This research is an qualitative descriptive research which aim to know high or low the ability of mathematical creative thinking and mathematical critical thinking on system of two variable equations. The subject of this research were 30 students at 10th grade in one of the vocational high school in Galanggang Village. Data collection is done by giving 5 questions for each creative thinking ability and critical thinking ability to the students. Data obtained are then processed and analyzed later will concluded that mathematical creative thinking ability and mathematical critical thinking ability in one of the vocational high school in Galanggang Village is still low. This conclusion is based on results the average of the percentage obtained from the five indicators of creative thinking ability is 21.81% and from critical thinking ability is 43.44%.

Critical thinking in education has been widely practiced following the awareness that it helps a lot the students specifically in science subjects. In accordance with critical thinking ability in science, students who show ability on critical thinking will successfully cope with problems they encounter. Such ability hopefully works in their learning achievement. The objective of this research is to investigate the influence of creative and critical thinking on the achievement of the students of the Department of Primary Education IKIP PGRI Madiun in the class of Science Concepts II. The current study makes use of the descriptive correlational. As many as 191students enrolled the class of science concepts II in the academic year 2012/2013, out of 366 populations, serve as the sample through the proportional random sampling technique. Tests were administered to collect the data analyzed by applying descriptive analysis of double regression to assess the hypothesis in which SPSS PASW Statistics 18 was applied. Results show that there is significant correlation on the variables of creative and critical thinking on their achievement. The creative thinking contributes 20.13% while the critical thinking contribution is 21.53%. Other variables beyond this research contribute 58.34%.

Key words: Creative Thinking Ability, Critical Thinking, Student Achievement

Education is a significant factor to shape human beings as a whole. The ability to think for humans plays an important role to develop information. The issue of lack of ability to think critically in Sahida Lemah Abang Vocational High School needed to be addressed. One learning model that can be utilized to guide students to think critically is Problem Based Learning (PBL) using an e-module as the resource of learning material. The study aims to examine the implementation of Problem Based Learning model using e-module and its influence on students' critical thinking ability. This study used a quasi-experiment with nonequivalent control group design as its research design. In using the research design, two observations have been conducted; one was before the experiment called Pre-Test (O1) and one after the experiment of this study called the post-test (O2). There are two samples in this study; one is the experimental group and the other is the control group. The study was done in Sahida Lemah Abang Vocational High School. The data was gathered by using tests and observation sheets of the learning process. The result in this study shows averagely that the implementation in each of the learning stages has gained 95.7% which is in the category of very good value. The most significant difference is from the fifth indicator "developing strategy and tactic", n gain of experimental class and control class is 5.83 and 0.23 respectively. As the result of the hypothesis test is Sig. 0.035 which means that there is a significant difference in students' ability to think critically between the students in the experimental class and the control class, the students in the experimental class think more critically than the students in the control class.

This study aimed to identify: (1) the validity of the developed contextual learning based textbook (2) practicality of the developed contextual learning based textbook (3) effectiveness of the developed contextual learning based textbook to improve students’ critical and creative thinking ability. This study used developement research design by adopting ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). This study consisted of three stages: introduction, developement, and test of effetiveness. The validity result of textbook from 36 expert’s assessment items showed that 22 items were very suitable and 14 items were suitable. The textbook practicality was seen from checklist points achievement for contextual learning based textbook. The result of gain score analysis of students 'critical thinking ability was 0.769 or categorized as high, meaning that the use of contextual learning based textbook was effective to improve students' critical thinking ability. The result of gain score analysis of students 'creative thinking ability was 0.775 or categorized as high, meaning that the use of contextual learning based textbook was effective to improve students' creative thinking ability. Keywords: Textbook, Contextual learning, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking.

The research aims to describe students' critical thinking ability in terms of social arithmetic problem problem 2020/2021. As for the indicators of critical thinking ability covering clarification, furtherment, strategy, and inference. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The method of data collection includes a test of the critical thinking ability of 3 items of description and interview. Based on data analysis, it could be concluded that: (1) the high category of subjects of 3 students, indicating that in the clarifying, subclassification, strategy, and inference parts can state the problem perfectly and completely (2) the only moderate number of subjects at 5 students, pointing out that in the clarifying, subclassification, strategy, and inference sections can present the problem less completely (3) next, the low number of subjects of 12 students, I will be able to explain that in the clarification, assement, strategy, and inference will be unable to declare the problem.

The background of this study is the school of the new students of mathematics education courses came from grade high, medium and low. Here the writer wants to see how much influence of the school level on new students’ critical thinking skills and creative mathematical. The purpose of this study was to examine differences in new students’ mathematical disposition, critical & creative thinking ability through the mathematical problem posing approach based on school level (high, medium, low). The method used in this research is the experimental method, with only posttest design. The population of this study is all the students of mathematics education department in Cimahi; while the sample is selected randomly from one college. Then from this chosen college is taken two samples from random class. The instrument of essay test is used to measure students’ critical and mathematical creative thinking ability; while non-test instrument is questionnaire of attitude scale. The results show that: 1) based on the school level (high, medium, and low); there is difference in students’ mathematical critical thinking ability through problem posing approach. 2) based on the school level (high, medium, and low); there is difference in the students’ mathematical critical thinking ability through problem posing approach. 3) based on the school level (high, medium, and low); there is difference in students’ mathematical disposition.
