Almost none of the conditions that, according to the latest research, favor democratic durability were present in Western Europe between the world wars. Yet only four Western European states became dictatorships during this period, whereas the others remained democratic despite economic crisis, an unhelpful international system, and the lure of nondemocratic alternatives. Several recent works offer new explanations for this pattern of interwar outcomes. Insofar as these works analyze the entire universe of Western European cases, they represent an important methodological advance. However, they remain too wedded to a class-coalitional framework to provide both a parsimonious and a historically accurate account of why democracy collapsed in some states but not in others. This article proposes an alternative explanatory framework that focuses on how political parties can shape association life in such a way as to support or undermine democracy.

Entropy is a key concept widely used in physics and other fields. At the same time, the meaning of entropy with different names and the relationship among them are confusing. In this paper, we discuss the relationship among the Clausius entropy, Boltzmann entropy and information entropy and further show that the three kinds of entropy are equivalent to each other to some extent. Moreover, we point out that the evolution of the universe is a process of entropy increment and life originates from the original low entropy of the universe. Finally, we discuss the evolution of the entire universe composed of the cosmological horizon and the space surrounded by it and interpret the entropy as a measure of information of all microstates corresponding to a certain macrostate. Under this explanation, the thermodynamic entropy and information entropy are unified and we can conclude that the sum of the entropy of horizon and the entropy of matter in the space surrounded by the horizon does not decrease with time if the second law of thermodynamics holds for the entire universe.

One object of study of God is God's order for humans, commonly known as Sunatullah. Allah SWT as a substance that is the creator of all beings both human and the entire universe is one of the regularities of Allah SWT. Furthermore, the phenomenon of the order of God Almighty in His creation can be seen starting from the creation of humans and nature and their contents. In the level of theology, God's order for human beings (Sunatullah) is not limited to the regularities possessed by His creatures, but more than that, the various regularities that occur in creatures are the will of Allah SWT. Allah Almighty is the substance that wills, and controls the order in His creatures. Sunnatullah as a concept should be invested in Islamic education. Therefore it is necessary to understand about sunnatullah as something that must be believed, used as guidelines and translated at the level of education. After being translated into the education curriculum, the next task of education is to implement sunnatullah as a theological concept into a practical action for students.

Balzac has been widely regarded as one of the greatest storytellers of humanity; his ability to describe an entire universe of characters makes his work a real living system, truly devoted to an ambitious project. At the same time his sparkling and puzzled existence is itself a novel. As such, analyzing some key moments in Balzac's life, from a specific financial standpoint and business perspective, allows us to better understand the genesis of his work: and vice versa. In effect, the main research question of this paper is to identify some key moments in Balzac's life that have affected him from a financial perspective and that have drawn him to a mature and profound knowledge of the social and economic mechanisms, essential for writing his great masterpieces. At the same time, and on the contrary direction, attention will be devoted to some of his novels that have a clear economic and financial plot: as above, they certainly have emerged from the knowledge of the social life in France in the nineteenth century via his daily vicissitudes.

The life of entire universe is governed by the five great elements (Panch Mahabhutas) which includes Earth, Water, Fire, Sky and Air which are existed in nature. All living things are composed from these five great elements. This fact is mentioned in various Hindu Holy Scriptures such as Vedas, Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharat, Manusmrirti, Shrimad Bhagvat Gita etc. All living and non living things are existed in nature are entirely interconnected or interdependent to each other. Presence of sufficient living and non living things make sound and sustainable ecosystem. Therefore our ancient sages and hermits linked natures components such as plants, animals, rivers, mountains, forests etc to the worship in Hindu religion for sustainable utilization and conservation for generation to generation. The forests are regarded as 'Lungs of Earth' and 'Living Oxygen Cylinders' and provide fresh air, water, clean and green environment, maintain food chain and food web etc and also full fill all basic requirements such as food, medicine and shelter. But now due to the various anthropogenic factors, the forests are depleting fast from the nature, while importance of plants/forests has been described by ancient sages and hermits in various Holy Scriptures of Hindu religion. Importance of plants has been proved by modern research. In the present communication, the details are given.

In considering the roots, basis, and aftermath of the Verse Comments, which was composed as a lyrical interpretation of the 60-fascicle edition of Dōgen’s Treasury of the True Dharma Eye, several facts are well known about when and why it was written. However, many aspects of the historical context remain unclear in regard to the reasons for the textual production, so that there is no choice but to make some conjectures based on compelling literary and chronological evidence. Speculation about the formation and dissemination (or lack thereof) of Giun’s work in relation to the significance of the 60-fascicle edition should be argued by assessing traditional records along with contemporary research that has uncovered important archival materials for Treasury manuscripts previously unavailable to scholars. This chapter explains the evidence while summarizing recent theories about the possible rationale for how and why the Verse Comments was constructed.

Take your pick: it’s a target-rich environment. Creation of the entire universe in a week. A talking serpent and a death-dealing fruit. A worldwide flood. A fugitive nation hurrying on dry ground across the floor of the Red Sea. A city’s walls falling flat at the sound of trumpets. The sun standing still. Any one of a hundred implausibilities that would make a reasonable person say, “Come on. Get serious.”...

This chapter presents a logical technology-independent fully content-focused inquiry into the operations quality problems of any symbolic representations of reality. This teleological operations-research-based approach demonstrates that a purpose-focused view, natural within the operation- research (OR) methodology, facilitates faster progress in identifying the fundamental relationships of more lasting validity for business, public administration, and military purposive operations. Products of the Information Quality Programs and Initiatives at MIT (MITIQ Program) serve as recognized research references. It contains definitions of (1)A tentatively universal hierarchical taxonomy of the entire universe of quality requirements, (2) The tentative definitions of the first five tentatively universal operations quality requirements for any situation, (3) An economic sequence of their examination, and (4) The first seven tentatively universal principles in this domain. This quality framework may assist researchers in further studies and assist practitioners in understanding the intricate relationships among operations quality attributes. The chapter presents the tentative results of the author’s research in progress.

AbstractVopěnka proved long ago that every set of ordinals is set-generic over HOD, Gödel's inner model of hereditarily ordinal-definable sets. Here we show that the entire universe V is class-generic over (HOD,S), and indeed over the even smaller inner model =(L[S],S), where S is the Stability predicate. We refer to the inner model as the Stable Core of V. The predicate S has a simple definition which is more absolute than any definition of HOD; in particular, it is possible to add reals which are not set-generic but preserve the Stable Core (this is not possible for HOD by Vopěnka's theorem).
