The widespread use of social media has promoted extensive academic research on this channel. The present study conducts a systematic analysis of extant research on social media use among young people in China. This systematic literature review aims to identify and bridge gaps in topics, theories, variables, and conceptual frameworks in studies of social media usage among young people in China. The study aims to develop a cause–effect framework that shows the causal relationships among research structures. The PRISMA method is used to review 20 articles drawn from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases. From the analysis, 10 major research topics, eight theories or models, and a complete framework of causal relations emerge. It is recommended that future research on social media should include a greater diversity of types of social media, investigate a wider range of research topics, and adopt different theories or models. Researchers should also implement a more complete and detailed systematic method for reviewing literature on social media research in China.

This brief essay introduces the special issue on the topic of ‘digital placemaking’ – a concept describing the use of digital media to create a sense of place for oneself and/or others. As a broad framework that encompasses a variety of practices used to create emotional attachments to place through digital media use, digital placemaking can be examined across a variety of domains. The concept acknowledges that, at its core, a drive to create and control a sense of place is understood as primary to how social actors identify with each other and express their identities and how communities organize to build more meaningful and connected spaces. This idea runs through the articles in the issue, exploring the many ways people use digital media, under varied conditions, to negotiate differential mobilities and become placemakers – practices that may expose or amplify preexisting inequities, exclusions, or erasures in the ways that certain populations experience digital media in place and placemaking.

At-risk prediction and early warning initiatives have become a core part of contemporary practice in American high schools, with the goal of identifying students at-risk of poorer outcomes, determining which factors are associated with these risks, and developing interventions to support at-risk students’ individual needs. However, efforts along these lines have typically ignored whether a student is military-connected or not. Given the many differences between military-connected students and other students, we investigate whether models developed for non-military-connected students still function effectively for military-connected students, studying the specific cases of graduation prediction and SAT score prediction. We then identify which variables are highly different in their connections to student outcomes, between populations.

Fat embolism syndrome is one of the many complications in traumatology, which carries a serious danger due to the difficult diagnosis at the early stages of its development. In many medical sources, fat embolism syndrome is described as a severe condition characterized by obturation of blood vessels by embolus, which are represented by fat droplets larger than 7-9 microns. Fat embolism is usually caused by trauma, accompanied by crushing of tissues. This is especially common in fractures of the tubular bones as a result of high-energy trauma. As exemplified in the medical literature about 6-7 % of isolated fractures and 37 % of combined injuries lead to the appearance of fat embolism syndrome. Much more often, fat embolism develops in open fractures, and the frequency of its occurrence increases with a combination of open and closed fractures. Due to the fact that fat embolism is a life-threatening condition, early detection of this pathology is necessary. The purpose of this literature review is to study the pathogenesis of fat embolism, as well as the possibilities, problems and methods of early diagnosis of this pathology in trauma practice...

Digital economy has become a priority for companies and countries since consumer profile and consumption habits have greatly changed. Companies have begun to transfer the services they offer to the Internet. Also, a digital economy creates networks amongst individuals, communities, companies, and markets. With digitalization, not only have consumers' profiles changed, but marketing tools have changed as well. Social media marketing (SMM) is the product of this trend and is marketing through social media channels (SMCs). Therefore, this chapter examines social media use within business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) contexts. Moreover, the authors focus on the differences of SMCs adoption in B2C and B2B contexts.

This chapter focuses on social innovation, a topic that the literature has been increasingly discussing in the last decade. The authors revise the many available (and, to some extent, too general) definitions as well as identify the main features that have been claimed as relevant for social innovation (e.g. Mumford, 2002), which concur in providing its definition. By doing so, they pursue the assessment of a less fuzzy definition of social innovation and make a first attempt to focus on the role that companies play in developing as well as scaling social innovations. The adopted approach exploits the literature review and is based on an in-depth analysis of the definitions of social innovation: the authors collected and catalogued them, so identifying the main dimensions of analysis. Clarifying what social innovation is and the role that companies play in social innovation initiatives can increase companies' awareness of what they (can) do with respect to social innovation, possibly taking advantage of this in terms of business objectives.
