The following notes aim, in a tentative way, to discuss and analyze the source and nature of sovereignty in its relation to mankind, and to the institutions created and developed as a result of man’s desire for social order and peace. The term notes excludes the idea of an exhaustive or comprehensive treatment of sovereignty; the sole purpose in view is to direct attention to the wide-reaching importance of the subject and to suggest a line of thought somewhat different from that usually followed by publicists.

The article outlines the author’s vision of the formation and development of “intersubjectivity” as a concept of socially oriented thought. Introduced into sociohumanitarian knowledge by E. Husserl’s phenomenology, this notion initially possessed powerful sociological potential and was called to explain on an abstract-philosophical level the existence of social order from an egological perspective (which is the perspective of a subject with a sphere of consciousness that other participants of interaction have no access to). The main tendency inherent to the post-Husserlian change in the concept’s semantic profile is linked to the gradual loss of its metaphysical potential, as well as its psychologization and instrumentalization. Intersubjectivity — which is something that was brought into sociology by A. Schütz’s social phenomenology — gained a pragmatic interpretation, effectively becoming an axiomatically presupposed attribute of the “life world”. Constructivist semantic valences of the analyzed concept were implemented in the social constructivism of P. Berger and T. Lukman, and at this point said concept had pretty much exhausted its initial analytical potential. The reinvigoration of sociological interest towards this category is associated with a postclassical redirection of attention towards interactive processes of generating meanings within situations of the “life world”, processes that are multidimensional, conditioned by context and cannot be fully reduced to just the subject. The matter of whether returning to Husserl’s intuitions is appropriate demands further consideration, in order to consider other interpretations of intersubjectivity, including those that focus on the historical course of the social process.

The concept of social gender is an interdisciplinary matter of debate and is still questioned today. Making sense of this concept is understood by the ongoing codes in the social order. However, the fact that men are still positioned as dominating women in the contrast of the public sphere/private sphere prevents the making sense of the concept of gender. This study questions the concept of social gender through the female characters and male characters presented in the film Tersine Dünya (1993) within the framework of Judith Butler's thoughts regarding the notion of the subject. The thoughts of feminist film theorists also bring the strategies of representation of female characters up for discussion. Butler's thoughts and the discourses of feminist film theorists will enable both making sense of social gender and a more concrete understanding of the concept of the subject. The possibility of deconstruction of patriarchal codes by using classical narrative cinema conventions is also brought up for discussion in the examined film.

The ‘Peronist Left’ has become one of the chief actors in the often violent drama of Argentine politics today. It is the object of this article to place the events of the more recent past, at least since the return of Peronism to power in 1973, within the framework of the development of the ‘Peronist Left’ since the fall of Perón in 1955. Obviously the article makes no claim to be a comprehensive treatment of the subject. Such a treatment could only be part of a much more extensive study of the Argentine working class and the Peronist movement. In particular, the article concentrates on an analysis of the political ideology of the different currents that have made up the ‘Peronist Left’ since 1955, whilst recognizing that this ideology must ultimately be seen in the far wider context of the social and economic development of Argentine society. The first part will highlight the main features of this Left in the 1955–73 period and analyze the main currents within it. In the second part of the paper the events of the last two to three years will be looked at within this context.

The face is a bodily surface that visually, historically and politically locates identity. Under the scrutiny of facial recognition and biometric software, the face can take the place of a whole identity, becoming a rigid singular representation. This paper draws connections between the increasing trends in surveillance and biometric technologies, and their manifestation within contemporary art practices. Specifically, I look to artworks that engage traditional portraiture and representations of the face, all the while manipulating expectations of the face-as-portrait. Artworks included in this project are Ursula Johnson’s L’nuweltik (We are Indian), Gillian Wearing’s Self Portrait at Twenty Seven Years Old and Anthony Cerniello’s Danielle. How has the face come to be represented in contemporary portraiture, and might these representations suggest a shifting logic of identity, away from the face? Art as visual expression is considered in relation to surveillance as another outcome of visual culture that highlights a continuing desire to categorize the subject within a social order.

