A subcultura gótica é remanescente de uma safra de culturas juvenis oriundas do final da década de 70 e do início da década de 80. Assumindo, na modernidade, papel fundamental na identidade de grupo, a moda e a indumentária passam a ser um meio de expressão da auto-identidade dos indivíduos e, também, um indicador de pertencimento ao grupo e diferenciação na sociedade. A partir dos estudos de identidade de Stuart Hall e Anthony Giddens, combinados com o conceito de moda trabalhado por Gilles Lipovetsky e o hibridismo homem-objeto proposto por Daniel Miller, busca-se uma reflexão acerca do papelda indumentária enquanto extensão da auto-identidade formada pelos integrantes da subcultura gótica, bem como na construção de uma identidade coletiva.

Este ensaio tem como propósito fazer uma reflexão sobre a modernidade como experiência subjetiva e suas implicações para o “estilo de vida” na contemporaneidade. A análise versa sobre algumas rupturas com a tradição e algumas experiências novas que o mundo moderno propicia como forma de experiência subjetiva. Ao estabelecer diálogos pontuais entre Anthony Giddens, Bruno Latour, Mike Featherstone, Stuart Hall e Marshall Berman, conceitos como reflexividade, globalização, modernização, agenciamento e identidade serão articulados com o sentido de discutir como se dá o remodelamento da tradição na modernidade, e quais as implicações dessa nova dinâmica para a vida social e psíquica do sujeito.

Este artigo investiga a crise de identidade na pós-modernidade e, também, como os novos movimentos religiosos pentecostais ganharam espaço neste contexto. A proposta acontece em torno de uma instituição neopentecostal que se aproxima dos sujeitos em crise através das mídias sociais, inclusive por meio de programas televisivos presentes no cotidiano dos brasileiros. Perscruta, através de pesquisas já realizadas com membros desta instituição e do site oficial da Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD), os significados que a sua teologia (denominada por Teologia da Prosperidade) ganham no dia a dia dos fiéis, que esta instituição religiosa chamará de organização de vida e superação das dificuldades do cotidiano. Ao referenciar-se em pensadores contemporâneos como Zygmunt Bauman, Stuart Hall e Anthony Giddens, na teologia crítica, na sociologia da religião, na antropologia da religião e nas ciências da religião, o método utilizado combina o estudo bibliográfico com a netnografia.

O estudo faz uma análise da personagem feminina na narrativa de Raduan Nassar, focalizando a novela Um copo de cólera. A pesquisa apresenta algumas reflexões acerca da (des)ordem causada pela ascensão da mulher na sociedade e insere-se dentro de uma perspectiva dos estudos culturais voltados para a construção identitária da mulher em um contexto sociedade já tomada pelos signos da modernidade. Objetiva-se mostrar como o processo de individualização da mulher ocorre na narrativa. Parte-se da hipótese de que o mesmo se deu a partir do momento em que a mulher/personagem inominada tomou consciência de si enquanto sujeito de identidade própria, principalmente pelo conhecimento dos limites do seu corpo. Para dar conta dos objetivos propostos, a presente investigação valeu-se de pesquisa bibliográfica e análise da narrativa de Nassar, tendo como base teórica os estudos de Michel Foucault, cuja obra interroga as formas do poder e o estatuto do saber moderno, a partir, dentre outros fatores, da sexualidade. Também são utilizados os estudos de Stuart Hall, Zygmunt Bauman e  Anthony Giddens, além de apresentar reflexões da teoria feminista. A pesquisa visa contribuir com os estudos identitários sobre a mulher, bem como faz uma revisão da rica produção literária de Raduan Nassar, escritor de grande importância no cenário literário nacional.

Busca-se neste artigo, por meio de um estudo de caso, discutir o papel da identidade fundamentada na memória como luta de resistência à desapropriação de terras. O marco teórico deste trabalho está fundado nas contribuições de Erving Goffman (1978), Stuart Hall (2003), Zygmunt Bauman (2006) e Anthony Giddens (2002), em torno do conceito de identidade e de Peter Burke (2000) em relação à memória. Apontamos que, frente a pós-modernidade caracterizada pela liquidez, a identidade coletiva resgatada por meio da memória pode ser uma arma de resistência e afirmação identitária, principalmente tratando-se de grupos étnicos que possuem respaldo constitucional específico, como os índios.

