also recorded for the first time from the Galapagos and Argentina.

Diaziella bizarrea van Noort & Rasplus sp. nov. is described from specimens reared from Ficus glaberrima and Diaziella yangi van Noort & Rasplus sp. nov. is described from specimens reared from Ficus curtipes in Xishuangbanna, China. Together with a new record of Diaziella macroptera Grandi from Thailand this is the first time the genus has been recorded from the Asian mainland. Previously the twelve described species of Diaziella were known from the islands of Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi and the Philippines. Images are provided for both sexes of the two new species and for the female of D. macroptera. A key is included to all described species of Diaziella. The bee mimicking hover fly genus Volucella Geoffroy, 1762 and the potter wasp mimicking genus Monoceromyia Shannon, 1922 are reported for the first time from South India. Brief diagnosis of Volucella trifasciata Wiedemann, 1830 and Monoceromyia javana (Wiedemann, 1824), high-resolution images of the habitus and other important characters, as well as notes on their distribution, mimicry and biology are provided. Key words: Volucella, Monoceromyia, batesian mimicry, new record, range extension

Cyamus balaenopterae Barnard from Balaenoptera acutorostrata and Neocyamus physeteris (Pouchet) from Physeter macrocephalus are reported for the first time from the Pacific Ocean. This is the first record of a cyamid from B. acutorostrata.

We documented the existence of a population of the southern Caribbean pontarachnid miteLitarachna caribicafor the first time on the Pacific coast of Panama. Based on morphological observations, this is the first record of a pontarachnid mite with a trans-isthmian distribution, which can be explained by either modern biological dispersal or historical vicariance hypotheses.Litarachna caribicahad either passed through the Panama Canal, successfully colonizing the opposite coast, or previously continuously distributed populations had become disjunct after the rise of the Central American land.