While the term “legal pluralism’ literally denotes a plurality of legal orders, it is their plurality of and the distinguishing features between them, which continues to make the subject matter a very charged and hotly debated one. Seen through the lens of legal sociology and anthropology, the plurality of coexisting, normative orders appears, above all, as a matter of description, as a fact of social ordering. Meanwhile, as some of these normative systems are being claimed as being “law,” while others are associated with nonlegal forms of social order, such as customary, traditional, or indigenous norms as well as, perhaps, sector-specific rules of professional or industry conduct, the categories used to draw the lines between legal and nonlegal norms become in themselves highly contentious. The chapter argues that to neglect the fundamental distinction between legal pluralism as “manifestation” and as “argument” perpetuates a troubling inability on the part of positivist and analytical legal theory to engage with law’s inherent instability. Especially at a time, where the actors, norms, and processes that together constitute and shape emerging transnational regulatory regimes are located and operating both within and beyond the state as the purportedly singularly competent authority of law creation and enforcement, the deconstruction of “legal pluralism” as “nonlaw” and threat to the state can serve as the foundation for a new, critical legal theory.

The first season of the HBO series True Detective has drawn attention to Eugene Thacker’s horror of philosophy trilogy and his tripartite mode of thinking of the world and the subject’s relation to it. This article is an effort to read Thacker’s speculative realism into a critique of the police power. Where the police concept is vital to sustaining the Cartesian world-for-us, a world of mass-consumption and brutal privation, the limitations, failures or absence of police might also reveal horizons of disorder—primitivism, anarchism—the world-in-itself. A critical reading of True Detective and other police stories suggests that even its most violent and corrupt forms, as inseparable from security, law and order, the police power is never beyond redemption. What is rendered unthinkable then is the third ontological position—a world-without-police—as it exposes the frailties of the present social order and the challenges of thinking outside the subject.

It is not a matter of mere chance that the conception of a “calling” or “profession” is meeting with special interest in Germany. Several books have been written on the subject, some with the intention of showing that a better understanding of the idea of a “calling” would contribute considerably toward the building up of a new and improved social order. While thus practical and political interests are debating the problem, an attempt to reach the root of the question has been made by the German sociologist, Max Weber, who in his work Protestant Ethics and the Spirit of Capitalism,1 undertook to answer the question, Why does Protestantism seem to be particularly congenial to the capitalistic type of civilization? According to him, it is the conception of a “calling” as a God-given task, developed by Luther and incorporated into Calvin's religious system, which is responsible for this fact. The word Beruf, English “calling,” itself in its present meaning, originated, he asserts, in Luther's translation of the Bible, and from that source it spread throughout the Germanic world.

This article aims to contribute to the studies of research methodology. To this end, we seek to reflect on the experience of an engaged research that clearly shows the influence of the researcher’s existential trajectory on the choice of her object of study, as well as the methodological perspectives that favor the experience of intersubjectivity in the production of knowledge. The ultimate goal is to show that scientific research can be conducted based on a methodological paradigm that breaks with the subject-object dichotomy. As a reference to this discussion, we take an investigation that sought to understand how women constitute themselves as female subjects of theological knowledge and what power dynamics pervade the processes of entering and constructing a female faculty career in a place marked by hegemonic discourses and gender logics of a male social order. Therefore, we emphasize the hermeneutic perspective, as it allows to capture the meanings that female professors assign to their actions and experiences in the universe of theological knowledge. Hermeneutics as a research methodology favor the production of knowledge that is not intended as universal, but rather situated, subjective, and open to new interpretation perspectives. Such characteristics are central in the feminist epistemologies that seek to demystify the pure objectivity and universality of knowledge, showing that the subjects of knowledge are always immersed in a certain situation, position, and circumstance, and that, therefore, no knowledge is produced from nowhere.

The legal provision of valeological education of the future teacher is regulated by several national and international documents according to the hierarchical principle. Ukraine acquires rights, duties, and, most importantly, opportunities in the development of the authentic valeological space at all levels of political and social activity, gradually entering the world social, medical, psychological, and valeological community. In the state documents on education, considerable attention is paid to the implementation of a social request, a social order related to the search for new forms of training of a specialist in the educational and recreational field, who should perfectly possess the main and related professions, can solve the tasks of training specialists in conditions of competitiveness, integrativity, and intensity of activity. Now in our state, several laws stimulate the introduction of valeological education for the general masses of the population. Although in the Ukrainian legal field valeological issues are solved dualistically (as medical and extra medical, therapeutic and preventive, special and general), now there is every opportunity to make valeological culture a publicly available component of universal humanity. Naturally, the subject of reflection of various forms of social consciousness at different times was a person, his spiritual and/or physical perfection. So, within the framework of philosophy, as a joint foremother of the humanities and, to a large extent, the natural sciences, psychological, pedagogical, and medical theories of human health and existence developed.