<p class="p1a">Traveling is one activity that is often done by urban communities. Currently there are many female travelers in Indonesia, one of them is Trinity that entered in a row of women who inspire Indonesian women. Trinity constructs self-identity by liberating herself from the construction of society in general, and represents herself through social media, books and films. One of the used social media is Instagram, under account name @trinitytraveler. The purpose of these paper is to figure out how self-identity constructed and how the image of “Other Woman" is represented in @trinitytraveler. This research applied self-identity theory from Anthony Giddens (<span lang="IN">1991</span>) and representation from Stuart Hall (<span lang="IN">2013</span>). Through @trinitytraveler, Trinity represents "The Other Woman" which is different from the "Ideal Woman" that has been known in the community. @trinitytraveler represents a different self-identity; that is a single woman who has freedom of life by traveling to various places. In addition @trinitytraveler also represents women who are able to enjoy and appreciate herself including her body, being freed from the dominant construction of beautiful women.<o:p></o:p></p>

Television advertisement is an effective medium that aims to market a product or service, because it combines audio and visuals. therefore television advertisement can effectively influence the audience to buy the product or service. Advertisement nowadays does not only convey promotional messages, but can also be a medium for delivering social messages. That is one form of the function of the media, which is to educate the public. The research entitled Representation of Morality in the Teh Botol Sosro Advertisement "Semeja Bersaudara" version analyzed the morality value in a television advertisement from ready-to-drink tea producers, Teh Botol Sosro entitled "Semeja Bersaudara" which began airing in early 2019. In this study researchers used Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotics theory with triangular meaning analysis tools in the form of Signs, Objects and Interpretations. In addition, researchers also use representation theory from Stuart Hall in interpreting messages in advertisements. The results of this study found that the "Semeja Bersaudara" version of Teh Botol Sosro advertisement represented a message in the form of morality. There are nine values of morality that can be taken in this advertisement including, friendly attitude, sharing, empathy, help, not prejudice, no discrimination, harmony, tolerance between religious communities and cross-cultural tolerance. The message conveyed in this advertisement is how the general public can understand how every human action in social life has moral values, so that the public can understand and apply moral values in order to live a better life.

While many analysts have commented on the representation of 1968 campus events and antiwar demonstrations, less attention has been paid to the global significance of the dramatic struggles in industrial Detroit during the period. The meanings of events in the city were intensely fought over. As Stuart Hall, Chas Critcher, Tony Jefferson, John Clarke, and Brian Roberts observed, the events of 1968 were “an act of collective will, the breaks and ruptures stemming from the rapid expansion in the ideology, culture and civil structures of the new capitalism . . . in the form of a ‘crisis of authority.’” In Detroit the crisis of authority was expressed in the form of popular political struggles against racism, state violence, and the contradictions of life in the industrial capitalist city. This article asks and answers the following research questions about the struggle over the meaning of this decisive turning point in US history: What was the relationship between racial ordering, uneven capitalist development, and mass antiracist and class struggles? How did Black working-class organic intellectuals resist and alter hegemonic definitions of the situation? How are the dialectics of insurgency and counterinsurgency to be best theorized during this precise historical conjuncture?

Identitas gender seseorang, baik laki-laki maupun perempuan, menjadi dinamis karena faktor lingkungan yang ada di sekitarnya. Kedinamisan identitas gender menunjukkan bahwa identitas diri seseorang bukanlah sesuatu yang bersifat absolut. Hal tersebut terepresentasi dalam novel Boy-Boy Love Story karya Salsa Ivy. Makalah ini akan membahas kegagalan tokoh Riano pada novel Boy-Boy Love Story karya Salsa Ivy dalam mempertahankan kestatisan identitas gendernya. Tujuan makalah ini adalah mendeskripsikan kegagalan tokoh Riano dalam mempertahankan kestatisan identitas gendernya. Teori identitas Stuart Hall, yaitu identitas sebagai proses being dan becoming yang tidak pernah statis dan akan selalu berubah, akan digunakan sebagai titik tolak untuk mengungkapkan kegagagalan tokoh  Riano dalam mempertahankan kestatisan identitas gendernya. Hasil kajian terhadap novel ini menunjukkan bahwa kegagalan tokoh Riano dalam mempertahankan identitas gendernya karena faktor lingkungan. Kegagalan tersebut juga disebabkan tokoh Riano tidak memiliki keberanian untuk melakukan perlawanan terhadap kekuasaan yang ada di sekitarnya lingkungannya.