In the provisions of the scientific article the author reveals the features of the interaction of general secondary and out-of-school education institutions in the aesthetic education of teenagers. The scientist offers the developed and tested vectors of the interaction of general secondary and out-of-school education in the aesthetic education of teenagers. The interaction is aimed at achieving this goal – the aesthetic education of teenagers and which provides for direct or indirect involvement in the educational process of the subjects of pedagogical interaction.The developed vectors violate the subject-subject relations in general secondary education institutions, indicate the subject-subject relations in out-of-school education institutions and combine (integrate) subject-subject relations in the specified institutions. Vectors allow us to trace the relationships between all subjects of educational activities and the environment (nature, architecture, production, the Internet, etc.), relationships with other institutions (subjects and objects), creative associations, unions, museums, philharmonics, theaters, studios, galleries, exhibitions, photo galleries, parks of culture and recreation, public organizations, libraries, Internet cafes, etc.), to support the subject-object and subject-subject relationships in the aesthetic education of teenagers.The scientific definition is analyzed and clarified «esthetic environment of interaction», which the author interprets as a pedagogically organized educational environment in which there is a dynamic pedagogical action, cooperation of the subjects of pedagogical interaction. These are the subjects of interaction of general secondary education institutions, out-of-school education institutions, subjects-object relations of other institutions. These relationships support the complex relationship of social phenomena-systems of general secondary and extracurricular education and enable the aesthetic education of teenagers, the development of society, the fulfillment of the social order, and so on. У положеннях наукової статті автор розкриває особливості взаємодії закладів загальної середньої та позашкільної освіти в естетичному вихованні підлітків. Науковець пропонує розроблені й апробовані вектори взаємодії закладів загальної середньої та позашкільної освіти в естетичному вихованні підлітків, які діють в естетичному середовищі. Вектори взаємодії спрямовані на досягнення означеної мети – естетичного виховання підлітків і в якій передбачається прямо або опосередковано залучення до освітньо-виховного процесу суб’єктів педагогічної взаємодії.Розроблені вектори порушують суб’єкт-суб’єктні відносини у закладах загальної середньої освіти, указує суб’єкт-суб’єктні відносини у закладах позашкільної освіти, поєднує (інтегрує) суб’єкт-суб’єк-тні відносини у означених закладах. Вектори дозволяють прослідкувати взаємозв’язки між усіма суб’єктами освітньо-виховної діяльності й навколишнім середовищем (природа, архітектура, вироб-ництво, інтернет тощо), взаємозв’язки з іншими інституціями (суб’єктами та об’єктами) (творчі об’єднання, спілки, музеї, філармонії, театри, студії, галереї, виставки, фотогалереї, парки культури та відпочинку, громадські організації, бібліотеки, інтернет-кафе тощо), підтримувати суб’єкт-об’єктні та суб’єкт-суб’єктні взаємовідносини в естетичному вихованні підлітків.Проаналізовано й уточнено наукову дефініцію «естетичне середовище взаємодії», яку автор трактує як педагогічно організоване виховне середовище, в якому відбувається динамічна педагогічна дія, співпраця суб’єктів педагогічної взаємодії. Суб’єктами взаємодії є заклади загальної середньої освіти, заклади позашкільної освіти, суб’єкт-об’єктні відносини інших інституцій. Ці відносини підтримують складний взаємозв’язок суспільних явищ-систем загальної середньої та позашкільної освіти і уможли-влюють естетичне виховання підлітків, розвиток суспільства, виконання соціального замовлення тощо. Ключові слова: естетичне виховання, естетичне середовище, взаємодія, вектори взаємодії, заклад загальної середньої освіти, заклад позашкільної освіти, підлітки.
